Corsair Vengeance 1500 7.1 / 5.1 Dolby Gaming Headset gives you a compelling gaming experience with accurate audio imaging you need if you’re playing to win. Designed for performance.

Dolby Headphone multi-channel audio built inIf you have onboard sound, the Vengeance 1500 provides easy one-cable USB connection and Dolby Headphone technology that lets you enjoy multi-channel games the way they were meant to be played. Dolby Headphone is compatible with any game with 3D audio, and helps reduce “headphone fatigue” while delivering the accurate 360-degree audio imaging you need if you’re playing to win.
50mm driversThe massive 50mm drivers greatly reduce the overloading and distortion that can occur with gaming headsets that use 40mm drivers. You get more accurate sound reproduction (particularly for the all-important low-frequency effects). You hear more audio, more cleanly, and you get a competitive advantage.
High-sensitivity noise-cancelling microphoneWhether you're barking instructions to your teammates or chatting with old friends, you deserve to be heard. The unidirectional, noise-cancelling microphone is tuned to capture your voice loudly and clearly, while screening out distracting background noises. And, it flips out of sight when you’re not using it. In addition, the circumaural closed-back design also blocks distracting sounds and keeps your head in the game, and the extra-large inline volume and microphone control is easy to grab and use when the action heats up — you don't need to take your eyes off the screen.
Superior ComfortThe extra-wide, extra deep earcups don’t just help things sound great — they feel better, too. Customize your comfort with the included microfiber cover. It uses memory foam earpads for a comfortable, reliable fit that conforms to the shape of your head without binding or pinching.
Pros: Out of the box, these are outstanding, comfortable, well constructed, and offer great clarity. Do download the software from Corsair's website. You will need to play with EQ to get the audio profile you want but it comes with some presets which offer a good baseline. I especially like the microfiber and memory foam earcups. They're comfortable and surround the entire ear. They also won't wear out as quickly as some others with vinyl/plastic covers over the foam will (especially if you have a beard).
Cons: So far the cons are very few. The initial bass response was not very impressive, but adjusting the EQ appropriately and adjusting the surround sound location properties helps as well. But let's be honest, the bass we look for is not natural bass... we like to bump it up and feel it even with a headset on. So in my mind, this isn't a con but is worth noting. That said, the sound reproduction and complexity far exceeds my former headset with 40mm drivers which was considered one of the best a year ago.
Overall Review: I read the Tom's Hardware review on 7.1 surround headsets. These are the only to feature 50mm drivers vs 40mm and lower offered by competitors. I made my decision based upon their recommendations in that review. I was not disappointed.
