Pros: Haven't had a problem with it yet in several months of gaming use.
Cons: The only con I can come up with is that the heatsinks kind of hurt my fingers when pushing in the RAM modules, haha.
Overall Review: I don't use the fan. For my configuration it isn't needed, and the modules are staying cool enough with the heat sinks. My machine is OC'd. The only time you MIGHT need the fan would be for some heavy duty, advanced OC that I don't care to mess with right now.

Too Much of a Good Thing4/17/2011 10:55:54 AM
Pros: I got 16Gb of 4x4Gb Corsair Dominator ram for less than buying two packages of 2x4Gb Dominator + a cooling Fan! The funny thing is that on a Windows 7 Pro 64bit PC w/ a 6 core AMD Phoneme II I have yet to get past 8Gb of ram usage! So her is to 2x the amount of RAM I need for a good price.
Cons: None for me, but I have a full tower case with plenty of room. If you have a smaller case, or your mother board has only a couple of fan connecters then you might run into issues with the cooling fan.
Overall Review: I am slightly annoyed that half my order came from CA (and less than 50 miles from my house) and the RAM cam from NJ. So I had my PC all together except the RAM for 2 days.

Fast Ram3/22/2011 8:27:48 AM
Pros: Nice ram had had zero problems thus far..
Cons: None
Overall Review: Had to remove one cooling fin when fitting a Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler... not a big deal I guess and obviously could not use the fan that came with the ram either
Pros: Ordered it yesterday, received it today! And no, I didn't specify rush order or overnight shipping. Its good to live across the Hudson River from Newegg's NJ warehouse!
Memory worked right out of the box. Though it was hard to open up space to reach the sockets. I didn't realize how tight it is inside my new box (Dell Studio XPS 7100 with a big AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5870 taking much of the small space). Had to disconnect a lot of cables and much to my surprise this new Dell has everything bolted into place unlike many modern cases that have quick-release system for most of it.
Cons: Is it okay to run this memory without the cooling fan?
Like I said, it is very tight inside my box. I couldn't find a power plug to plug the fan unit in, and even if I did, it would require major surgery to open up enough space in there for me to get enough clearance to bolt the fan unit on. Would love to hear back from someone at Corsair on whether it is safe to leave off the fan.
Overall Review: So far so good. Yes, I did have some difficulties, but all due to the Dell case. Decided to buy the full computer since it was on sale and cheaper than building a new one and it came with a warranty ($1,500 for 6-core processor, top of the line video card, wireless keyboard and mouse, and 24" monitor). Didn't realize it would be so tight inside the case. -1 to Dell, +1 to both Corsair and Newegg.
Pros: Haven't had a problem with it yet in several months of gaming use.
Cons: The only con I can come up with is that the heatsinks kind of hurt my fingers when pushing in the RAM modules, haha.
