Good gaming mouse. 9/24/2019 3:20:31 PM

Pros: This is an attractive mouse with bright RGB lighting and two different side panels for the right side, one with a finger rest, and one without.

Qi charging is a plus.

This is a reasonably large mouse, very large for a gaming mouse. If you have trouble finding a gaming mouse large enough to be comfortable in your hand, as I do, this is worth looking at.

Cons: Qi charging only works when the mouse is either placed on the charging pad or over the charging zone in the case of a Xi charging mouse pad.

The forward-most of the three thumb buttons is placed uncomfortably far forward on the mouse and takes some getting used to.

For a mouse in this price range, needs more buttons or some other special features. Qi charging is a plus but it's limited since it can't be used while the mouse is being used.

The iCUE software is not very friendly to learn, and has about the poorest design of any gaming mouse software I've yet seen. It works, but expect to spend some time learning your way around it.

The manufacturer has changed the mouse from having three separate RGB zones to having them all linked to a single zone, reducing the number of lighting effects you can implement, if that's something you enjoy.

Overall Review: The mouse has a textured finish--some may enjoy that, and some may find it uncomfortable.

This is not a bad mouse, it's just not spectacular at any one thing. Qi charging is handy but that alone doesn't make this mouse shine when you compare it against its similarly-priced competitors.

Update to original review: after using this mouse, it grows on you. It is a very comfortable mouse once you get used to the thumb button arrangement, and it tracks extremely well. This isn't a perfect gaming mouse, but it is a very good one.

Pros: Nice design, ergonomic which makes it very comfortable in its grip, tested in games and productivity and I can say that I do not regret buying it, beautiful RGB.

Have had for over a year now, reached the final straw. 9/11/2019 5:37:29 PM

Pros: -It looks okay
-When it actually is working it feels okay

Cons: -Terrible software from Corsair
-Cursor will randomly flick to the corner of the screen for no reason, sometimes once a day, sometimes a couple times a minute.
-Will randomly disconnect when running wireless, have to get up and remove wireless plug in the back of PC.
-Will randomly disconnect when CONNECTED WITH A WIRE, have to turn off the mouse and remove the plug from the mouse.
-Buttons on mouse are inconvenient to use and the software macros and binds sometimes just don't work.
-DPI changes when you plug in the mouse vs wireless, I'd say it went from 600 DPI to 800 DPI
-Sometimes the software wouldn't detect the mouse and I would be unable to modify settings.
-About two months ago the mouse stopped taking firmware updates no matter what I try.

Overall Review: Absolutely terrible mouse from Corsair, I have had several of their products and this one tops the charts at being the worse. The keyboard I own of theirs is also failing and the palm rest is falling apart after only around a year and half of use and also has horribly loud springs. To be real with you, just don't buy Corsair peripherals. Reliability is just not there.

For the price and market it targets, it is terrible! 8/7/2019 4:44:30 PM

Pros: -Aesthetics
-Buttons

Cons: -Battery Life
-Wireless Charging
-Ergonomics
-Software
-Reliability

Overall Review: The Dark Core RGB SE is a good looking mouse with lots of buttons and unfortunately that is all it offers.

The battery life is not just unsatisfactory, it is TERRIBLE. Sure wireless charging sounds nice but I will get to that. On a full charge on power saver mode with all lighting disable I will not get more than one days typical use out of this mouse.

As for the wireless charging with the official mousepad from Corsair there is only one specific VERY sensitive zone of the mousepad that charges the mouse. It is a pain to put the mouse on it so I constantly find myself either forgetting to, or placing the mouse on it and having it not charge. This leads me to spend the majority of my time with this "wireless mouse" in wired mode.

The buttons are numerous and the mouse looks cool, but the layout is terrible. I do not naturally find my fingers and thumb landing naturally on any buttons except the left and right mouse click buttons and the center side "Sniper" button. Over nearly 6 months of use I have found I have not naturally adapted to the layout and constantly have to look at the mouse to find the majority of the buttons available.

The Corsair ICUE software still does not properly show battery life even after repeated bug reports to Corsair. It will register 75% full after a full nights charge which leads me to believe the overall battery remaining estimate is always wrong. The software does not allow for customizing the mouse buttons to every possible action either. For example if you want to assign an arbitrary "Mouse Button 5" to any of the nine mouse buttons, you cannot. You can assign it to the "A" key but now a mouse button. The software itself is laggy, resource intensive, and far from a user friendly experience. The mouse does not support wireless updates either so you have to plug it in whenever a VERY SCARCE update is available.

During the one day of use I get out of this thing I have to unplug and re-plug the wireless receiver at least three times because the mouse stops responding. What is worse is that Corsair has done nothing during this mouse's life to rectify this definite software issue. The wireless feature is also terribly unresponsive. If you do not have a mousepad with a USB port then kiss wireless goodbye. The lag is horrendous and unusable for any gaming experience, especially first person shooters.

Overall this mouse is a scar on Corsair's name and I wish I never bought it, a long with the official mousepad. It is targeting a niche market it cannot stand in whatsoever with a price that demands quality while delivering mediocrity. Do not buy this mouse and do not buy the mousepad. Corsair needs to make some big changes to it's peripheral lineup regarding hardware AND software before you should ever consider purchasing any peripheral from Corsair. This is especially disappointing considering Corsair's normally stellar track record for quality performance computer parts. Stay way from the Dark Core RGB SE.

Failure 6/19/2019 11:41:03 AM

Pros: + True Wireless Mouse - No need for wires at all has a lot of potential, and I honestly believe this will be the norm after the kinks get worked out of the technology.
+ Good overall button placement and feel - Not any better than other good mice I've used but worth saying that it's not bad in this regard.
+ Looks nice - It has a nice combination of textures and lights. Corsair never seems to mess up the RGB implementation.
+ DPI visualization LED's - This is a must for me - too many computer mice assign colors to the DPI settings. I'm never going to remember that green = higher DPI than yellow. I need to know at a glance what setting is selected and this mouse does it well using a set of 3 small LED's as indicators.

Cons: - Awful Reliability - Sometimes it will just stop working. Lights still on, but the mouse cursor is completely unresponsive and the mouse itself appears frozen as DPI settings won't even change. Fixing it isn't even as easy as turning it off and back on again either. Sometimes I have to turn it off and place it on the wireless charging pad and then turn it back on. Sometimes I have to unplug the wireless transmitter/receiver from the USB port. Every time it happens (at least weekly) it's a guessing game to figure out how to get it working again.
- Poor battery time - When using this mouse and Corsair VOID wireless headset the mouse is always the first thing to die, and it dies without warning and doesn't want to come back to life until it's been plugged in to a usb cable for a while. Only seems reliable for a few hours of heavy gaming.
- Wireless Charging While Turned On Breaks the Mouse - This is one sure-fire way I've found to make the mouse unresponsive for a while. If a forget to switch it off before placing it over the charging spot - or worse - if I accidentally use that part of the pad while actually using the mouse, it becomes unresponsive until I go through the game of turning off and on, unplugging the dongle, doing a rain dance, etc...
- Very particular charging position - Center the mouse on the charging circle? Nope. Place the front end over it? Nope. The back has to be over the charging spot, and it has to be just right. I figure there's roughly a centimeter of tolerance for the mouse to actually accept a charge. And of course it's a slippery mouse on a slippery surface, so don't bump the desk...and hope your cat doesn't bump it... If the whole mouse pad was a wireless charger and it just charged while you're using it then that might be awesome, but as it stands it's a very finicky chore.

Overall Review: I really wanted this mouse to be great, and it was pricey so I had assumed I was getting something reliable and high quality. It's been one of my more disappointing PC hardware purchases and I definitely regret it. Save your money and look elsewhere unless Corsair releases a much better revision.

Terrible product 5/22/2019 4:03:22 AM

Pros: I liked the two sided finger rest

Cons: I bought the mouse pad for the Qi charging and the mouse. The pads on the bottom of the mouse have worn down to nothing within 6 months and corsair wants to charge me another 100$ to get a new mouse.

Overall Review: Save you money and go with logitech

Good wireless performance, odd button spacing and terrible battery life 5/16/2019 7:51:43 AM

Pros: -Ergonomics/shape feels good
-good wireless performance
-selectable RF or Bluetooth connection (comes with RF USB dongle)
-RGB is not outrageously bright or obnoxious

Cons: -I personally do NOT like the Corsair iCUE control software. Constant issues with both mouse and corsair KB lighting glitching
-on-board memory stored profiles seemed to conflict with the iCUE software and would never apply correctly without iCUE installed and running...kind of defeats the entire purpose of on-board memory, doesn't it?
-Battery life was abysmal. On a full charge, it would be down to critically low within a day. Wound up using it wired as often as wireless because of this.
-The overall size of the mouse felt decent in my hand, and I have smaller hands. However, some of the buttons, especially the side thumb buttons, were especially hard or impossible to reach without repositioning my hand on the mouse with an unnatural grip. The 'forward' thumb buttons were never used because they weren't in reach or practical to bother with. Waste of buttons if you cannot reach them all.

Overall Review: Bought this with the Corsair M1000 Qi mousepad, and in hindsight wish I had gone with the Logitech equivalents instead. Far more reliable control software, and better customer support. I liked the Corsair hardware (mouse and Strafe keyboard) but could not deal with the constant bugs and issues with the iCUE software. Getting rid of it.
