I don't know what link cable you're referring to, but no this is literally just two (2) sticks of memory.

Same question but for Sabertooth Z87.  On Asus qualified vendor list it shows Dominator 1866C9 (Ver8.16).  What does this version refer to?

Check your computer system information for max RAM allowed.  ( 2 x 4 GB ) = 8 GB total RAM. Make sure of how many pin chip is in you computer. 240 - pin where it plugs in to board.

really really good, high quality RAM.. just in case you do not know what RAM is. it keeps and the info stored in it, that you use frequently. I.E. all those little icons at the bottom right corner, accessed through the RAM so it is ready for you to pull up. also for gaming, you want 8gigs easy, and 16 if you are a video editor, for rendering and such. no need for 32gigs.. it's just for show basically. which you can totally do with the light bars you can buy with it. awesome!
