Pros: There are 2 “kinds” of M.2 SSD, the “normal” ones that are the same speed as the 2.5” variants, and then there are the wicked fast NVMe ones. This is the super fast NVMe ones. I have no problem with as Asrock motherboard (Z170) seeing this SSD and installing windows. It look about 10 minutes, no kidding. Wow. It’s app for windows, Corsair SSD Toolbox (v1.2.4.7) is comparable with Samsung’s Magician. You can secure wipe, clone, (don’t) “optimize” get firmware updates, and see the ever useless “S.M.A.R.T.” status, get drive info, etc. That’s nice. I honestly can’t tell the difference between this drive and a Samsung 960 Pro, so you might as well save yourself HALF the price and snag this speedy little drive
Cons: The warranty isn’t as long as Samsung's.
Overall Review: Make SURE you have support for the 2280, most motherboards will support this, but most laptops need a smaller m.2 variant. Remember, don’t clone your old drive and get a perfect copy of all that software rot, install fresh, it takes only a few minutes and guarantees a perfect new working copy of windows. Also, unless you are copying huge video files to and from this drive all day to another equally fast drive, you probably can’t really tell the difference between this drive and and 2.5” variant SSD. According to benchmarks this’ll boot about 2 seconds faster than a non-nvme drive, but when boot times are so fast with SSD’s, I guess ~10% is a fair increase, but don’t think that because it has read and write speeds 5-6X higher than other SSDs, it will translate into 5-600% faster performance in real life things like app startup times. However all in all, I just love 2 less cables. M.2 is awesome. I don’t hesitate recommending this drive. Corsair has been in the SSD game a long long time.
Pros: Quick and simple install. Does not take up a drive bay, saving space for storage drives in smaller cases. Lives up to expectations, fast! Plenty of space to work with for applications and Windows.
Cons: Not really a fault of the drive, but the value of the next one up is vastly better. 10% higher cost ($30 roughly) for double the storage (480GB) seems an easy choice to make when picking drives and paying a premium for SSDs.
Overall Review: I'd certainly purchase and/or recommend this product to friends, after taking into consideration the cons I would likely move for the higher storage option available in the MP500 line. Overall I'm very impressed with it and will be looking out for more in future builds.
Pros: does work as described,
Cons: Does work with Windows 7 but needs a hot fix. It is not a flaw in the product.
Overall Review: If you plan on using any brand M.2 drive in win7 be aware that win 7 install will not see this drive , as it was not available at that point in time for win7 release. Windows does have a hot fix (native driver support in NVM Express in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2)that works but can be applied after win7 install, I have tried to slipstream - did not work 4 me.To apply to your boot drive. I found that I needed to install win7 to a plain sata ssd or HD then apply the windows hotfix - restart - now win7 sees the NVME drive - Now clone to the new NVME SSD. I used clone software to copy my old ssd c: drive to my new NVME Drive . the clone software needed to reboot and do the move in a low level state. After a few reboots the clone was successful, removed the old ssd and and now I boot from the new NVME . My MB is an Asrock 970-pro , it does not have a NVME slot so I used a PCIE to M.2 adapter. Also be aware that a USB 2.0 Flash Drive is a recommended device to install the OS , Not a USB 3.0 Device as there are known problems. DVD (old School) is good as well.
Pros: - Windows cold boots in about 5 seconds. Crazy fast! - Transfer speeds are awesome, especially to/from another SSD. - Tiny! Blends right into the mobo.
Cons: - Specific conditions must be met. (See Other Thoughts) Not worth taking a egg.
Overall Review: *IMPORTANT NOTE*: If you want the full 3000mbs read and 2400 write speeds, your M.2 slot MUST be PCI-E Gen 3.0 x4. Before buying either your mobo or this drive, check to see if the motherboard has that. I have a MSI Gaming 5 Z97 mobo, which is excellent, but aged. It has PCI-E 2.0 X2, which more than halves the speed of this drive. I bought it as it was a great deal, especially when I build a new computer, it will fly. If you are not planning to upgrade the mobo, and your PC does not have PCI-E 3.0 X4, purchase a M.2 Sata instead. You have to understand why the speeds are so high before you buy.
Pros: Must buy, boot windows under 10 seconds.
Cons: Too fast
Overall Review: Please make RGB version
Pros: Blazingly fast. Also runs fairly cool for an M.2. Doesn't look to shaby either
Cons: none
Pros: - Super fast - Boot time with Windows 10 is seconds with i5. - Has plenty of space to Windows 10 and your core apps.
Cons: - Price is higher than an SSD drive but it's worth it.
Overall Review: - Paired with a 1TB hard drive and I have plenty of space and speed. - Get this to boot up Windows and you will not regret it.
