Great PSU

Pros: Platinum PSU
1200watts
No sharp edges on the PSU
Fully Modular
0 RPM fan mode at low loads
Was only $100 on sale

Cons: Very large PSU, but what do you expect with a 1200w platinum
Heavy but same thing, its what you'd expect with 1200w platinum

Overall Review: Are there even bad platinum PSU's out there?...maybe...but def not from any reputable or name brands afaik.

Lasted About 7 Months

Pros: Worked just fine while it actually worked. I had it on a mining rig with x3 1060 and x3 1070. I undervolted the cards and the rig only pulled 700-800 watts at the wall, well within the specified capabilities of this power supply. The weird thing is the power supply blew while the rig was turned off, but plugged in. It tripped the breaker in my electrical panel... I'm lucky it didn't start a fire.

Cons: IT'S DEAD

Power, efficiency and stability, with even more power to spare.

Pros: Power - 1200 watts! It is why you buy it. Even with seven hard drives running, benchmarking and six programs running, I couldn't max out this PSU. Even pushed as far as my system could push it, I never got higher than 80% PSU use.

Price Point - Very competitive to other PSUs in the same watt range.

Quiet fan and operation - Even at 80%, the fan and coil were silent. Overall operation of the PSU, with just Windows and a couple programs running, were silent as even the coil had no annoying buzzing. Fan is design for silent running, and it didn't disappoint. Made my other 750Watt PSU sound like a loud fan, which I always considered it to be near silent at 80% load. Fan didn't even come on until the unit reached 46% power.

10 Year Warranty - Becoming come place now days on 750W and above models. Never have needed the 10 year warranty on a PSU, but it is nice to have. Since the PSU will be very difficult to push past 50%, this PSU should last well beyond 15 years.

Rail Mode - You have the option of not just using the single 12V rail, and spread your power needs around. The switch is on the inside of your case, so you will need to open your system to change it back.

Idle Power Use - Almost no power was being drawn, which is great to see as it can produce heat in the case, even though you are doing nothing.

Highly Efficient - When in normal, non-idle and not maxed out, the unit is operating at 91% efficiency.

Cons: Size - This is a beast of a PSU, as it is over 2 inches longer than my current 750Watt PSU. Had an issue with the air holes outlet on my ATX case, even though it is full size. Had to drill holes to expand the area to allow for better air flow. Filed and painted the new holes. No air flow issues.

Cables - Cables are usually the mid-range level cables, but on an upper-end model. For a full size ATX case, the cable lengths leave a lot to be desired. This helps on air flow, but it does make for possible strain on the connections, as the CPU and other connectors have no slack at all. Better to buy other thin braided cables. Had not issue on connecting the SLI for the GPU's, but it was tight.

Overall Review: Love the unit.
Nvidia 1080 GTX 1080Ti used in SLI.

Great high-end PSU

Pros: * Single vs Multiple rails, power and stability.
Most modern PSUs these days are single rail since it improves the unit's efficiency and stability. But it's always nice when a manufacturer gives the user a choice whether they want that or the potential of higher capacity support. Personally though, you should probably leave it in single rail mode. I wish the rail switch was on the back of the PSU though, near the power plug.

* Fanless mode under 40% load.
I do believe the fanless mode data is an estimate based on temperature. Surprisingly, I could not get the fan to spin up on my 8700K + 1080 Ti build.

* No coil whine or buzzing at any load.
I always make a point to stress my PSU's with various load types to check for abnormal noises. Thankfully in the HX1200's case, I heard nothing. This was at idle, gaming, synthetic, and production workloads -- Totally silent!

* 10 year warranty.
PSU warranties have been skyrocketing in length over the last few years. The HX1200 is no exception, 10 years is about the most you can expect from any PSU warranty these days. Although I expect it to last a lot longer! My Corsair HX620 just turned 12. A quality unit can last you for years to come.

Cons: * Longer than a typical PSU.
Even though it's listed as an "ATX" spec, it is several inches longer than a normal PSU. It should fit in *most* cases however you should verify that the fan will correctly line up with the air in-take on your case. You should also ensure it has proper clearance to extend into the case.

* Ribbon cables.
Yes, probably a superflous complaint, but I like to see the lightly braided cables on high-end PSUs. The ribbons split near the plugs themselves into separate, solid-black braids. So that's better than nothing! I did not find them exceptionally rigid, and they were easy to maneuver.

* PCI-E connectors have a short length.
This will mostly be an issue for CrossFire/SLi users, although there should be plenty of cables included to make things work. It's pretty odd, I don't think I've ever seen the two PCI-E cables have such a short length before. You may end up needing to use extra cables.

Overall Review: The OEM for this unit appears to be Channel Well Technology (CWT). The fan is a Corsair NR135P, FDB 135mm.

Top of the Line Corsair

Pros: * For as long as I’ve been building PCs, I’ve always opted for a Corsair Power Supply. They’ve simply never let me down, last forever, are well made, and durable. Every component looks top of the line and is quality. So I admit I do have a tad wee bit of bias here, but during my review I tried to put that all aside. Albeit, by the end of testing the HX1200, my bias toward Corsair, and specifically their PSUs, only deepened. No longer is it a simple bias, it’s straight up tribalism! *

- Wow, I mean as far as PSUs can be, the Corsair HX1200 is gorgeous. It has a freckle matte black paint job that looks elegant and clean. The greyscale color tone will fit into most PCs just fine. The top grill striped design is also a nice aesthetic accent. It’s a long, beefy PSU at just shy of 8 inches (7.9”). Through the back honeycomb, you can see the meticulously assembled components. There’s a large power switch and outlet on the back. The front has a switch for the single or multiple 12V line and all the fully modular ports (use what you need) for the many different cables included. Speaking of which, there’s the 20+4 ATX cable, which is a little short of two feet in length. There’s two 4+4 EPS12V, which are slightly longer than the ATX cable. There are four 6+2 PCIe cables, allowing plenty of GPUs power, and these are about 26 inches in length. There are also three SATA x12 connectors, which is about a total of 30 inches in length, with 4.5 inch separation in the connectors. Another two SATA x8 connectors with little less than 4.5 inch degree of separation. And lastly two Molex x8, at about 30 inch in length, with 4 inch degree of separation in the connectors. Somehow a floppy disk connector made its way into here. These cables are pure black, as expected, and look decently enough. I’d still say go with aftermarket cables if you intend to build an aesthetically pleasing PC, but these no doubt do the job and can pass a glance through an acrylic window.

- The HX1200 is rated at 80PLUS Platinum, which speaks to its incredible efficiency. The 12V rail alone can quite impressively deliver the entirety of the PSU’s wattage.

- Corsair also manufacturers amazing fans (I use them pretty much solely), and they have a 135mm (I wonder why they don’t just do a 140mm, but that’s beside the point) fluid dynamic fan inside here. It’s quiet as to be expected by Corsair and does its job presumably well, not even spinning when at the lower end of its power consumption.

- There’s an amazing 10-year long warranty on this beast. Corsair stands behind their products.

Cons: - It’s hard to find a con in a power supply unless it’s glaring. There are no such glaring issues such as this when it comes to the HX1200. I think PSU manufacturers could always improve the aesthetics of their cables and this still stands for the HX1200.

Overall Review: - Corsair Link, the monitoring software, isn’t built into this line of Corsair PSUs. I believe that besides that feature, this PSU is about the same as the HXis.

- I don’t know much about mining cryptocurrency, just the basics. I got into PCs just because of gaming. So this PSU will likely be overkill for most machine requirements, but if you’re running multiple GPUs for mining or gaming, the HX1200 will give you plenty of power to do so.

Can't power 4 1080ti at 75% tdp

Pros: Silent

Cons: Hook up this PSU to 4 1080ti at 75% tdp and the PSU will shutdown every now and then. Sometimes it will work for few days, sometimes after 1 minute or so it will crash and reboot my rig. 4 1080ti at 75% is below 1000w (even closer to 800w) so I really don't understand why it's crashing like that.

Pretty much perfect.

Pros: This PSU is one of the best out there. I have no complaints as it does what it says efficiently, quietly, and looks good doing it too. Not to mention it has all the safety features that a high end PSU should have.

Cons: Only complaint is that it did not come with two molex cables, as it is supposed to, however a quick support email to Corsair and that was taken care of for free.

Overall Review: Great PSU for high power rigs with great stability!
