If you're looking for a power supply to feed your hungry system, look no further. The new HX850 PSU from Corsair puts out an impressive 850 watts of power and supports the latest ATX12V v2.3 standards as well as EPS12V 2.91 standards. The unit is 80 PLUS GOLD certified and has a 99% Active Power Factor Correction to ensure maximum efficiency.

The cables are extra long, to work in the largest tower. They are fully sleeved for easy routing and bundling. There are six 8-pin PCIe power connectors so you can build up a CrossFire or SLI system using today’s high end video cards. There are also 12 SATA and 12 Molex connectors so you can connect multiple drives and peripherals.

Keeping it all cool is a temperature-controlled 140mm fan. Air is vented through the hexagon mesh back panel. The universal input accepts voltages from 90V to 264V so you no longer have to worry if the switch was in the right position.

In use since 2013 5/11/2020 1:26:59 PM

Pros: Price, power, number of modular cables, comes with storage for the extra cables, reasonable temps. In use since 2013, have never had any power issues.

Cons: It wasnt free.

Overall Review: Reliable power. Fans arent loud, have never noticed any excessive radial heat. non modular cables are sufficient for a standard build, only have 1 modular cable plugged in and is only so my main ssd is on its own line.

Heard some bad stuff about coil whine but I've never noticed anything, my case fans arent the quietest but I've never noticed any noises even with my case open. Worth noting other users with this issue were able to RMA easily.

Still going strong almost 10 years later 12/5/2019 6:06:21 PM

Overall Review: I know this isn't available anymore so this review is quite useless. Anyhow, I came across the empty box for this PSU today while cleaning and had to look it up. I actually bought this in 2010, always part of my build while the other parts around it got upgraded and this is the oldest part in my PC right now.

So here's a shout out to you Corsair, for making a product that can last 10 years without any problems.

Unreliable power 6/13/2019 8:30:36 PM

Pros: Great cabling options

Cons: Poor power quality
3.3V was solid at 3.31
5V wasn't terrible...varied from 5.06 to 5.15
12V was bad. Varied from 11.6 to 12.2. This caused issues with the MB power protection causing random PC lockups or reboots.

The PSU also caused speaker noise with my PCI-E sound card.

Overall Review: It 'worked' for about 5 years with few issues other than sound card noise...after that, the 12V rail was not stable...especially under load. Finally become unusable after 7 years.

3.5 years still chugging 2/24/2018 8:37:45 PM

Pros: high power output
semi modular
nice packaging

Cons: none

Overall Review: I have left this unit on nearly 24/7 for 3.5 years, it has had no issues at all. I had it powering a GTX 780 (Now a GTX1080 FTW3)
Never had an issue, if you can get this unit, get it, it will last you a ton of time and withstand a ton of abuse.
