fantastic power supply 6/29/2020 9:52:52 PM

Pros: I had a 750 but knowing it never can handle the full 750 I decided to get something bigger because if I add anything new or more powerful to the motherboard or more drives its gonna require MORE power, so I bought this 850. It is a BIG power supply and comes with more connections than you will ever need for older stuff and newer as well. It may seem expensive but it is well worth the cost.

Cons: no cons that I can see.

Overall Review: not only would I recommend this power supply I would warn anyone who is looking, if you buy cheap you get cheap. so dont go cheap and buy a lesser brand. When it comes to something as important as a power supply BETTER is worth it.

Fully modular, symmetrical, solid wattage, quiet 3/16/2020 7:51:52 AM

Pros: - The fan hardly spins unless you start really hitting it, so is nice and quiet
- Power output is good and constant. It's certainly able to boot my power up from sleep mode with no issue
- I have more cables than I need and more space for extensions than I'll probably need until I replace the unit

Cons: - There's a slot in my PSU shroud that shows off the HX 850 logo. I can't help but feel that maybe if it glows it'd probably not look so spartan down there. If you're RGBing your system from top to bottom, you may want to look at a PSU with some LEDs in it.

Overall Review: Works great, plugs in fine.

Built to Last (Writing this review 7 1/2 years after Purchase) 11/1/2019 1:15:55 AM

Pros: -Long Lasting
-Easily Handles Overclocking
-Quiet
-Efficient Power Consumption

Cons: -None

Overall Review: I have owned this product ever since I placed it inside of my PC I was building mid 2012. It has been through the best of times and the worst. Since that time some parts have failed me, others were replaced due to becoming too outdated. However, my Corsair never stopped. A few times I thought it did, but that's probably due to how quiet it really is. My fans went out a couple of times, but not my psu. I have owned this beautiful piece of equipment for 7 1/2 years now. It has a 10 year warranty if it ever stops working, but I wouldn't be surprised if I got another 10 out of it when the warranty expires. I'm in the process of down grading my PC, as I was 19 when I built my PC. I'm older now and I don't really need such a powerful machine. However, my psu was one of my parts I just couldn't let go of. There's absolutely no reason to. I'm pretty close to my IT team at work, they heard I would be switching a few parts to my PC and heavily recommended a 550w Corsair 80 Bronze +. I didn't have the heart to tell them, that my 850w Corsair 80 Platinum was just a tad better.

Most pieces of computer equipment becomes outdated in a couple of years. One of the only pieces that doesn't is a Power Supply. Most people don't think much about it when planning out their builds, but buying a really good one means after your gfx card becomes outdated and your storage drives die out and dust begins to fill your once loved custom built. It's good to know your Corsair will continue to kick badonkadonk. 10 years is a long time, trust me. I was a teenager when I built my first PC. Now I'm 26 years old. I still got 2 1/2 years until my warranty expires.

I highly recommend Corsair Power Supplies, if you don't pick up a 850. Check out some other options. Honestly a 550 - 650 watt should be just fine.

What a junk! 10/18/2019 5:31:03 AM

Pros: None

Cons: Worked for a day after the build. Next day the computer will power down and boot back up. Until it would not power up anymore. I'm like W&tF? Motherboard or RAM? I have an older Corsair HX1000 blue one that's 7 years old, I test this in my new rig and it boot right up. Corsair you ruin my weekend and now I have to tear things up to deal with taking it out and putting another one in. Very very disjointed. I'm dealing with Newegg to see if I can get this taken of now.

Overall Review: When something like this happens, you can't trust the manufacture, did I hit the jackpot? I wasted my time writing this review.
I've been running the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G5 power supply since I return this. I'm thrill with the built quality and performance.

Corsair sent me one of these to place AX 750 that I bought from Newegg 8/3/2019 12:28:34 PM

Pros: Longer than a normal PSU. Testing with a Phenom x4 955, 8GB memory and a 1050ti. Fan has not spooled up once. Running Memtest86 5.01 with with all cores enabled, so it should put some load on PSU. CPU is 46c and PSU is warm. No coil whine from PSU. This is a nice replacement for my AX 750. I don't know why they went with a HX 850 instead of a HX 750.

Cons: Can't say anything bad about it.

Overall Review: Testing it now, day after I got it from Corsair.
