Turned out 1 stick was bad, due to time lost being gone 30 day replacement was long expired. Replaced with a different brand.

Dear newegg, little confused here, what is the difference with this blue XMS3 and the seemingly indentical yellow one (platinum series) here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145218. Corsair website only has the blue ones, is the yellow one an older model with just a different heat spreader? Note the blue one is ver.2.12 while the yellow (platimum) ver.2.2, please confirm. I'd like to order the ones with better performance.

The only difference I see between the blue and yellowish older ram is the voltage. The blue is 1.5v and the yellow 1.6v

The 1.5v would be the better ram as it runs on lower voltage usually means the chips are of higher grade or could be they moved the chips to a smaller silicon die which requires less voltage. I think only Corsair can answer that.
