Overall Review: Rating is five eggs if you have installed other SSD. Four eggs otherwise, because you need to know the basics of some software tools such as how to initialize the disk (e.g. Disk Management in Windows), how to migrate from a hard disk to a SSD (.e.g. , Acronis), and how to reset the drive if you find unexpected problems (e.g. diskpart in DOS). I always read the reviews (thank you, Newegg) and sometimes I have the feeling that some reviews are unfair because they talk about problems with an easy fix using the tools above. For Crucial, and other vendors: be smart and invest a little bit of time to talk to your competitors and publish a common guide on what to do when the user finds a problem that you think it has an easy fix. Users will be happy and your sales and support people even happier.
Pros: I've had several of these drives and never had an issue. Drive is a very good value.
Cons: I've had 1 drive out of the box doa of several very good drives. Tried to get that drive warrantied through Crucial and their support was useless and a joke.
Overall Review: Good drive. Abhorrently poor manufacturer support.
Pros: I have used this for a replacement hard drive on over a dozen computers now, and have never had a problem. They are over 10x faster then standard mechanical drives and are just as reliable as some of the more expensive Samsung and Western Digital drives. They may not be quit as fast as some of the more expensive brands, but are plenty fast enough for the standard consumer.
Cons: None
Overall Review: See Pros.
Pros: My PS4 has a Toshiba hdd and it takes about 39 seconds to boot up. So I decided to replace the standard hdd for a Crucial BX500 240gb ssd. With the ssd installed, my PS4 only takes about 7 seconds to boot up. Also have an external 4TB WD Ultra external hard drive plugged in, and my games somehow download faster.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Will update this review if anything goes wrong. Note that a 120gb drive won’t work in the PS4, it needs a 160 gb or larger drive to properly function.
Pros: I have a Crucial MX500 running in my laptop which I have had installed for about a year or so. The device is fantastic. Very fast on startups and shutdowns as well as everyday operations. I am sold on the Crucial brand.
Cons: I purchased this Crucial BX500 just to use as a clone device because Windows 10 sometimes provides an update that totally corrupts the machine for some reason and a disk image, taken once a month, would provide an easy fix instead of a complete rebuild of the system. The SSD arrived and I laid it aside for a week or two and then tried to use it. It was not recognizable by the computer and was also unrecognizable when connecting it as an external device. It was simply dead on arrival and I currently am in the process of making a return for replacement. I am sure that now and again, a bad device gets shipped, with any manufacturer. Hopefully the replacement will work as well as my existing SSD.
Overall Review: My experiences with Crucial to date have been very good and I would recommend the purchase of there SSD's if you want to speed up a computer containing the older disc based hard drives. Since my original was dead on arrival, after I receive the replacement BX500 I will be in a position to truly evaluate the device and am sure the rating would be a 4 or 5 based upon past experience.
Pros: None to report - this is the first SSD that I've had any trouble with. I've had several of different brands.
Cons: Was DOA. The Acronis software could not find it and neither my BIOS nor Windows could see it. Now out of stock - so I filed for a refund and I'll try a different SSD.
Overall Review: I've had good luck with Crucial memory in the past, so I fully expected to have the same with this. I'll try them again in the future.
Pros: It was cheap and it worked perfectly for 6 months
Cons: It went dead after 6 months which means it is worth less than nothing can I trust a replacement
Overall Review: no good at all..... completely dead in 6 months with no warning

Pros: When I purchased my fist 120gb SSD years ago it cost me over $200. Now this one is $23. I have purchased 4 of these in the past 2 months. Every one has worked great so far (knock on wood). I run a small computer repair business and the customers LOVE them. A nice economical way to bring new life to an older PC or Laptop.
Cons: No cons yet!!
Overall Review: Yes.... I recommend to all my customers. If they bring me a laptop or PC with a failed hard drive... I recommend one of these as a replacement!!
