Worked great... until it didn't 12/8/2018 12:31:15 PM

Pros: Fast

Cons: Suddenly decided it didn't like any writes.

Overall Review: I used this to hold VHDs for several VMs on a Hyper-V server. Worked great for years. Then the VMs started misbehaving. I thought I was running out of memory on the server. Every time I rebooted the server it seemed to get worse.

Turns out this SSD was either failing or at best badly confused. TRIMming didn't help. CHKDSK didn't find anything. I moved everything off this drive onto an HDD. VMs behaved normally now, although slower. I used Crucial's utility to sanitize the drive and now it's behaving again, but I don't trust it. The stats on the drive show that it's used up about 8% of it's "useful life".

The drive was reading OK as I was moving the VHDs to another drive. I then tried copying large files back to this drive and it would go OK for a while (over 100MB/s) and then suddenly screech to a halt - like 10KB/s. Very strange. Seems to be behaving OK now, but when this thing failed, it caused the whole server to look like it was having a meltdown. The OS (on a different drive) was going nowhere fast.

Of the 5 or 6 active VMs that were hosted on this drive, one of the drive images seemed to get corrupted such that Windows wouldn't boot. Fortunately, I had a backup of the server that was recent enough to be OK for this one VM.

But what a waste of time.

So this has shattered my belief that SSDs were relatively indestructible. And the drive is out of warranty now.

Amazing SSD 2/8/2017 11:03:26 AM

Pros: quiet, fast, reliable, compact, energy saving

Cons: None

Overall Review: Don't use the packaged software to come your HDD to an SSD. It causes a lot of errors and crashes. Other than that, everything is perfect. The item itself gets a perfect review. Going on like 3 years now with no hiccups. Using it mostly for my OS and most played games along with some programming and networking tools. Works great for everything I've thrown at it. Significant speed boost.

Don't buy Crucial 1/22/2017 7:57:33 PM

Pros: Great speed, fast response.

Cons: I keep having problems with it, once in a while my computer just shuts down and the SSD is not found. Then the bios detect the ssd but windows still wont boot ... "no system disk found".

Now i keep trying to repair the boot, repair the disk, but no luck. I think its dead this time.

Loved it 1/10/2017 9:55:55 PM

Pros: Fast bootup and go. Beats superior rigs with HDDs into the game and into a functional desktop by a full minute or more. The most stable HDD of any type I have owned.

Cons: Speed bottlenecks below promised throughput often. I have never found a reason and I have dug as deep as someone with 25 years of experience building, and working on PCs.

Overall Review: I would buy a newer model if it got good reviews,

A very fast reliable drive that deserves your hard earned money. 10/18/2016 6:54:40 PM

Pros: It boots up windows from sleep, hibernate, shut down, and restarts in a manner of seconds. Windows runs so smooth and fast on this drive. It was money well spent. It is now my primary boot drive. After tasting this reliable speed, I couldn't imagine going back to a mechanical boot drive. Ever!!

Cons: None.

Almost 2 Years Later, Still "Solid" 8/25/2016 8:38:26 AM

Pros: Very fast
Easy to install

Cons: 7mm...luckily my laptop came with a 7mm hard drive and had the spacer for 9mm slots

Overall Review: Incredibly fast. I've recently upgraded to a Skylake desktop system, and I've gotten top-of-the-line parts all around, except for SSD. I have a 256GB in my desktop, while this product is in my laptop. I say this because the desktop has an M.2 slot...but I really see no need to upgrade when an MX100 (or any SATA SSD, for that matter) pretty much destroys a hard drive in every sense. Still very, very fast, and I am very pleased.

Good choice for a relatively large capacity, reliable SSD 8/9/2016 11:40:26 AM

Pros: -Fast
-Reliable
-Not as expensive as some other options, but just as good
-Silent

Cons: -Still significantly more expensive than magnetic HDD
-Even 512 GB will fill up relatively quickly if you install a lot of games
-SSD has some inherent issues that conventional HDD do not. Do your research.

Overall Review: What an amazing upgrade over a regular HDD. Everything is faster. If you are looking for a huge upgrade and can afford the extra $$ you should just go for it. This drive has been trouble free so far.
