PowerColor Radeon HD 6950 DirectX 11 AX6950 2GBD5-M2DH 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: -Plays Bad Company 2 with all settings maxed.
-No artifact that I previously saw with my other card (gTX 285)
-Was easily able to unlock to 6970
-Set up was easy

Cons: -Can run hot (I'll explain this in other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase.
1) I got the card for $230 from Newegg with Rebate. Can't beat that.
2) I unlocked to 6970 and pushed the power control settings up 10%
3) Can run hot, but EASILY fixable. I noticed that with my settings (6970 bios + increased power control) the card doesn't know how to kick up the fan under high load. Mine never goes above 37%. But there is an easy solution. Under Catalyst Control Center, I manually set the fan at 50%. It makes it kind of loud (not nearly as loud as 100%), but I never go over 70 degrees while playing. I've got the fan down to 45% and still have no problems. When I'm ready to play, I kick the fan up; when I'm done, I turn it on auto.

I'm very satisfied with my price to performance ratio. Sad that Newegg has this item deactivated

BFG Tech GeForce GTX 285 DirectX 10 BFGEGTX2851024OCPE 1GB 512-Bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Pros: The card is much quieter than I expected it to be. I grabbed this card to mainly play first person shooters (FEAR, Call of Duty: WAW, BF2, BF2142, and Crysis mainly). I've tested the three of them out so far and I'm about to run BF2 and BF2142 all at max settings and highest resolution with no lag. It's a definite step up over my last AGP GTS8800.

Cons: None for my setup

Other Thoughts: The latest driver posed no conflict with windows xp. I'm able to run my games smoothly and that why I purchased this card. I also dropped this kind of money on the card because I know it will be able to play games for several years to come. I have no complaints about this card or its value.

Brother HL Series EHL-2170W Workgroup Up to 23 ppm Monochrome Wireless 802.11b/g/n Laser Printer
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Easy to set up, wireless allows for the unit to be placed anywhere in my apartment (after initial set up), prints text documents clearly and fast

Cons: Lacks duplexing, graphic images aren't the best

Other Thoughts: I'm a student and use this printer mainly to print all of my notes for class. It works very well; I've had no paper jams. The starter toner didn't last me 6 months, but it did live up to its stated expectancy. The high yield toner for this model is cheaper on Newegg compared to other retailers (Best Buy namely). If you plan on purchasing, know that it is best to connect the printer to the computer during initial setup.
