SUPERMICRO CSE-732i-500B Black Mini-Tower Server Chassis
SUPERMICRO CSE-732i-500B Black Mini-Tower Server Chassis

Pros: A case and PSU for the price is very comparable. Plenty of power cables for nearly everything you might want to plug in.

Cons: Of course it's not the "coolest" case around but if you only care about the hardware itself (which I did) then it's a great case. It also had a problem with shorting out my motherboard so I had to put some material down in between to stop that.

Overall Review: Basically, if you literally want a plain case without anything fancy this is the case for you.

Great but HOT!!!

ASUS Z8NA-D6C Dual LGA 1366 Intel 5500 ATX Dual Intel Xeon 5500 and 5600 Series Server/Workstation Motherboard
ASUS Z8NA-D6C Dual LGA 1366 Intel 5500 ATX Dual Intel Xeon 5500 and 5600 Series Server/Workstation Motherboard

Pros: Loaded with nearly every feature a PC/Server could want.

Cons: 1) The Tylersburg chipset runs EXTREMELY hot - leave it on long enough and you can't even touch the heat sink! I tried technical support and asked them if this was abnormal and what other customers were doing but they weren't very helpful. I ended up just screwing a little fan directly in to the heat sink just to be safe. Crude but effective. 2) There is a "feature" for chasis intrusion detection. Don't remove the jumper pins on that feature (refer to manual) or else you have to take the CMOS battery out to reset it. Otherwise your computer won't boot. Some feature.....

Overall Review: Overall you can't go wrong with dual CPU's and the loads of features.

Works like a charm

Kingston 24GB (3 x 8GB) ECC Registered DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Server Memory Model KVR1333D3D4R9SK3/24G
Kingston 24GB (3 x 8GB) ECC Registered DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Server Memory Model KVR1333D3D4R9SK3/24G

Pros: Worked great out of the box. No problems.

Cons: No heat sinks on them doesn't get extremely hot either.

Overall Review: Fairly expensive but then again it's high-end material so it's worth it for a great product.

Simple and effective

Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound AS5-3.5G
Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound AS5-3.5G

Pros: Does as advertised.

Cons: Just make sure you use "half-a-pea-size" drop as too much causes the opposite effect of overheating.

Overall Review: A must!

Quiet and efficient

Intel BXSTS100C Passive/active combination heat sink with removable fan
Intel BXSTS100C Passive/active combination heat sink with removable fan

Pros: Cools extremely hot Xeon processors very efficiently.

Cons: Warning! Make sure you set the fan speed in your BIOS because out-of-the-box they didn't run at a fast enough RPM to cool my processors causing it to shutdown. Once I enabled "high performance" in BIOS those heat sinks kept everything cool.

Overall Review: Great heat sink with high quality.

Great just cool properly

Intel Xeon E5606 Westmere-EP 2.13 GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 80W BX80614E5606 Server Processor
Intel Xeon E5606 Westmere-EP 2.13 GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 80W BX80614E5606 Server Processor

Pros: Extremely fast

Cons: Runs extremely hot. Make sure you get a very high quality heat-sinc to go with it or else you're in trouble.

Overall Review: Great product just make sure you keep them from melting as they heat up almost instantly.
