Pros: Fit, Price, Sound Quality
Cons: Build Quality
Other Thoughts: I am addicted to earphones, especially the cheap ones. I buy them like candy. Most of them end up collecting dust in the cabinet after a few hours of use. I picked these up at NeweggFlash for $9. Didn’t expect much from them, but I have been pleasantly surprised by how good they really do sound. They are detailed. Vocals are crisp. The bass, which started off fast and loose, has improved with use. It’s still not what I would consider high-quality bass, but it's acceptable. High end is slightly harsh, but not to the point of being fatiguing, and that too has improved over time, mellowing a bit. What impresses me the most, however, is how airy the sound is, not something I expected for a set of headphones costing less than $10. Now, the fit- the bane of so many earphones. With the right pair of tips, these phones sit snugly in my ear canals, shutting out most of the outside world, and they do this without being uncomfortable. I wear them at my desk for hours on end and forget that they’re even there. Finally, build quality: These phones are fragile. After about two weeks of stationary use, in front of my desk, the left phone developed a crackling sound, like a loose wire or a damaged driver. I got one of the CS agents online in a chat. In two minutes, she processed an order for a replacement with expedited shipping. Keep the other pair, she said, or discard them. Best set of inexpensive earphones I have bought so far. Even at $25 I would consider them worth purchasing.READ FULL REVIEW
Other Thoughts: The unit is tiny- well, at least in comparison to my expectations- yet surprisingly weighty and stable on its feet. The weight suggests that it's well-built. It's connected to the eSATA port on my desktop and, boy, it's fast! I had a bit of trouble getting the dock to hot-swap. Turns out you need to have the Storage Controller mode in BIOS set to AHCI. But, before you do this, you need to first make sure that AHCI driver is enabled in Windows Registry. So, if you’re wondering why your dock won't hot swap, follow the step-by-step instructions in this Microsoft Knowledgebase article for modifying the registry: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976. Then reboot, go into BISO and set Storage Controller to AHCI. Everything worked out great for me. Hope the dock will hold up in the long term.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Quite, Attractive, Moves a decent amount of air
Cons: Never received my rebate checks.
Other Thoughts: At $12.99 each, with a $10 XIGMATEK rebate, the price of the fan came to $2.99. Good price, I thought, and bought two them even though I didn't really need then at the time. Six months later, I am still waiting for my rebate check. If you're tempted to buy this fan because you think you're getting a great deal (with the rebate)...DON'T.READ FULL REVIEW
