best computer case in the market
Pros: very sturdy aluminum, can detach mobo plate, support up to six 3.5 internal HDD, slightly bigger and fatter than other mid towers for more room,
Cons: extremely heavy, very expensive, but it's an investment for the long run
BAD customer service
Pros: works well when it works
Cons: i've had foscam ip cams for a while. a few months ago, i purchased my 5th one to set it up in one of my kids bedroom as a babycam. i've set them up multiple times for my friends and family, and it was no problem. however the night vision function was not working properly. at night, all i see would be just pitch black. i've followed the tips from the official website. i've scoured all the forums i could find to troubleshoot. however, it was apparent that the product was defective. in my attempt to rma the cam, i've encountered nothing but hesitance and reluctance. they took their time so that their arbitrarily set deadlines would pass and i'd be responsible to pay fees and shipping. when i complained, they would keep their complete silence and would not reply. when i was fed up and paid more money that they were asking for, they finally agreed to send me the replacement 5 months after. i hope and pray the cam works properly. if it doesn't, i'll sell it and buy from another company.
Overall Review: i understand that cost control is important in running any kinds of business. at the same time, there needs to be cost set aside to cover defective products and unexpected problems that you may encounter. nickleing and diming royal customers who have only had good experiences until things like this occur is a good way to lose business. it comes down to the matter of principles. i will never buy any of their products again. thank you foscam.
good while it lasted
Pros: super solid design and functionality. awesome for high end users, overclockers, and other tech savvy ppl who would like to invest in one of the best mobos. but....
Cons: after a little over 1 year of use, it finally died. i was running vista 64 bit first. when windows 7 finally came out, i was one of the first to upgrade to windows 7. none of the drivers from the website installed. they all gave me error messages. while trying to see if vista drivers would work, my entire system went black as if the power went out. a full day of troubleshooting followed. i tried a different power supply, different cpu, memory, and video card. finally the problem turned out to be the mobo. requesting for an rma, asus tried to get a good chunk of cash out of me, saying that in order to process the rma, something else needs to be fixed and it would cost me over $100.
Overall Review: it was great when it lasted. as far as rma goes, similar experiences are shared by my family members and some friends who use asus products. generally they try to charge you for some random things you weren't expecting. and upgrading with windows 7 has been difficult and slow. maybe i'm just unlucky as during the last several months, i've experienced a lot of my asus products failing on me and not upgrading correctly, and it has left me a bitter taste in my mouth. i own 2 asus g1s laptops, 2 desktops and a few other systems that i built for some of my family members and they have a lot of asus products in them. i don't think i'll be buying any more asus things from now on.
wow, exactly what i was looking for
Pros: does everything i need
Cons: lack of blue ray burner, but i didn't need it anyway
great fan
Pros: blows a lot of air, not that noisy at all,
Cons: it says that it can run at 3000 rpm. i got it hooked up to zalman fan controller 3, but it only runs at around 2200 to 2300 rpm. i checked the operating amp of the fan which is supposedly 0.6, and the fan controller provides 0.7. what gives?
best mobo yet !!
Pros: can support mac, very easy interface for overclocking, lots of features to play with
Cons: none
Overall Review: got SL installed, then on a separate drive i'm running windows 7, dual boot without making any additional changes to bios, overclocked my Q9550 to 3.82, sweet system
