Solid Board in Mini Form
Pros: o board layout is well thought out. o lots of ports for everything (SATA, USB, front & rear audio, DIMM slots, etc) o legacy & UEFI support o support for next iteration of AMD APUs / CPUs
Cons: Noticed updated BIOS available, downloaded and tried to load via Q-Flash, error showed Q-Flash version was too old?! Made a DOS based bootable USB stick and updated the BIOS.
Overall Review: This board is in a *nix based system. Everything works as expected other than temp reporting via acpi virtual. Working on drivers for new chipset. Looks like lm-sensors supports the Hudson D3 chip but not this one yet. Other key components include: AMD A10-6800K APU Crucial Ballistix 8GB 1866 Mhz DDR3 SDRAM (reviewed both of those as well)
Best Value on the Market
Pros: Purchased for use in a budget home media build. Due to Cyber Monday luv from NewEgg including APU + mboard combo discount, was the same price as lesser processors! o strong value o unlocked / tunable o integrated graphics o virtualization support o mature *nix 3d graphics drivers
Cons: No L3 cache.
Overall Review: Purpose is as *nix based multimedia system including occassional gaming. Will update this review after preferred high volume cooler is again available, installed, and APU has been further tuned. Build includes: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Motherboard Crucial Ballistix 8GB 1866 Mhz DDR3 SDRAM (reviewed those as well)
No Waiting
Pros: Got this RAM at Cyber Monday discount, so great value for top shelf memory. Plugged into the Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H board, enabled XPS in the BIOS, and I was off & running at 1866 Mhz! Will likely tune settings up once high capacity CPU cooler is again in stock. Will provide impressions & details then.
Cons: nadda
Overall Review: System includes: AMD A10-6800K APU Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Motherboard (reviews also available on those)
Logitech Does It Again
Pros: o True plug & play o Works well in non-Winders (*nix) environments o Keys have a positive feel o Mouse is responsive o No lag between switching from off to on and fuctioning.
Cons: Not bluetooth, so look elsewhere for use with tablet, phone, etc. (this was clear in the product desc, however want to reiterate it ;-) )
Overall Review: I'll update this review when the batteries need replacement. Rechargeables will be used at that point.
