This review is from: ViewSonic XG2703-GS 27" 2560 x 1440(2K) 165Hz IPS G-Sync Gaming Monitor, 1000:1, 250cd/m2, USB, HDMI, Display Port, Built-in Internal Speaker, Height, Pivot, Title and Swivel adjustable, VESA Mountable
Pros: Great colors, viewing angle, refresh rate, has gsync.
Cons: Mild backlight bleed. Monitor stopped functioning at 165hz, would shut off. Reduced back to 144hz, worked for another week and then shut off permanently. The OSD works on the monitor, it just cannot communicate with the computer.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Beautiful screen! It is very sharp and the color contrast is great. 120Hz is absolutely amazing for gaming. The smoothness is everything I wanted. Has a VESA mount. I have not noticed ghosting or bleeding much at all. Has completely eliminated screen tearing at 120Hz.
Cons: 1 stuck pixel. It is hardly noticeable. The pixel is stuck at a certain shade of red that I only notice in World of Warcraft in Orgrimmar, that shade of red. Have not noticed it in any other game or on my desktop. 60Hz on this monitor REALLY sucks, screen tearing all about. I have another Asus monitor, VH242H, and it does 60Hz much better than this one. Some games do not support 120Hz and then I suffer, such as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Some games require changing DirectX from 11 to 9 to get 120Hz, kind of sucks. The viewing angle also kind of sucks, but is not an issue for a single user on a well adjusted setup.
Other Thoughts: This is the cheapest good-enough quality 120Hz monitor with a VESA mount I could find. I am happy with my purchase. I have not tried the 3d, I have ATI cards and I haven't even bothered with it. It's amazing for FPS games. I've been playing Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 and it's beautiful. Starcraft 2 looks brilliant as well. Waiting for CS:GO!
I think I will stick with 120Hz from now on no matter what. Doesn't matter if its 1440p or an IPS monitor! 120Hz is that good. Gives me the silky smoothness I've always wanted, I feel like my computer can now show me its true performance. Never knew a monitor would make that big of a difference. Keeping vsync off and having no tearing gives me a performance boost!
