5 out of 5 eggs Reliable, lots of connectivity perfect 5/7 board 02/03/2016

This review is from: ASRock B75M R2.0 LGA 1155 Intel B75 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: I wrote an earlier review a while ago. I have since upgraded from an ivy celeron to a Intel Core i3-2100, with all SATA ports populated. It runs Windows Server 2012R2, and runs 24/7/365, for about 2 years and 4 months right now. So far, it's rock solid stable. It serves as the base for my NAS/Network Shares using FlexRAID with 7 hard drives and a boot SSD. I'm using an Intel PCIe 1x NIC instead of the meh onboard Realtek solution. The amount of expandability this board had for the price, and stability, is amazing. Too bad it's not sold anymore, or I'd recommend buying one.

Cons: Only 2 RAM slots but really, that doesn't matter much unless you need more than 16GB of RAM.

5 out of 5 eggs Bought one, liked it so much I bought another for work 12/21/2015

This review is from: SteelSeries Sensei RAW 62155 Rubberized Black 8 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Laser 5670 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: It's an extremely comfortable mouse. It's a simple shape, but the layout is excellent, the rubber coating is very nice and comfortable. I liked the one I bought for home so much that I bought another one for work. I have 2 years, and 1 1/2 years of use on them respectively, and both still work perfectly.

Cons: None really

Other Thoughts: Haven't used the software, so I can't comment on that.

MSI MSI Gaming Z170A KRAIT GAMING LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Overall nice layout
Looks great
Great performance, and features
ALC1150 sound card
Good customer service

Cons: I am revising an earlier review. The original motherboard ended up being defective. I thought it was my graphics card, but in fact the PCIe circuitry for the first two slots was defective, causing graphics BSODs when populated, but not when the 3rd slot was in use. MSI replaced it for me (Took 3 WEEKS to get the replacement from them) with a brand new, retail motherboard.

Works great. Then I start having weird problems where if I put the computer to sleep, or shut it down, it starts back up by itself a few seconds later, unless I physically flip the switch on the PSU. I try everything. Disable wake timers, and power on/wake up via USB in system and BIOS settings. I disable wake-on-lan settings for the NIC. Everything. I was ready to blame the PSU for detecting and erroneous power-on signal. or Windows 10.

Then I opened it up, and took out the GPU, just to test it.

I try to power it on. Loud sound from the speakers. The standby LED comes on as usual, the NIC LEDs come on. But if I push the power button, nothing happens. I try swapping the PSU with a known good one. Same thing. Standby and NIC LEDs come on. No power on. I try manually shorting the power switch pins on the motherboard. Nothing. This is the second motherboard. I gave MSI a try after 10 years of not buying them, and I get two defective boards in a row. Well at least now I know why my computer wouldn't stay off. Defective motherboard generating erroneous power-on signal to the power supply.

Now I need to probably wait 3 weeks for the replacement. In the middle of moving. And their customer service isn't open on the weekends, so I can't even initiate an RMA until Monday (it's currently Saturday). Thanks for messing things up for me again MSI.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

Other Thoughts: I hope they agree to cross-ship this time, since I refuse to wait 3 weeks for a replacement again this time.

Purchased a brick and mortar computer components store that stars with a Micro.
