This review is from: ENERMAX T.B. Vegas Duo UCTVD12A 120mm Blue/Red LED Case Fan with Changeable Modes
Pros: I have 2 of these fitted in my trusty old Silver and Chorme ANTEC P160 case. I spent a bit of time making a mounting panel for the mode and fan speed buttons.
Excellent price with rebate. Cheaper than buying one single fan.
I can get some great effects varying the modes on the front and back fan. Most of the time I have them set on static blue LED.
Very quiet at 1400 to 1500rpm, front fan (intake) is noisier at full speed, but I run the rear (exhaust) at full speed.
The rubber mounts supplies are very positive. Have a pair of needlenose pliers and a flat blade jewellery screwdriver to hand to make working the rubber mount through the fan or case holes easier.
Supplied with sticky pads for mode and speed switch mounting. Also has a molex to 3 pin power converter if you're not using a MOBO fan supply.
Cons: All the flashing modes get irritating after a while, so don't lock the mode change button inside the case and make them totally inaccessible without dismantling your rig - You'll want to change it later - if only to show off the other modes to your friends.
The rubber fan mounts require a bit of work to install and your case fan holes might need a drill run through them to enlarge them sufficiently for ease of mounting/dismounting the fan.
Other Thoughts: The blades are said to be removable for easy cleaning. I tried pulling them apart but was chary of damaging them - so they may be removable, but not that easily and especially not with the fan 'in-situ'. Anyway whats wront with a slightly damp cloth :)
Make sure you check the fan orientation for required airflow BEFORE you install the rubber mounts. I don't recall the airflow being printed on the fan housing but I could be wrong .
Very quiet in operation (well - as quiet as these drives can be, get an unbalanced CD or DVD and the drive will be noisier in operation at higher speeds).
Decent tray speed on open/close and decent read/write speeds.
Other Thoughts: Needed 2 of these to replace 2 older CD/DVD drives on my new SATA only MOBO. (re-using the old ones in a re-build). My local computer store wanted $59.99 each. I encourage supporting local businesses, but with rebates etc I think I paid $18 each - no contest.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Rosewill HIVE Series HIVE-650 Continuous 650W@40°C Power Supply
Pros: Works equally well top or bottom mounted.
Enough SATA power connectors for my setup with 2 spare for expansion.
Dedicated 12v rail and 20 or 24 pin MOBO connection.
2x Graphics card power supplies which my GTX660ti requires.
Ample length for neat cable routing top mounted in my trusty and spacious Antex P160 case.
Partial Modular so I don't have unneeded cable runs cluttering up the inside.
Bronze rated and on testing actually seems to outperform some of the gold rated PSU's out there without the huge price tag.
Large135mm quiet fan provides good airflow. I now have a PSU with double the capacity and 2 case fans case and the whole thing is whisper quiet unless I'm Uber gaming (in which case I'm gonna have the volume up).
Spare cable bag is a nice touch.
Cons: None so far.
Well you cannot actually remove the detachable 4 pin bit of the 20/24 pin MOBO connector and since my MOBO only needs the 20 pin version, i've got the extra 4 pin connector jammed against my DIMMS. ( I suppose I could strip the mesh back and cable tie it out of the way or use a 24 to 20 pin converter - but as these are bulky themselves there really isn't any point )
The HIVE is actually shorter but wider than my old PSU although some people have commented about having problems with certain case configurations.
It doesn't come with go-faster stripes.
Other Thoughts: Have never used Rosewill before for PSU but this reviewed well and was at the price point I wanted. I have not been disappointed. We'll see how it stands up under use.READ FULL REVIEW
