Pros: Price, value; much, much faster than the Vertex 2 it replaced. Very complete kit.
Other Thoughts: I installed this on my Abit IP35 Pro without a hitch. Bios is set for RAID as I have a pair of mirrored drives for backup. The downloaded transfer software moved my boot drive from a 480GB OCZ Vertex 2 to the new 240GB Intel drive with one click; very simple. Win 7 pro 64 bit doesn’t know it’s been cloned.
I had trouble with the OCZ disappearing but after about 25 test boots it is not the case with this drive. The difference in performance is amazing especially opening large folders of uncompressed .Tiff files. Seat of the pants feels faster than when I was set up with two Re4s in RAID 0 but without the feeling of impending doom.
I am getting the last little bit of performance out of my old SATA-2 board and Q6600 @ 3Ghz that I think I’m realistically going to be able to get.
Pros: Same tight timing as the 1Gb/DIMM memory it replaced.
Good price for “old” RAM.
Mfg. monitors the review thread.
Plenty of surface area on the heat sinks.
Overclocks well right out of the gate.
Sets to 4-4-4-12 without any problems.
Cons: No real cons when it comes to performance, stability or durability.
Other Thoughts: I have never had a problem with Gskill memory up until this last batch; Nov 2012.
I purchased 8gigs (2 pkgs) of this and had issues with both sets. One pair couldn't get through POST and the second died after about 5 boots while I tried to track down the exact problems. Luck of the draw I guess; it happens with all components. RMA with Newegg was a breeze; customer service is a big part of how they have earned my business over the years.
4-4-4-12, huh? I don’t know how long I had the timing set wrong but I did (accidentally) discover that this will run at even tighter timings. This would not have happened had used the number pad instead of the QWERTY. Gotta love that Intel P-35!
This review is from: IOGEAR GCS22U 2-Port USB KVM Switch with Cables and Remote
Pros: Plug and Play with no hassles or drivers; really.(see other thoughts)
Left/Right LED indicator on switch.
Compact, simple and easy to use single button remote with non skid bottom. The remote allows me to push all of the cables and clutter to the back of the bench.
Cable length allows for a comfortable work area between towers.
USB connectors are marked for keyboard/mouse so I don't get stupid.
It has shown to be compatible with Windows '98 through 7; haven't tried it on 8.
Cons: I'm just a little more lazy now.
Other Thoughts: With Win.'98 I had to place ps2 adapters on the ends to boot with out errors the first time. '98 found the right driver when I switched back to USB.
I did have '98 drop the connection once but it may have been something that I did; an earlier reviewer solved something similar.
The switch performs flawlessly with XP, Vista and 7; more than I can say for the operator at times.
