Pretty Cool

GIGABYTE G1 Gaming G1.Guerrilla LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE G1 Gaming G1.Guerrilla LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Looks cool and I trust Gigabyte. I have built 3 rigs using Gigabyte boards and all have been stable machines

Cons: All the cool stuff gets buried. The cool south bridge heat sink is only seen right after you pull it out of the box. Cards bury that right away. If you plan on usung all of your RAM slots, don't bother buying the huge heat sink and fan. You'll be left to choose heat sink or RAM. I chose RAM. heat sink... RMA... You know what one I'm talkin about. Nautica?

Overall Review: Untill I get an unstable machine from Gigabyte... I will stand by them.

Never ending problems

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Gigabyte boards I have used in the past have always went well. Not this one.

Cons: I purchased This MB to run with the AMD FX 8150. I have built computers from high end to low end and know the ones in the middle last the longest and are the most stable. I don't know everything but this is far from my first build. I RMA'D the first board and processor together because I knew on or the other was DOA. Newegg replaced the MB but sent the processor back with "physical damage". One pin, closest to the little arrow was bent. I know well that bending one pin perfectly and not the one next to it is something I did not do. But given the contract agreement, I sucked it up and bought another processor. Same make and model to put in the new board. This time around I was able to load an OS. I was getting blue screens with different codes every 4 hrs or so. I took the processor out to examine and found the MB melted at the bores where the pins are of the processor are places and a cooked processor with broken pins toward the center. Board and Processor 2 out the window. I'm a carpenter and know that if the hole and pins don't match up perfect, or the clamp lever pinches onto the processor unevenly, then we have a problem. Called Newegg. Newegg told me to get lost at first. Told me to contact AMD and Gigabyte. I did... They both told me basically that it wasn't they're problem and to go back to Newegg. I did. Newegg agreed to the second RMA. New MB arrives. Put new processor in it. Computer runs fine till the blue screen about memory management. Work through to find out timing set to auto is not auto. Check and make sure "profile1" isn't your ram timing. Today bios power management errors. Computer sleeping won't wake up. Fans and power on, no hard drive, no OS, no nothing until I removed the battery. This has been the worst build of my life. I used to love building PC's and hated Apple. But after this, I want to take this thing out back, drop it in a fire and fill it with 12 gauge shot, and call it a loss. At this point the fun of the build is gone, and I have too many hours dealing with problems. Too much money spent and time wasted. I have an old LanParty NF4 board running Win 7 that is more stable and reliable than this garbage. See ya later Gigabyte... Never again

Overall Review: Thanks Newegg for working with me even though it was like pulling teeth. If all was the way it should be, I wouldn't have had to buy 2 processors. That's just not right. I haven't even sent the other one back because I'm just so sick and tired of the mess that I can't take it anymore. If I could, I would accept an equal or lesser build to replace this headache of a mess

Pros: Price I guess. I put 3 of these in the Gigabyte Guerrilla to run in crossfire. After building the machine, and loading software I started up BF3. I went to the game settings to see what it auto set my video settings to. Some setting were ultra, most were set to high. After playing for about an hour I could feel the heat, shortly after the computer crashed out. I had experienced this the first time I built a SLI system. Big fat overclocked cards stacked over each other just gets to hot unless you want more fans. Time to water cool. Swiftech sells inexpensive heat sinks for these cards. Now these cards run stable and cool. But they still aren't the best. Setting BF3 to Ultra, runs ok, but stutters a bit. Much smoother letting it auto detect and adjust.

Cons: HOT

OK

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: What else can you ask for? It works most of the time, and unless you need proffesional or ultimate, it operates.

Cons: I orderd a copy for a new build. Opened the box from New Egg to everything perfectly intact, except the Windows cd. The box, including the plastic shell was punctured. The cd looked intact. Attemted install and came up with corrupt or missing files. Online, New Egg denied an RMA. I went to Microsoft and they wanted $30 for a replacement. I called New Egg and they issued an RMA. After I ship it back and get my new copy, a month will have passed... So excited

Overall Review: New PC sitting here waiting to run

Pros: Put in the new build and installed OS no prob. Tons of space.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I've been using WD for about 10 years in about 10 different builds. I have never once had an issue with any WD hard drive. Quality

I GUESS

Thermaltake ArmorPlus(Armor+) VH6000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case
Thermaltake ArmorPlus(Armor+) VH6000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Lots of room to keep it cool.

Cons: Fragile.... Plastic parts break easily. Front panel drive covers require directions. You Can't just pull them off and put them back on.

Overall Review: This is my 3rd case Like this through out the past 6 years and I think I'm done with them. They are too big, and too heavy... I'm not building a server, and don't need all the space. And for the price, I shouldn't be easily breaking little plastic snap in parts with zero effort.
