A good storage solution

Microsoft Windows Home Server Power Pack 3
Microsoft Windows Home Server Power Pack 3

Pros: You already know what this software will do so I won't go on about that--here's my specific experience... Configuration: I installed WHS on an older Celeron with 512MB RAM and 2-1TB drives. It works surprisingly well! The data is available when I ask for it (used to use a green external drive running through my router, took forever to wake up!) Media server: Works smoothly to stream all over the house, no problems. Folder Duplication: The folder duplication is a really good idea--backing up important files on multiple drives without having to run a Mirror RAID and back up everything. Remote backup: I built this box to replace my Linux home server, one of the biggest reasons was the ability to run a remote backup program (I tested it with Carbonite using the 30-day copy before I made my WHS purchase). Machine backup: Works well.

Cons: None noted yet.

Overall Review: Very happy with this software, I'm planning to purchase again for our church server to enable their remote backup.

Not much of an improvement

Crucial V4 2.5" 256GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSD Only CT256V4SSD2
Crucial V4 2.5" 256GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSD Only CT256V4SSD2

Pros: Does boot and shut down slightly faster (at first). Doesn't completely lock up or refuse to boot like my Intel drives did. Shockproof (more so than my platter drive was).

Cons: Performance degrades rather quickly, needs to be babysat to bring the performance back up to par with my old 7200 RPM drive. Smaller than my old drive was, with no significant increase in performance.

Overall Review: Bought this drive for a 2008 HP laptop running Win7 as I felt it would improve performance from my WD Scorpio Black (7200 RPM). At first Windows couldn't tell the difference (Windows index was unchanged at 5.9), but it seemed to load a few seconds faster (or was it wishful thinking?) Within 2 weeks, it took almost a minute to shut down. I tried reloading the intel storage drivers (vs MSAHCI), and now windows seems slightly happier (WEI went to 7.1) and the drive shuts down faster again. Other suggestions: Toggling the write caching off then on (with reboots in between) also helps, while disabling LPM did not seem to make much difference and hurt my writes. My last SSD experience was with Intel drives, so bad (lockups, refusal to boot 3 out of 4 times) that they went back to the store within 1 week (and I'll never buy one again). This drive is better than that, but I find myself wondering why I bothered. The sales pitch for the V4 (instead of the m4) is that my computer won't go any faster than the drive will, but after living with it for just over a month, I wish I had purchased a faster drive, and I'm really mad that I cannot return this one. The only advantage over my existing drive is that it's shockproof, while the disadvantage is that I will have to babysit it (leave laptop on for Garbage Collection, etc.) throughout it's limited life. Don't know that I'll avoid the Crucial drives in the future, but I will sure never purchase the v4 series again.

It just works!

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: With all the changes in Windows 8, I'm glad I can still purchase a copy of Win7 and wipe that brand-new laptop clean! Now I can get some work done instead of wearing out the mouse (or smearing the screen with finger marks!)

Cons: none

Works Great!

Crucial 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model CT51264BC1339
Crucial 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model CT51264BC1339

Pros: Purchased to upgrade my ASUS laptop from 4GB to 8GB. Made a huge difference! Machine recognized the Dual Channel mode and boosted machines speed and video performance. Well worth it.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Hard to believe RAM is so inexpensive. This is the single best upgrade you can do for your machine, be it laptop or desktop.

Critical for my computer!

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Pros: Very useful to replace the sad and disappointing Windows 8. Win7Pro version gave me the extra features I needed. Even more wonderful when it's on sale!

Cons: None, really!

Overall Review: Purchased to replace Windows 8 on a new machine, made the machine productive and me a happy user! It's sad that M$ did such a bad job with the new OS, but I'm relieved that I can still buy Windows 7 at newegg. As always, newegg rocks!!!

Worked Great!

Pros: Looks great, easy to hook up and connect, gives a modern appearance. Smoked color looks good, almost stock.

Cons: The smoked lens makes the light a little dimmer than it would otherwise be. Installation took some time as I had to enlarge a few attachment holes to ensure everything fit properly. The dust shield leaves a little gap next to the light, but I could fill that with black sealant if it really bothers me.

Overall Review: This was a great way to replace my water-soaked taillights and update the brake lights to LED. I also sealed the sides and top of the lens using flowable windshield selant (to try and minimize water coming in over the next several years). They look great, and I'm very glad I bought them!

Good seller, quick shipment

Was pleased with the purchase, I wish I had received a tracking number, I felt a little out of touch. I'm also used to the newegg standard of 1-2 days from everywhere, I had to tell myself this was a different vendor. Good thoughts: I found this item, out of stock, and asked to be notified when it came back. I got the e-mail, clicked on the link, and ordered it. 6 days later, it was at my house. I can't complain, really! The in stock notification system works!
