ASUS ROG Maximus IX Formula LGA1151 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 Z270 ATX Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Solid for overclocking as to be expected on a motherboard of this quality.
Phenomenal aesthetics, fantastic looker.
TONS of features and very expandable.

Cons: I wanted to give it 5 eggs, but the same thing with my Maximus VIII Formula, the lighting profiles are just awful.
With a company like ASUS, and a product like this, you expect PERFECT, and the lighting profiles on my VIII Formula and this IX Formula are just cheaply done. The lighting zones are not displaying the same colors all across, I use a green theme, and my green has hot spots. The IO is a vibrant bright green, but the REPUBLIC OF GAMERS is a very DARK green, nearly almost not even lit. My VIII Formula had red bleed, so when I set it to green, it looked like I was trying to do red/green for a Christmas theme. They fixed the bleed, but broke the vibrance/brightness. Even using the Aura software slider, if you put it in the exact corner, it resets and pushes more towards the middle when you hit apply.. What?..... ASUS, I know you're going to read this, PLEASE fix your Aura software.

Other Thoughts: Overall it is still a great motherboard and I do recommend it, just don't expect much from the lighting. I just want my proper solid color, I don't need the RGB spectrum.

Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 4.2 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80677I77700K Desktop Processor

  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Took two seconds and dialed in 5 GHz and a 1.35v and passed stability tests. What more can I say? SOLID!

Cons: Further testing showed that I cannot hit 5.1 GHz on this chip, but 5.0 GHz is very solid and great in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: I recommend this product.
