No DVD-RAM Support
Pros: Reads and writes discs fine Quiet
Cons: Does not support DVD-RAM discs.
Makes a decent Linux box, with some problems, after some modding
Pros: -Perfectly capable of running Debian -Easy enough to reflash firmware to plain Coreboot+SeaBIOS, which *might* allow it to run Windows (I haven't tried that)
Cons: -Only 16 GB SSD, however this is upgradable (requires opening the machine) -Touchpad is very difficult to use, and most distros don't support it yet (not a problem if you stick with Chrome OS)
Overall Review: I reflashed the firmware (to remove the Google firmware), then installed Debian sid with Fluxbox. It's a much more useful computer now.
Great board, it seems
Pros: -Seems to work perfectly fine -Lots and lots of settings that can be changed. I like settings. -High quality capacitors -More than adequate chipset cooling (unlike almost every other board out there)
Cons: -Buggy firmware (AMI Aptio, as far as I can tell) -Set the wrong VCore for my CPU at first (I ended up just manually setting it). This would likely be solved with a firmware update, BUT: -There is, as far as I can tell, *NO* way to update the firmware if you're running Linux. MSI: Your M-Flash thing is just about useless if you only provide an .exe file to flash the firmware!
Overall Review: I'll have to try running the updater from FreeDOS and see what happens.
Does exactly what it says
Pros: -Removed a thermal pad that was applied 18 years ago with no problems -Seems to get the heatsink very clean
Cons: -Very strong smell of oranges from the step 1 bottle, but I suppose that's just from one of the chemicals that they use
Overall Review: It would be nice if these also came as a kit with some coffee filter paper things, and maybe some thermal paste.
"Black" is not a supported color
Pros: -Looks good in most cases -Not one of those stupid widescreen monitors
Cons: -Does not display black, instead more of a dark gray
Works great
Pros: -Can cool a CPU with a 125W TDP easily -Quiet
Cons: -Incredibly difficult to mount without removing the motherboard
Overall Review: I'm using it to cool an AMD FX-8350, and it seems to do the job just fine.
