Doesn't last long 2/14/2020 10:42:10 AM

Overall Review: I have owned this unit for about a year and for the last couple months it would randomly power itself off (about twice a month). Rather annoying, but not enough to get me to replace the unit. Today, there was a power outage at my house for about 30 minutes. This battery backup did absolutely nothing. It is essentially a very expensive power strip.

CyberPower Pure Sine Wave UPS 1/24/2020 5:43:03 AM

Pros: Over the past 7+ years I have installed a number of the CyberPower UPS Pure Sine Wave models (1000VA, 1325VA, 1350VA, & 1500VA) on computer systems and entertainment systems. I normally replace my personal Surge/Spike Suppressors at an absolute maximum of five years in operation, but some of my friends have opted to retain their units for much longer. Some have had their units for more than seven years, and not a single glitch in any of them - not even a battery failure.

Cons: Cost is a tad high, I try to buy them on sale, but they're worth every nickel, even at full-price.

Overall Review: Highly Recommended.

High efficiency (really!) and a true sine-wave UPS 1/5/2020 8:53:45 AM

Pros: I used to design UPS systems, and I wanted to get a good unit to modify as a CPAP inverter and include a larger external battery. I have been using a larger version of this unit (1500VA / 900W) and have been very happy with it. This one has been very reliable and very low power losses. And yes - it is a proper sine wave output. Like most in this price range, it is line interactive. That means that the end load is usually just attached to the utility with a transformer being used to improve the line voltage range. The inverter is a 12V inverter that feeds a winding on the same transformer. There is a single 12V 9AH gel-cell type battery.

This unit came from Newegg with much better packing than Newegg has done in the past. The Cyberpower retail box was inside a larger box with bubble wrap. Much of the bubble wrap had been popped from shipping, but the UPS arrived in good shape. I was very glad to see the extra packing. I have received several UPS systems from Newegg in the past with the UPS systems damaged.

I used the software from their website to turn off the sounder, which worked great. Note: when pushing the button to power on or off the UPS, the sounder still will beep to warn you that you are killing the output or flaming it on. I personally like that to keep from making a bad mistake.

Cons: No problems, but the battery is quite small and will not last long if you drop a heavy load on it often. In general, the higher the load the shorter the battery capacity and overall cycle life will be. This is also true of more frequent power outages, even short ones. This is common to all UPS systems.

Overall Review: Efficiency numbers:
Unit plugged in and off (no output, charging battery) = 4W at battery float
Unit plugged in and on (no loading, charging battery) = 5W at battery float
Peak input power in at no load on the output and maximum battery charging = about 23W
Unit on battery (no load but maintaining the output voltage) = 1.8ADC (about 22W inverter losses)

Never us a UPS above 80% of its rated watts, which for this one which is rated at 500W, that would be limited to 400W. Higher than that will be risky (all UPS systems are this way). The internal temperatures will be very high, and battery capacity and shelf life will suffer. I plan to keep this one below 200W. The VA rating is mostly useless these days, with clean PFC loads. The inverter higher VA does help with inrush on motor loads, though.

Note that the internal charger cannot charge a very large battery, maybe up to 20-30AH added externally. I connected a 100AH externally with a charger and line triggered relay. In an extended outage, I can run my CPAP and a floor fan for nearly 12-14 hours (almost two nights). When adding an external battery, plan your fusing or breaker protection carefully.

I have been very pleased with Cyberpower products. They use nice designs and are manufactured well. I am all set for another squirrel getting into a transformer (**flicker** ... **boom**).

Good product 12/12/2019 2:03:21 PM

Pros: I like the compact form factor and sine wave output, the status display, and the build quality looks solid.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: This is providing battery backup power for my desktop computer and monitor. Works fine!

Good Value UPS 11/12/2019 10:24:26 AM

Pros: Does what it says, I had it for about a month and a half now, and it handled correctly a couple of relatively short power outages since.

Cons: After initial installation, the software had a few issues, so I wrote to CyberPower and received a prompt reply. A newer version of the software was issued a few weeks later, but I had to completely uninstalling the initial software (including manually removing 2 installed services, which were not uninstalled properly). After installing the new version, everything seems to work well.

Overall Review: Good product, and good value particularly when on sale at NewEgg. Overall I'm happy with this purchase.

Absolutely worth it 11/10/2019 8:19:47 AM

Overall Review: I've had this unit for 4 years now and it's still working fine, I often have power fluctuations at my house (especially when my air conditioner kicks on) and this UPS has kept my high end gaming PC protected all this time. If you are building an expensive PC it is totally worth it to protect your system with a good UPS

Still working after 5 years 9/28/2019 7:16:33 AM

Pros: I have had this ups (1500PFCLCD) for over 5 years (probably close to 6 or 7 now) and have replaced the battery once (I do this every 5 years even if the old battery is still working), There have been numerous voltage drops and spike as well as outright outages over that time and the UPS has worked as expected every time. Maybe I got a "good one" when I bought it years ago but based on my experience, I would have no issues with buying it again.

Cons: The replacement batteries aren't cheap and it is recommended that you use a genuine Cyberpower replacement when the time comes.

Overall Review: I don't think you will go wrong with this unit.

1500 VA Seems to be the Good One. 8/28/2019 11:01:08 AM

Pros: - Pure Sine
- Survived 2 blackouts so far
- It's nice to be able to monitor the wattage draw of my system
- Didn't notice the smell that some people mentioned
- Beeping and LCD can be disabled if you know how to read

Cons: - Nothing against this unit, but the research / shopping process of finding a good UPS was very long-winded.

Overall Review: A 900 Watt UPS doesn't mean you can't use a PSU rated over 900 Watts. My PC has a 1000W PSU, 1950X Threadripper w/ 64 GB RAM, Radeon VII, and two 27" monitors, all running on the battery backup ports and doesn't even break 500 Watts running at 100% load (180W normal desktop use).

When the power went out, the estimated battery time ranged from 15 - 45 minutes, depending on usage of course. I didn't run the battery down to actually test the time limits.

This unit is exactly what I expected, that is, a battery backup that provides peace of mind with my PC.
