Smart Versatile Perfect Economical
Pros: My lady for whom I bought the device says it's"perfect"! She never describes technology that way. She is giving this ac rave. We are a very technology savvy household so her opinion is educated. The device is highly configurable for a personalized experience. Its fast with good wireless speed.
Cons: The micro SD Tray is inconvenient and unwieldy. You will not want to move the card after placement. If you are using a SIM as well that goes double. It was tough to get the unit to locate our wireless which is not broadcast. Our other devices were a breeze to set up so the wizard can use some work.
Overall Review: Yes!
Good Product, a little quirky
Pros: The drive runs very cool and the fan is quiet. Assembly was quick and simple, although the tips provided by other reviewers prepared me to make some adjustments. Once assembled, the unit plugged right in and it instantly recognized by the Win 2000 Pro OS. I have used the drive in many operations, such as transferring large amounts of data / pictures across PCs and perforiming copmuter backup ups.
Cons: The wiring, as noted elsewhere, is little quirky. The drive mounts to the base with the IDE and power jacks on the opposite sides to the wire mounts; the manufacturer could swap sides which would reduce the amount of wire required in a very tight fit. You have to be carefully creative about how to place the IDE cable; I found that by folding the IDE under the disk just so provided a good fit for the disk to mount and for the mount to slide into the enclosure. Also, the power jack (like an s-video connection) is a little loose and disconnects a little too easily.
Overall Review: This is not a unit you will want to swap drives out of; you will want to mount one large drive into it, and then leave it alone. Overall, I am very pleased with its appearance and functionality.
