Not What I expected8/24/2018 7:33:32 PM

Pros: purchased 2 drives to use in a raid 0 as a scratch disk, benchmark performance was great and truthfully might have been okay as a boot disk as read performance of the 2 drives in raid 0 beat my 960pro in all crystal disk mark test (newest version) and could maintain 2.4+gbps read spead (filestransfer window) for 300gb worth of videos writing to my 960pro which fluctuates between 2200-2700mbps but was an epic fail for my purposes being mainly write related...

Cons: So while yes single drive and raid 0 drive perfomace was good on benchmarks, try writing any file greater than 4-5 gb to it and it becomes slower than my 8TB mech drive. I understood that it has QLC chips and a funny cache but come on 5 gb into a 10gb file and it slows to 90-120mbps write speed... I was expecting speeds to be at least 400-500mbps when cache was exhausted, but didnt even get near it. I have a raid 5 with mechanical drives that reads between 500-700mbps that I use for storage and currently use a 850 evo as a scratch disk and a single SSD blows 2 of these in raid 0 away on a 30gb file(or 30gb of files)

Overall Review: would not reccomend if you want write speeds. If your wanting a game drive and dont mind the install taking hours it would make a good drive, but if you may do heavy writes look elsewhere

Update to Ben B. review 12/15/175/12/2018 6:12:10 PM

Pros: Okay so from bios improvements all of my previous reviews cons have been eliminated by bios updates minus the LED issues. It took about a year but as of March 2018 (bios 7A95v18). I am now completely satisfied with my purchase of this board. Also MSI did respond to the review but I didn't notice till trying to write this update.

Cons: red LED indicators are still an annoyance but just cut all off but nonpublic and all but two go away.

Overall Review: So I don't know if onboard M.2 speeds have improved but my 6x3tb HGST raid 5 now performs way better. maybe not as good as on the x99 as I haven't benchmarked the same 500gb of large files to compare but reading off 2 500gb 850 evos in raid 0 writing to the raid 5 I see 20-40mbps on small files and 300-500mbps on large files.

Its G.Skill it works12/15/2017 6:50:31 PM

Pros: looks AMAZING first time I've bought Trident series. wanted RGB but didnt feel like dealing with lighting software as I'm using an MSI mobo. Specifically the MSI X299 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Bios version 1.60 (11/21/2017) ram works at rated speeds with little effort(see cons). would definitely buy again and may eventually to max out 64GB ram Haven't OC'd yet but will update once i have.

Cons: I enabled XMP and only 24gb showed in task manager HWinfo etc, tho it showed 4 sticks temps in HWinfo but performance was that of running dual channel mode. I manually set the 16-16-16-36-2T timings and all 33gb showed up stable at 3600MHz. However not taking an egg for that as i had previously been running G.skill 3000mhz CL15 ram running @ 3200mhz 16-16-16-36-1T. i changed the timings back to auto and rebooted before swapping ram tho so i don't honestly know why i have to set timings manually but as I overclock and enjoy pushing the limits doing so is no issue for me. the egg deduction is for price.

Overall Review: Would recommend

Server Pulls not Referb9/30/2017 9:24:01 PM

Pros: a 3TB drive for this price is a steal especially being enterprise grade. Purchased 6 drives. all drives had about 10-20 start counts and the youngest had 779days the oldest was 941 days. passed short, extended, and surface test after a reinitialize disk surface was ran. no bad block perfect working order 6 in an IntelRST Raid 5 yield 13.6TB usable space and reads @ 700MBPS (writing to the 960Pro) and for files larger than 3gb(movies, ISOs) write at 400MBPS avg.

Cons: small files such as music and pictures write around 20-25mbps but thats the downfall of raid 5 and better than the 6x2TB array i replaced it wrote 12-20MBPS on small files. can be noisy if recieving multiple write commands

Overall Review: would recommend and will be buying more

Another Great Samsung Product9/30/2017 9:15:12 PM

Pros: FAST 3250MBPS Read/2200 Write avg CDM results even @ 70% full and being used as OS drive.

Cons: Ran Warm in my case Temp 1 65C Temp 2 90C. put an EK M.2 heatsink on and now Temp 1 max is 46C Temp2 Max 67C Cant really see any performance gain over my 850EVO except in load times of my heavily modded skyrim and GTA V loads in about 1/2 the time

Overall Review: EXPENSIVE but DEFINITELY THE ABSOLUTE BEST on the market and they know it. Would still very much recommend. plan to buy another 2 myself to put in a raid 0 in an 8700k build around the 1st of the year

Best 140mm fans9/30/2017 9:06:02 PM

Pros: I had TT Ring 140s on my 420mm rad and while they were inaudible at 100% speed you couldn't feel air moving through the radiator. you can feel the air at 40% or so with these they do get loud in push/pull over about 75% tho

Cons: EXPENSIVE

Overall Review: would recommend if your using on a rad. by far the best ive ever seen for thick rads

Pros: dropped 2C off my 5820k using a swiftech h 320x2 Prestige 3600mm expandable AIO cooler

Cons: leds separate idk thats the only thing that could have made this a better product

Overall Review: would recommend for x99 chips for x299 spend the extra and order a mono-block directly from EK

Works Great9/30/2017 8:44:42 PM

Pros: saves me from having to add a sata cable and remove the basement cover enabling me to hook up my backup drives when backing up raid array. Dock is attached to the USB3 hub on my monitor as all usb ports on motherboard are taken. the 2tb HGST drives i use to backup my raid 5 hit 100-120mbps write both through asmedia sata port (secondary sata controller on x99 board) and this HDD dock. I use an old OCZ Sata 2 SSD in a USB3 enclosure and it is within 1% Crystal Diskmark results in both the enclosure and this bay

Cons: none as of now

Overall Review: would recommend especially on sale

You get What you Pay for9/30/2017 8:42:56 PM

Pros: Amazing radiator fans. I modded my EVGA DG-86 Case to fit a 240mm rad on the back door and these fans move more air out of the case at 40% after pushing through the rad than the stock fans did at 100% no rad. relatively silent below 60% but not unbearable until about 85%

Cons: expensive but 2pk price isn't to bad fans grey not white like the photo tho could be monitor lighting

Overall Review: would recommend over any other fan if being used on rads

Same Great product9/30/2017 8:35:35 PM

Pros: Works Great on CPU's has been my go to brand of thermal paste for years and is still one of the best performing. I heard thermal Grizzly Kryonaut was better so I recently swapped and AS 5 actually gives me 2-3C lower temps after it cures than kyronaut did(tried 3 seperate applications and gave each atleast a week to cure) max core temp AS 5=73C Kryonaut=76C

Cons: takes about a week to cure and give best temps on my i7-5820k running 4,5GHz core, 4GHzRing(Uncore) @ 1.343vcore took about a month to fully cure on my delided 7600k tho it maxes at 68C vs 73C and rarely runs 100cpu where my 5820k gets 1-2 hrs game time M-F 2-7Hrs S-S and 6-10Hrs minimum rendering with adobe/Handbrake

Overall Review: Would always recommend for Desktop CPU's

love EK products9/12/2017 5:59:05 AM

Pros: good build design, much lower restriction than anticipated cheaper for us in the US buying through Newegg as a premier customer xD the FPI is I think 22 but not very restrictive, putting PWM enabled SP120 fans in push pull makes them run 2000rpms at the lowest speed so that's a no go but found the rad doesn't need them. can feel more air coming through this rad than the EK PE 360 it replaced that was running push/pull

Cons: rad had a few chips in the paint but they were on the side that would normally be attached to the case and I carbon wrapped the housing so no egg loss.

Overall Review: wish NewEgg offered more EKWB parts

A steal at refurbished price9/11/2017 9:31:57 PM

Pros: a major upgrade from the MSI X99A SLI PLUS that was paired with my 5820k. This board helped me pass the 4.4ghz wall on my chip with only .037v more required running 1.397vcore on previous board this board 1.341vcore. also SLI PLUS board hit an ring clock ceiling at 3300mhz this board managed 4100mhz tho it has additional pins the SLI PLUS does not. haven't found any bad sockets works with Samsung 960pro at rated specs

Cons: was missing Wi-Fi card(-1 egg) had some scuffs on the I/O cover but as a refurb no eggs taken

Overall Review: I do not fill this board is worth new price but for sub 300usd I'm very happy with it. will update as time goes on

A must have in warm cases9/3/2017 1:05:57 AM

Pros: I have a custom loop with a 420mmx45mm thick rad on the intake(front) of my evga dg-87 case and a 360mmx26mm on top as exhaust so it's not uncommon to have 33C air coming into the case through the front rad during the summer with a 77-78F ambient. the stock 512GB Samsung 960Pro ran 62C on temp 1 and would breach 91C on temp 2 per HWinfo64 current build running 5 1gb runs of crysyaldiskmark. after applying this heatsink temp 1 was 52C and temp 2 hit 68C so a huge improvement there and a decent improvement on temp 1 aswell

Cons: was hard to get second clip to latch. Newegg doesn't stock the black,model...

Overall Review: I have 140mm Corsair ML fans in push pull on the front so definitely a positive pressure environment. Also I left the stock copper pad with the label in place

One Beast of a card7/10/2017 8:23:02 PM

Pros: I'm gonna start off by saying I purchased this card with full intentions of putting a waterblock on it. however for the near 800$ price tag I expected more from the air cooler (read cons) After putting a waterblock (EK of course) on it I am happy 2088mhz core 5558mhz memory. Firestrike graphics score 30043. I can play all my games (gta v, doom, cod aw&iw, rottr, mad) max settings 2560x1080 @144fps or 3414x1440 @90-100fps. the new deus ex holds 100 fps @ very high 2x msaa running 2560x1080 which is amazing compared to the 1070. Max temp after raiding 9hrs straight in Guild Wars 2 is 46C and 43C avg. 4 Hours of gta v max temp is 46C with a 45C avg. max temp furmark/firestrike is also 46C while hotter than I would like I'm happy as after 9hrs game play the clock still holds 2088mhz.

Cons: the biggest con if the wires for the front LED logo were broke off the connecter when I received the card (it was still sealed) however since you loose this feature with a waterblock was not worth the return time EVGA is a good enough company I don't see them voiding warranty for that should I have to RMA card. minor cons: yes it did clock to 2000mhz out of the box on slave bios but after 45 mins of playing gta v @3414x1440 the fps would drop from 100 avg to 60avg and when I checked temps it was @89C and had down clocked to 1500mhz range. setting a constant fan speed of 60% remedied this toping out @ 71C and was no louder than the radiator fans but still for the price you shouldn't have to do this. I will however give evga some credit as the air temp at the exhaust side of the front rad is 27-28c. Imo tho if I hadn't been coming from a gtx1070 ftw hybrid that clocked to 2126 solid no down clocked I'd have been a lot more impressed.

Overall Review: system specs: MSI X99A SLI PLUS intel i7-5820k@4.4ghz 32gb gskill 3200mhz ram gtx 1080ti FTW (watercooled) 256gb nvme ssd 1000w psu

good processor still priced to high7/1/2017 6:03:50 PM

Pros: This processor is a beast only held back by Intel (thermals). I paired this with an ASUS Z270E Strix and Swiftech 320 x2 prestige (360mm rad/pump combo) replaced stock block with an EK monoblock which looks amazing. running @ 5ghz core & 4600mhz ring(uncore) max core temp from handbrake render or aida64/real bench after several hours is 80C. stabilizes @ 75-76C idles around 32C. ***EDIT*** After delid with rocket88 tool and replacing intel TIM with Coolabs Liquid metal pro I was able to hit 5.2GHZ 79C max core temp but required 1.384vcore to be rock stable and while temps were perfectly safe i choose to stick to 5Ghz @1,296-1.328vcore (adaptive load range) with much better temps. my hybrid 1070 is usually hotter than cpu cores now even on GTA V heavily modded Skyrim. Core max is now 63C with a 24C ambient so I dropped 17C by deliding CPU. Shame on intel....

Cons: hotter than I'd like. 80C core temp isn't bad for 5ghz but could get another 100-300mhz if I delid as im only at 1.305vcore. personally feel it is wrong Intel is still limiting our performance by intentionally using poor quality TIM between the silicon and IHS requiring overclocker's like myself to have to delid, hence void our Warranty to get the best performance per $ from this chip. ***EDIT*** can set manual Vcore to 1.300bios(1.312Windows) and be stable but using adaptive requires 1.315 in bios which gives 1.296 in games and 1.328 for Handbrake renders. however i can except this as it pulls less wattage when gaming and idle than with manual vcore

Overall Review: Need AMD to get there optimizations done so intel has some competition.... System Specs: Intel i5-7600k @5.0 core 4.6ring Gskill rgb 3200mhz 16gb EVGA GTX1070 FTW Hybrid Swiftech h320x2 w/ EK monoblock 850 OCZ PSU 256gb plextor nvme m.2 ssd 1tb spinning rust (game installs) pass mark system score 6934

Pros: Paired with a i5-7600k and managed 5.2ghz after delid, however stuck with 5ghz do to extreme voltage and temps @5.2 M.2 NVME Raid capable, which i plan to utilize when i upgrade the x99 system with a 500gb 960 evo. this mb will be getting the plextor m.2 to put in raid 0 will update when that happens. EKWB makes a mono block for it. RGB is nice. Can control Gskill rgb ram however wife likes the stock rainbow effect

Cons: ASUS aura sync is garbage was constantly using 30% cpu usage so uninstalled dont need for rainbow effect anyways. never had to contact asus customer support but from friends experience hope i dont have to will update if i ever do Oh and the setting to turn onboard rgb off when pc is shutdown does not work bios or aurasync

Love This Case7/1/2017 5:52:45 PM

Pros: SO MUCH ROOM... I have an x99 system with a EK PE 360x38mm rad and an EK CE 420x45mm rad d5 revo and still have room in case. made a basement cover out of acrylic to hide psu/hdd cages

Cons: HEAVY

Overall Review: Would definately recommend to those who like to have the side panel side displayed and want to have custom water loops

Another Great buy6/30/2017 6:23:54 PM

Pros: Cheaper than Samsung at decent speeds and heat spreader helps with sustaned writes. Higher TBW than even samsung 950 pro and 960 evo. unsure if 960 pro so cant comment there

Cons: high cost per gb compared to ssd and intel nvme m.2

look good and quiet6/30/2017 6:22:41 PM

Pros: look good and quiet. they work but would only recommend as case fans and possibly <30mm thich low fpi rads

Cons: lighting must be set after every reboot/power down (on my x99 system). are inadequate for my EK PE420mmx45mm rad have to keep them at least 1200rpms to push any air through rad will be replacing asap. giving 4 eggs because cant hear them in my case at 1200rpms and the ek 420mm rad is on intake so they also have the front panel to pull through(removed dust filter helped some)

Overall Review: would only recommend as case fans or thin rads. they move alot of air as case fans but fail on a 45mm thick rad but i knew the possibility before i ordered

Great buy6/30/2017 5:56:19 PM

Pros: Awesome PSU but hey its EVGA so thats a given. definately more efficent than the OCZ 850w it replaced. The computer idled at 120watts with the ocz and 112watts with this one both gold rated tho the ocz is 3yrs old. love being able to only use the cables you need

Cons: none so far and if any do arise EVGA has the best customer support

great buy especially on shellshocker deals6/30/2017 5:45:57 PM

Pros: good key response mouse is a mouse but at shellshocker price cant be beat have purchased 2 one for wife and one for her sister they both love the rgb and awesome to not need software to control lighting. the lock keyboard is also a great feature

Cons: pressing a button on mouse or keyboard causes lighting to come back on but may be the pc setting not keyboard

Overall Review: would recommend
