decent case

In Win BL631 SFF mATX Slim case with IP-S300FF1-0 H Haswell Ready power supply, USB 2.0 x 4, HD audio, Air Filter

Pros: Things fit nicely together inside, the removable hard drive cage is very handy, and (unlike some other reviewers) the CPU fan guide plastic insert piece works quite well. All my contents fit nicely with some sufficient room for air flow (though mine isnt the hottest system around). I have two hard drives (one IDE, one sata), a sata cd, no pci cards, and a celeron with stock fan. Also, the PSU doesnt make a sound.

Cons: * Buttons on front seem kind of cheesy and flimsy * front USB ports are REALLY snug (hard to plug/unplug usb sticks, etc)

Overall Review: I'd recommend this case for low power media centers

ASUS P5N-EM HDMI LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 7100/nForce 630i HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5N-EM HDMI LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 7100/nForce 630i HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: layout worked well enough for my case, no major problems in setup, manual was nice and clear on setting up jumpers and connectors

Cons: * this board apparently cannot boot from USB, why does a modern board not do this? * Mine arrived with a non-functioning DVI/HDMI connector, too bad I chose this specifically for that connector * BIOS options are quite sparse and there is no internal help system to explain the options

Unreliable

OCZ Vertex 2 2.5" 180GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-2VTXE180G
OCZ Vertex 2 2.5" 180GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-2VTXE180G

Pros: Very fast drive when it's not failing. Made our database accesses 20x faster!

Cons: My employer purchased 4 of these drives for me to test in our blade center (IBM HS21). Some of our Vertex2 had firmware 1.11 and others had firmware 1.25. With drives of both firmware versions we had recurring problems. Drive periodically disappears (shuts down/crashes) and does not re-appear until reboot. This is under fairly heavy load and happens about once a week. Newer firmware works much worse than the old one did.

Overall Review: This is apparently a drive with buggy firmware pushed beyond its limits to try and take top marks in speed (which it did). It is definitely not appropriate for heavy use and may not be good for even normal desktop use.

ADATA PD7 4GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) PD7 2.0 4G
ADATA PD7 4GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) PD7 2.0 4G

Pros: it is shaped like a usb drive

Cons: it died after about a week, < 10 uses total. sector 0 is dead and unreadable

Overall Review: bummer, I had my whole os and config on there.
