GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: This is an excellent motherboard. I switched from a Gigabyte P67a-UD7-B3 to this, and I have absolutely no regrets. Boot time is much faster, much more consistent and runs much cooler than it's P67 counterpart. It's also able to clocks my CPU at a much lower voltage while being able to maintain a higher level of stability at mid-level overclocked settings (around 4.2Ghz). Previously, I had difficulties overclocking and adjusting my memory clock speeds and timings using a P67 board, but this board is much easier to work with even with low voltage memory (1.35 cl7). The EUFI is very clean and easy to work with, and I find the 3D display intuitive for inexperienced users. I actually prefer it over using a regular BIOS like interface with just words. It is very nice to work with. The fan control is a significant upgrade from prior P67/Z68 Gigabyte boards that I've worked with. The board comes equipped with 5 4-pin headers that you can hook 3 or 4 pin fans to.

Cons: Pros Continued: The Wifi / bluetooth card is excellent. To use bluetooth, you have to have the PCIe card connected using a USB header (either external or internal). However, the Wifi aspect of the card can be used without the USB header. What's particularly nice is that I play a lot of MMOs and get surprisingly low latency (nearly identical to what I was getting using a ethernet cable). Cons: I'm not the hugest fast of Gigabyte's motherboard software, but I generally prefer not to use manufacturers' software to begin with. I actually prefer the front panel headers to be more toward the right (where they played USB 3.0 headers), but this is pretty easy to get around. I would've liked to see a PS/2 port also for my keyboard. Even if it's legacy, I like having full N-key rollover.

Overall Review: If you're buying a Z77 motherboard for the Lucid Virtu MVP software, don't. It's really not that great, and it's pretty dependent on games that Lucid adds to its profile (even though you can add your own .exe files to the list). When I've added games to the profile that weren't already there, I noticed no difference in game performance. The PCI-Express x16 (wired to 4) slot at the bottom of the board will not work without an Ivy Bridge processor. It seems to be like this is how it is with most manufacturers who aren't using a PLX bridge chip to expand the amount of PCI express lanes. The regular & wifi version of this board are some of the highest quality boards at a very reasonable price point. I hope Gigabyte keeps up this trend.

Absolutely Terrible

ZALMAN ZM-RC1000 TI Aluminum / ABS / Steel Fans
ZALMAN ZM-RC1000 TI Aluminum / ABS / Steel Fans

Pros: It looks awesome.

Cons: I have never had to work so hard to attempt to get a product to work at its indicated specs. Upon opening and installing this product, one of the fans would not rotate, and the other fan was periodically obstructed by the frame of the cooler. I could not figure why one of the fans was not spinning at all, so I unplugged it and attempted to rotate the fan manually to see if I could tell what was obstructing it. since I could not see anything visually (black on black is hard to distinguish). --snap-- A wing of the fan broke. No big deal I said to myself. So, I power it on again and it sort of works? The fan still the casing that its surrounded by. I tried reseating the fans multiple times. No go. I had to take little metal grommets from my Antec Kuhler h20, disassemble the entire Zalman cooler, and stick grommets between the screws so that the fans would not be obstructed by the casing. I power it on, both fans work. Read Below--

Overall Review: Even though both fans technically work, both seem to make an obnoxious whining / grinding noise. I have some fairly loud fans in my case, but I can hear this grinding noise through all of it. I even resorted to trying to oil the bearings to quiet it down. This did nothing to alleviate the whiny pitch this cooler made. I've never had to work so hard to get a single product to work at its recommended specs. This is the first time I've ever had to give a product a 1 star review. It was just unbearable to work with, and the end result still left me with me with a whiny cooler. No point RMAing it since the shipping fee would cost me half the price of the product. I highly recommend people avoid this product -_-;

Very Happy

Crucial Adrenaline CT050M4SSC2BDA 50GB Solid State Cache for Windows 7-based PCs
Crucial Adrenaline CT050M4SSC2BDA 50GB Solid State Cache for Windows 7-based PCs

Pros: It was very easy to install. I shut off my system and simply hooked it up using a power SATA cable and a SATA III cable. Then, I used the instructions on the inside of the box to register the product on Crucial's website and install it. There was a dramatic speed increase after booting my system three times, and my game load up times have significantly increased too. The software is very low profile. It doesn't even show up in the mini task bar. Once it's there, you just kind of forget about it. I haven't had any issues with it so far, and the makers of Dataplex seem to be constantly updating their drivers which is comforting. I'm using this device to supplement my two 500GB HDDs in raid0.

Cons: I want a black SATA cable instead! Trivial, but what else can I say from a device that works as intended?

Overall Review: There's a great review of this device. Just Google up "Crucial Adrenaline Review," and it should be the first link.

RMA Success!

ZALMAN ZM-RC1000 TI Aluminum / ABS / Steel Fans
ZALMAN ZM-RC1000 TI Aluminum / ABS / Steel Fans

Pros: So, Newegg being as awesome as they are, granted me an RMA without question. Awesome, I thought. +5 rating for Newegg for excellent customer service.

Cons: The replacement I received had the same annoying issue that most people are complaining about (in addition to having the same issue as the first one I received): an annoying clicking/grinding noise that can be heard throughout the entire system making it beyond bearable to use. I'm willing to wager that most people are having this problem.

Overall Review: Like the other fan I first received, no amount of tinkering resolved the annoying noise the fan produced. Interestingly though is that ---if--- that clicking/grinding noise wasn't there, this thing would be near silent? Highly disappointed in this product, and I refuse to buy another Zalman product. It wasn't even worth asking for a refund or RMAing for a third one as I've lost all faith in Zalman and this product being at all reliable.

Pure Awesome

G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO
G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO

Pros: I spent a significant amount of time researching memory before I decided to make a leap of faith and purchase this memory. What finalized my decision was the amount of costumer support G. Skill offers to its consumers when it comes to the quality of their products. This is evident by the multitude of responses that G. Skill has made in regard to any issues with their memory (check any comment with a rating of two or lower). This is simply outstanding on their part and has earned them my lifelong support in terms of RAM. Aside from that, the memory shipped and worked at the exact settings described. I have chosen not to overclock these modules, so I cannot give any input in that respect. To get them to their correct timing and voltages, I simply turned on the XMP profile with the BIOS on my Gigabyte P67a-UD7-B3. No issues what so ever.

Cons: N/A

Overall Review: The pictures of these on Newegg's website indicate that the PCB is green when in fact the models I had been sent (manufactured in Jan of 2011) were in fact black. While some people may not care about this, I was very happy with G. Skill's decision to switch to a black PCB. Almost everything catered to the enthusiast market uses a black PCB, and these modules now match perfectly with my current setup.

It works!

AeroCool F6XT Fan Controller
AeroCool F6XT Fan Controller

Pros: It's a fan controller. It uses only 4-pin molex connectors, so you might need some adapters. It has 3 setting. It can shift from either being blue, black or no color.

Cons: A horse is a horse of course of course.

Overall Review: I chose this one because I didn't want an over abundance of displays on my front panel. I wanted something simple that didn't have nobs or switches, and this fit the description perfectly.
