Super Duper Peachy Keen

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B 1GB Project Board, 83-17300
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B 1GB Project Board, 83-17300

Pros: This new model boots up and runs way quicker than the last one. I run a Slackbot using this cute little guy, and it works like a charm. I just use Gedit to code and Node/NPM to run it, and the rest is history.

Cons: I had to 3D print my own case. A whole $0.75 of plastic down the drain. AND I had to have so much fun browsing to find the perfect one. Sheesh.

Overall Review: These things used to be pretty weak sauce but great for little knick knack projects. But with this latest model they're actually turning into a pretty decent little $30-$40 computer, all in one tiny package. Keep up the good work Pi guys.

Buying This Again

ASUS VN248H-P 24" (Actual size 23.8") Full HD 1920 x 1080 VGA, 2x HDMI MHL Compatible Built-in Speakers Super Narrow Frame Design LED Backlit IPS Monitor
ASUS VN248H-P 24" (Actual size 23.8") Full HD 1920 x 1080 VGA, 2x HDMI MHL Compatible Built-in Speakers Super Narrow Frame Design LED Backlit IPS Monitor

Pros: -I've owned this for about two years now -This can distinguish between whites and light grey -I find I have less eyestrain from staring at this -The dynamic contrast ratio is great -The controls are super easy, meaning that if you want to adjust the brightness it's just a single button whereas on some other monitors it takes quite a few clicks and menu navigation to do things like change the input, adjust the volume, etc. -Does not rock back and forth very much when I type like some other monitors

Cons: -Can't really think of any. I'm really happy with it, and buying another one now.

Big Bang for the Buck

EVGA 02G-P4-3753-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card
EVGA 02G-P4-3753-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card

Pros: I plugged it right in, downloaded the drivers, and it works like a charm. I'm old school so I just play StarCraft II and CSGO, but they both run super fast at all the highest settings.

Cons: I wish there were a VGA or second HDMI instead of the display port, but it comes with a DVI to VGA adapter so not really a big deal.

Overall Review: Happy with my purchase.

So far so good

ASUS Mini PC E810-B0114 Intel Core i5 4590T (2.0 GHz) 4 GB DDR3 500 GB HDD Intel HD Graphics 4600 Shared memory Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit with Windows 8.1 Pro License

Pros: Owned for about two weeks now. I bought this and set it up for my mother in law to replace her computer that just died. All the initial Windows updates and updating to Windows 10 took forever, and of course there's all of Asus's bloatware to uninstall which takes longer on a non SSD computer. But if you have other stuff work on while it's downloading/installing for about 4 hours then it's no biggie. Now that the computer is upgraded to Windows 10 and everything is setup it runs smoothly and no issues so far. It's a great deal for the price, especially if you're looking for a Windows Pro license (I use that to remote in sometimes to be tech support).

Cons: Asus's bloatware. Ungh. I wish that there were a 1/8" jack on the back, or an HDMI port to get audio out. Right now I've got the speakers plugged into the front and it just looks kind of ugly, but not a big deal.

Overall Review: I'd probably buy this again if I needed to.

Works Like a Charm

HyperX FURY 4GB DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model HX318C10F/4
HyperX FURY 4GB DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model HX318C10F/4

Pros: It does exactly what RAM is supposed to do. I even tested it by opening up every program possible and a million Chrome tabs to make sure the computer didn't crash at a certain point, and no issues at all.

Cons: I just dropped it into the motherboard and it worked like a charm. It also looks good in the computer (I have blue LED lights with one of those cases with transparent windows).

Overall Review: Would buy again if I get to the point that I need even more RAM

Worked for 19 months

SAMSUNG 840 Series 2.5" 250GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7TD250BW
SAMSUNG 840 Series 2.5" 250GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7TD250BW

Pros: I switched over from a traditional hard disk to an SSD and I shaved over a minute off my boot time, not to mention the massive speed-up from those first-time loads of software. I love, love, loved this SSD. The free Samsung Data Migration software available online was also very easy to use and effective. Overall it was a 5 eggs purchase, especially when it was on sale.

Cons: The only downside is that 19 months later it died. Total bummer. However, it's still under its 3-year warranty so I'm sending it in to Samsung to see if they'll fix/replace it.

Overall Review: Always back up everything, no matter what.
