Pros: This is the best ASUS motherboard I've owned so far. Easy BIOS updates. Clean layout. Overclocks easily. Plenty of sata ports for raid 5. With 32gigs of ram this thing flies. I caught this on sale and when it came in the mail, packaged nicely, I couldn't believe that it was a refurb, everything came with it including the Sli bridge, and no marks,chips, or scratches.
Overall Review: Yes, I will buy ASUS refurb, again
Trying to get a response from ASRock...
Pros: Intel chipset, easy to setup and for the most part it works. Ultra m.2 slot 2 recognized my OCZ RD400 nvme pcie3 ssd. Windows 10 installed and boots. Memory auto overclocks . Made a nice system out of this one. But....
Cons: Ultra m.2 slots 1 & 3 do not recognize OCZ RD400 nvme pcie3 ssd's in bios in any configuration of bios. There goes the reason I bought this one, No potential for Raid 0 with OCZ RD400 nvme pcie3 ssd's. ASRock has been notified of the problem and I am still waiting for a solution ( might be a while). In the mean time they should remove the OCZ RD400 from the approved list.
Overall Review: This make me wonder about all the good reviews out there. Has anyone else tried all three m.2 slots with approved nvme ssd's? If and when this issue is resolved this motherboard deserves a five star rating.
Pros: Very good ssd. This unit is very fast on reads and writes. Replaced an SM951 256gb ahci version, and is very stable, no thermal throttling. I've been waiting for a little competition in the m.2 pci3 x4 class and found it in this product. Works well in my z97 extreme 6 motherboard after cloning win 10 pro with macrium reflect free edition. I'm sure this will work just fine with the x99 and z170 chipsets also and some z87 with the correct bios update.
Cons: May 2017. Tried to use 2 of these on an ASRock z270 Taichi motherboard in raid 0 because I had them and they are on the approved list from ASRock. Nowhere in the paperwork does it state that the motherboard doesn't support these drives . Take a look at response from the rocket scientist from ASRock.
Overall Review: five star recommended for real motherboard manufacturers and no stars for ASRock z270 Taichi . Note: The Windows 10 driver works to set this ssd drive up, but download the nvme driver from OCZ to get the best performance. Your benchmarks will show a higher performance score.
ASROCK does it again.
Pros: M.2 pcie2 x4 ( must update bios to get NVME support) PCIE3 x16 slot for gpu . Supports 2400 Ram. AMD x4 860k with stock fan over clocked to 4.3 via onboard Asrock over clock utility.
Overall Review: I had a lot of fun playing around with this board with two different m.2 ssd's. An sm951 achi with the stock bios. Then a ocz rd400 nvme after updating the bios to the latest. Both worked perfectly. 3 gpu,s a gtx 770 2gb strix , a gtx 970 ssc 3.5+gb, and my favorite was a sapphire r9 fury 4gb hbm. Great board to build a low end system with.
Pros: Perfect case for m-atx build. Shipped in a Heavy cardboard factory box with thick rigid styro-foam for protection. Included all parts needed including a #2 screwdriver. I removed the 3.5 cage to make room for a gtx 770 2gb gpu, (didn't need a drive in there for this build ) but needed the room to plug in the power cable as they were touching the cage. Plenty of room for an evga 850 cq p/s. Fans are surprisingly quite. Nice placement of power switch, reset switch, usb2 X2, usb3, microphone/headphone jacks and card reader. Easy install of motherboard and plate. The pre-installed cables are more than long enough for any type build. The top screen was a bonus, and when lifted of gives quick access to the motherboard unless you install fans or liquid cooling .
Cons: No opening under motherboard to add other type heat sink's whether air or liquid cooling, must install on motherboard beforehand. Rather tight space to secure mounting screws on gpu. (Needs usb 3.1 preinstalled on next upgrade.)
Overall Review: All around good case with plenty of air flow and options. I have to give this 5 eggs because I really like this case even with the cons listed above.
