UPDATE - 3 out of the 5 drives I purchased were DEAD ON ARRIVAL
Pros: I recently purchased five of these drives to help replace laptop drives for a non-profit. My third, fourth and fifth drive were dead. I paid $12 to return them to Western Digital and received three "Recertified" drives later. The three "Recertified" drives I received we're DEAD.
Cons: I'm out at least $160 and now have to waste more time and money returning a SECOND set of THREE dead drives. I cannot express how frustrating this is.
Overall Review: I buy several hundred drives a year and I'm not stupid. I expect a certain amount of Dead on Arrival parts a year but to have three out of a batch of five come in DEAD and then to have to deal with three DEAD replacement drives is INSULTING.
PURCHASED FIVE, TWO ARE BAD.
Pros: Purchased five of these drives for my repair shop. Two are bad and I haven't gotten through the rest of the five yet. I used to have allot of trust in WD drives and this experience has left me questioning whether I should continue buying WD.
Cons: I used to purchase WD drives en masse thinking I could save time / money but after this experience it makes me rethink this strategy.
Pros: Unit worked for ONE day. ONE day. Don't buy this model. We now have to pay for shipping to ship it to SamSung for them to take another two weeks or more to repair and return.
Cons: I'll never buy a Samsung anything ever again. Also will never buy a BR disk player online. Easier to return if you get it locally like from Costco.
