Same cost as SATA SSD, 3x faster.
Pros: -Getting 1731 write and 833 read. -About the same cost an an 850 Evo -No drivers needed for Win 10
Cons: -No documentation or anything included. Just a small box with some specs listed on it and the drive in a plastic tray. -Its not the same experience you get going from a spinning disk to a SATA SSD. Its faster but its only a second or 2 quicker and not too noticeable.
Overall Review: Never installed or used an m.2 drive before. Was a bit of a hassle installing due to my m.2 slot being under my video card and having to remove that. I kept getting errors trying to install windows and after doing a bit of reading I had to disconnect my SATA drives (I just disabled the SATA controller in the bios) to get windows to install. After the install there was no issues with using my other SATA drives (after I re-enabled them).
Would not run at XMP profile speeds
Pros: Neweggs side of things was great, fast shipping and product arrived safe. Memory itself looks nice, the red on the sides is hard to see once installed which to me is a plus. System was able to boot at stock speeds of 2133 and when running windows memory diagnostic neither kit had any errors.
Cons: Running with a Ryzen 7 3700x on an ASRock B550m Pro4 motherboard I was unable to get either of the 2 kits I got to run at their rated XMP profile speed of 3600. Tried with the 1.2 BIOS and the 1.9 BIOS. With 4 sticks would not boot, with 2 sticks would not boot, with 1 stick would not boot. Clear the CMOS and it would boot fine at 2133 in any combo.
Overall Review: Not impressed with this memory. If its cheap and you are not going to run at the rated speed it may be worth it. The McDonalds value meal in price difference between this and a better brand is not worth the headache to have it run correct out of the box.
Causes my motherboard ethernet to drop out, otherwise works fine I guess
Pros: Ram works at rated speed. All 32 gigs of it shows.
Cons: On my system it causes the onboard ethernet to drop out. Tried each stick in every slot and no luck. Plugging in a USB wireless adaptor still gets me get online though.
Overall Review: As I had stated, memory works and boots at XMP speeds. Having an issue with my system where when this ram is installed in any combination my motherboards ethernet controller will drop out and not work. I am running a MSI B450M Mortar Max with a 5900x. My old ram which is is 16gb G.Skill B Die ram works fine, just needed a bit more ram for some of the projects I am taking on. Have tried the Crucial Ballistix ram in every memory slot at every speed and no matter what the motherboards onboard ethernet will not work with the ram installed. I am really scratching my head at the issue. Tried updating all my drivers, chipset, ethernet, video card, and make sure windows update is current. Even updated the BIOS to the latest revision with no luck. Have been in contact with Crucial customer support which for the most part has been more than helpful but we are still working to find solution to this issue.
