VERY PEASED - Long Time Self-Builder
Pros: -packed exceptionally well -everything in the description was included in the shipped product -nothing damaged -all the extras leftover from individual parts came with the shipment -everything works as expected
Overall Review: I have built my own gaming PCs for nearly 20 years now, but couldn't find a 3090 video card in stock anywhere to use in a new build. By word of mouth, I learned about the ABS builds on Newegg and decided to purchase one closest to the specs I wanted in my next self-build. I am very pleased with the results. I received everything I wanted, with the exception of additional RAM, and that was easy to accommodate with two additional 16MB sticks ordered separately and on the way for only $120 more. Buying this pre-built PC from ABS only came out to a few hundred more dollars than I would have paid myself for similar parts. Now that I can see firsthand the quality of their work, paying them the few extra hundred dollars for the work was completely worth it. When I unpacked the PC, I made sure everything was well seated inside the case before turning it on for the first time. Like many of you reading here, it was no problem for me that this PC doesn't come with a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. We already have those, just the way we want them and don't need them with a new build. Keyboard, mouse, and monitor are very personal and subjective. I like that ABS didn't make me pay for peripherals that would be just thrown away upon receipt. Everything worked right away when I turned on the power. The only thing that was not to my immediate liking was the default fan speed -- especially the high noise of the two fans pushing air through the CPU cooler at the top of the case. Even though I had not previously used the fan controller included with this build before, it was pretty easy to find the software and adjust the fans and pump for the CPU cooler. It was also easy to adjust the lighting using the same controller software. The lighting for the GPU is controlled through a separate application that comes pre-installed on the PC, and that was also easy to use. After using the PC for a day for both light work-related tasks and for gaming, I have found the sweet spot for fan speed on this build is 1,000 rpm for all 6 fans. I have the pump for the CPU cooler set to the pre-configured "balanced" setting. This keeps the CPU and GPU perfectly cool for those light tasks and at reasonable temps for gaming. These fan/pump settings are keeping the CPU at 30c and the GPU at 40c for light tasks. The exact same fan/pump settings are keeping the CPU just under 50c and the GPU around 70c while playing my current game (New World) on very high settings and uncapped fps. These static settings have allowed me to have a nearly whisper-quiet fan/pump setting for all situations. Set it and forget it without the need for custom curves or switching profiles. Very convenient. I ordered this product on a Wednesday afternoon in Virginia and selected the expedited shipping. I got a notice that afternoon that it shipped out from a facility in California. I received the box the next day before Noon. Much faster than I expected was possible. I enthusiastically recommend ABS and this build to anyone looking for a solid high-end build or for someone looking for that, "I couldn't have built it better myself," convenience build. I also enthusiastically recommend purchasing products from Newegg. All of my purchasing experiences have been positive with them over the years. I am not affiliated with ABS or Newegg in any way other than being a customer. I am an over-50 long-time gamer in the evenings and Internet industry executive during the day. Thank you ABS and Newegg. Great work. You should be proud of yourselves and the exemplary service you provide.
Well Performing (Noisy) Card
Pros: This card performs very well. It runs GW2 excellently.
Cons: This card is very noisy. I know that is common with high end cards, but this one is the noisiest I've ever owned. For the price, I expect a cooling solution that doesn't sound like a buzz saw. I dropped one egg for this reason only. Other than the noise, this card is awesome.
Overall Review: I have found FPS in games is not only dependent upon the caliber of your graphics card, but the performance of your CPU. I see it as a combined effort between those two devices. I saw no different with this card. I have this card paired with a i5-3570k Ivy Bridge processor. Pairing this card with the clock speed of this CPU gave me about 75 FPS average in Guild Wars 2 with all the graphics settings turned all the way up (1920 x 1080). When I overclocked the processor to a stable 4.2 the FPS picked up significantly in the game with all other settings staying the same. It brought it up to 110 FPS average.
Pros: I picked up this RAM for a new gaming PC build. The RAM works as expected and looks nice (if that type of thing is important to you.)
Cons: This RAM scores a 7.8 (September 2012) in the Windows performance test. I really wanted it to be 7.9, but certainly not something to drop an egg over.
Overall Review: I have not attempted to overclock this RAM yet. It would likely give me the 7.9 score I am looking to achieve. I'll update the review when I have time to overclock.
Easy Install and Low CPU Temps
Pros: This cooler was very easy to install and is keeping my overclocked ivy bridge i5 under 30c at idle and under 50c under heavy gaming load (GW2 & D3).
Cons: The included install instructions could be better. See "other thoughts" for help.
Overall Review: Doing a youtube search on the name of the product brings up some very helpful how to install videos that made it a snap.
