Not too shabby

EVGA GeForce 6800GS 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card 256-A8-N387-TX
EVGA GeForce 6800GS 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card 256-A8-N387-TX

Pros: Comes very close to 6800GT at default clock speeds. Plays newest games on all high settings but not always highest resolution or with AA and AF on highest. Masked (hidden) pipes are present just as in 6800 vanilla and 6800le. Have not tried overclocking, but based on benchmarks it would be as good or better than 6800GT once overclocked a very reasonable amount without aftermarket cooling.

Cons: Unlocking the 4 pixel pipes and 1 vertex pipe DOES causes artifacts, but only unlocking the vertex pipe does not cause artifatcs.

Overall Review: The artifacts might not be the experience that all users have, because not every processor is exactly the same. The masked pipes might work better on some than others, I think it is the luck of the draw based on other peoples reviews. One thing to note there is that some people just may not notice the artifacts because they have not run the proper tests. Either that or they just do not notice them because in some instances there are not many, and they are hard to see.

Great Overclocker

PQI TURBO 512MB (2 x 256MB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PQI3200-512DBH
PQI TURBO 512MB (2 x 256MB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PQI3200-512DBH

Pros: Excellent ability to do high overclocking while remaining totally stable. Heatsink looks good. Good price for such great overclocking potential.

Cons: NONE

Overall Review: Currently running at 230MHz FSB all day, and can go a lot higher

Chillin...

ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro - Compact Multi-Compatible Tower CPU Cooler | 92 mm PWM Fan | for AMD AM4 and Intel 115x CPU | Recommended up to 115 W TDP
ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro - Compact Multi-Compatible Tower CPU Cooler | 92 mm PWM Fan | for AMD AM4 and Intel 115x CPU | Recommended up to 115 W TDP

Pros: Amazing results! Reduced temp from 65c and as high as 70c at load to never going higher than 52c at full load running Prime95 maximun heat test. At idle it went from 52c to around 39c. Keep in mind this on a P4 3.0GHz overclocked to 3.5GHz.

Cons: NONE

Overall Review: Do not waste your money on any other cooling method. I have this thing running at much less than stock temps while doing a 500MHz overclock. Plus I bet it could handle a lot more if my CPU could as well.

Tight Budget

AOpen GeForce 6600GT 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card 90.05210.616

Pros: Inexpensive, especially with the rebate. Decent proformance for those on a tight budget. Small and light, will fit in most cases. Newegg's amazingly fast and reliable shipping.

Cons: Very badly beaten by any 6800 class GPU. The 6600GT's faster RAM and clock speeds do not make up for it having only 8 pixel pipes. Even vanilla 6800s (which are hard to find now) have 12 pixel pipes and 5 vertex pipes and many can be unlocked to 16 p.pipes and 6 v.pipes. The 6600GT uses a different GPU which is maxed at 8 pixel pipes.

Overall Review: This card coupled with a decent cpu (3.0GHz and up) and 1GB of memoey, will play most new games at medium settings, but don't think about turning on AA and AF unless you plan on running the game in 800x600 or even less in some games.
