Pros: I have purchased a number of HGST drives including 6 of this series; all through newegg. 2 were mounted in my old system (Mac Pro 1,1), two in clients' systems (Windows PC's) and 2 in my new (to me) Mac Pro 5,1. So far, all of them have performed flawlessly. Low temps, very fast and ready access to much-needed storage space at what I would consider a very affordable price. I purchased two of these about 15 months ago; the other 4 were purchased about 6 months ago. So far, I've had no problems with any of them, nor with any HGST drive I've bought. I know of no hard-drive product line that is without a few defective individuals but these have been as good as I've seen in 24 years of working on computing systems. I would recommend them without hesitation. In fact, I'm ordering two more today (which is how I came to write this review).
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: I've seen several low-egg reviews commenting on the lack of included documentation and software utilities. These are BARE DRIVES; they are not intended for 'consumers' but are marketed with system builders like myself (who neither want nor need docs or software) in mind. Just a word to the wise. Documentation and utilities, if needed, are readily available online.
Very Durable, Very Dependable
Pros: Durable, dependable, stands up well to rough usage and conditions.
Cons: Case could be made somewhat stronger, an attached terminal cover would be nice.
Overall Review: This has been the best and most useful flash device I've ever owned. I am a technician with a clientéle of about 700. I use this stick to carry useful tools, utilities, diagnostic files, links to useful sites and documentation related to my profession. This device is particularly useful in that it attaches to my key-ring, ensuring that I have it with me at all times; like the country doctor of old, I'm often called upon to diagnose or repair computers when in unlikely situations, once someone figures out that I am a technician. A secondary (but important) benefit for me is that, being attached to my keyring, it is impossible for me to inadvertently forget it at a clients residence or place of business, as I can't drive away without it. My current one has been with me for almost 5 years and has lived in my pockets, along with keys, change and other miscellaneous items and has been subjected to the treatment accorded to most key-rings and never once has it malfunctioned or required reformatting. I would unhesitatingly recommend this device. It isn't all that often that I can, without reservation, give a five-star rating to a product; it is a pleasure to do so in this case.
An Excellent wireless card
Pros: This card, like almost every other Netgear product I have used, sold or installed, is an excellent performer. I've had one in my shop for a couple of years; I use it to test PCMCIA functionality on laptops that I'm working on, as well as to temporarily connect to the internet with laptops whose wireless functionality is problematic. I've installed a number of these in clients' laptops, as well, and have taken the card in my office into the field with me to troubleshoot laptops on-site. It is easy to install and configure, though the Netgear Wireless Manager software could be a bit more comprehensible to the casual user. (It is not, in my view, worse than the other wireless configuration software out there, but still ...)
Cons: The wireless networking software is not as intuitive as one could wish. it is no worse than the configuration apps for other wireless cards, but from the point of view of the casual user they could all be more intuitive.
Overall Review: In my experience, Netgear equipment has been nearly flawless. I have installed hundreds of Netgear devices and, in 15 years of professional experience, I've had exactly two Netgear devices fail; one was a simple equipment failure; the other one I actually found had been stepped on. By contrast, I have a box the size of those plastic grocery baskets you find in stores that is FULL of Linksys and D-Link devices that have failed or can no longer be configured.
I would not order from this seller again.
I ordered a MacBook battery and paid $18.99 extra for 'expedited international shipping (3-5 business days)'. I ordered the part on March 16th. It came in the mail on April 10th, some 25 days later. By that time, neither my client nor I were pleased. Based upon the actual shipping time, it would have been more honest to say '3-5 weeks' than '3-5 business days'.
