Aposonic W-DVR 4 x BNC PCI DVR Card
Aposonic W-DVR 4 x BNC PCI DVR Card

Pros: Took a little while but Divx 5.0 works fine with this product for encoding.

Cons: Trial and error

Overall Review: Still pretty good

Video Encoding

Aposonic W-DVR 4 x BNC PCI DVR Card
Aposonic W-DVR 4 x BNC PCI DVR Card

Pros: Everything from my previous review still stands as a very good product however when it comes to encoding videos, there is a big problem with Divx.

Cons: Divx encodings leave the video black. I tried downloading the new version of divx but to no avail.

Overall Review: Not sure which direction to go in since their site has lousy help options but I will continue trying to figure out this product.

Very Sweet

Aposonic W-DVR 4 x BNC PCI DVR Card
Aposonic W-DVR 4 x BNC PCI DVR Card

Pros: Very funny how just before I got this thing up and running, someone else just bought it - granted it has been over a year and a half since the last review of this product I got the card installed with very minor fuss. It is running on an Athlon 64 3400+ single processor with one gig of ram. Nothing special has been done to this computer and it is absolutely stock from when it was bought. The computer hardly runs warmer with this camera on. The video is very clear and smooth and even when up to 30 FPS, it's very easy to make out faces while moving at a considerable pace. What I was looking for when I considered this card was "what camera should I pair it with?". I bought a Aposonic A-CDBI03 (N82E16881338001) and am very pleased thus far. One thing that I didnt realize at first was that both connectors (for the camera and this card) had female connectors so I had to get a male-male bnc cable

Cons: None yet

Overall Review: . Anyone interested in that camera should understand although the nightvision is absolutely awesome, the infrared led's turn a dull red which make it very obvious in an otherwise dark background. I just started playing with the encoding of files and so far I havn't had much luck but I am sure it just needs a little tinkering with since other users didnt complain too much. By default the video streams are saved as .PMF files With this model you can pick an area (one single area) for motion detection and it also has variable frame rates for before and after the control up to 30fps Like the previous reviewer, the manual is not a deal breaker. Someone mentioned earlier that it was written in 5th grade Taiwanese-English to which I agree but sentences like "When click close, the channel be selected will disappear from the screen, but it doesn't affect its recording status" are easily understandable.

Cheap and Good

NETGEAR WGR614NAR G54 Wireless Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g

Pros: Its small, runs cool and worked right out of the box

Cons: wireless range is a little bit limited however for the price it was well worth it

Absolutely Silent

ARCTIC COOLING ALPINE64 92mm CPU Cooler
ARCTIC COOLING ALPINE64 92mm CPU Cooler

Pros: This little fan is so quiet I cant even tell that the machine is running sometimes. I didnt have any arctic silver 5 so I used the default heat pad and it keeps my AMD 3400+ @89TDP running around 40 degrees celcius. The hottest the processor gets under load is around 65 degrees and even with the fan on high, you can barely notice it.

Cons: none, be careful when installing it, the moutn around the fan is a little delicate, like on other reviewer stated, he broke it in the process of installation

Overall Review: Buy this. Its cheap and goes the extra mile.
