NETGEAR AC1450 Dual Band Gigabit Smart WiFi Router Two (2) USB ports—one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port IEEE 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac 5.0 GHz Five (5) 10/100/1000 (1 WAN and 4 LAN) Gigabit Ethernet ports with auto-sensing techn

Pros: caught unit on sale (59$) and bought a second, immediately flashed with dd-wrt and not a single hiccup. I now have two and neither has given me any trouble.

Cons: Processor runs a tad bit warm for my taste, I keep a usb fan pointed to the back of the unit. Temp drops by over 25C

Overall Review: Flashed both units with dd-wrt without going to 6300v2 and run usb fans for better cooling. first one been running since feb with only one reboot that i can attribute to ISP, run multiple phones, laptops, tablets, Ooma, NAS, USB, open Vpn, security system etc... use port fwd and QoS on both bands and also 802.11ac, great throughput imho cannot comment on those who have had bad luck, mine have been golden (knock on wood). Maybe its the additional cooling i give mine... dunno oh and my second one was obviously unused, sweet.

Addendum

Synology DS115j 1-Bay (Diskless) Network Attached Storage (No HDD Included)
Synology DS115j 1-Bay (Diskless) Network Attached Storage (No HDD Included)

Pros: just a clarification, see prior review

Cons: none

Overall Review: Just wanted to make a correction to my review... While remote streaming of my two cameras to my iPhone 6 does max out the processor I've realized it is only a 60ish % load when remote streaming both cameras to my laptop. Evidently more preprocessing is required for phones.

very pleased with the telo

Ooma Telo+BT Telo with Bluetooth Adapter
Ooma Telo+BT Telo with Bluetooth Adapter

Pros: Voice quality is excellent, no more expensive land line, installation was easy, what's not to like

Cons: The one big con is the Bluetooth adapter is about worthless. No iPhone newer than the iPhone 4 is supported by it. I tried and even called tech support, they said sorry.... but nope, not going to work. But no worries... wasn't the reason for purchase to begin with. Still odd they would include something so obsolete as a selling feature

Overall Review: I have a good router and high speed internet. I have no issues at all with sound quality. I also connected mine behind the router as opposed to the recommended installation. Even so, it was a trouble free hookup and behind the router allows the use of the dd-wrt router's QoS (ooma gets secondary priority behind security cameras)

great little adapter

SUPPORT Win 8.1 - PARA-LINK 2in1 Client / AP Mini 300M 300Mbps USB WiFi Wireless N LAN Network Adapter 802.11 n/g/b N1571

Pros: install software, plug adapter in, it works.... good signal and nice speed doesn't feel or look cheesey

Cons: only downside I can think of is that it ships from HK

Overall Review: nice bang for the buck

Handy usb fan with stand

Thermaltake Mobile Fan 12 AF0007 Case Fan. USB Powered, 12CM Adjustable Speed Fan With Retractable USB Cable
Thermaltake Mobile Fan 12 AF0007 Case Fan. USB Powered, 12CM Adjustable Speed Fan With Retractable USB Cable

Pros: quiet, comes with its own stand, adjustable speed, usb, includes retractable cord

Cons: None

Overall Review: Handy item. I have a router that runs a little warm. Placed this facing the rear of the router and temp immediately dropped by 20C.Nearly silent unless on full speed, and even then its very quiet.

rock solid

Linksys WRT54GL 802.11b/g Wireless Broadband Router up to 54 Mbps/ Compatible with Open Source DD-WRT (not pre-load)
Linksys WRT54GL 802.11b/g Wireless Broadband Router up to 54 Mbps/ Compatible with Open Source DD-WRT (not pre-load)

Pros: wanted rock solid for security system use. Flashed with DD-WRT mini and not a single hiccup. No drops, no reboots, no anything except consistent performance. May be slow by today's standards, but when it absolutely must work... its hard to beat.

Cons: None for what it is.

Overall Review: If only a truly modern equivalent was available
