Aorus - 17.3" - Intel Core i7-4860HQ - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M SLI - 16 GB DDR3L - 1TB HDD 384 GB SSD - Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Gaming Laptop (X7V2-CF1 )

Pros: Like one other reviewer - lot's of pro's here: 1) Up to 32GB of 1866 Hz ram. This was a primary reason for me to get this system. I have installed matching ram and brought the system up to 32. I use the included Hyper-V as a portable lab system for my job and I will no longer have to maintain an equivalent setup in my data center (ahem - basement) to do visualization. I didn't find another system out there that has this capacity. 2) CPU Speed is excellent 3) SSDs in all 4 slots. I took out the included mechanical 7200 RPM 1TB drive and put in a Crucial 512MB SSD. My VM's are stored on this drive and fire up incredibly fast as a result. To make up for the storage amount lost, I enabled Windows Reduplication and saved about 80% of the disk space (Google Windows 8.1 Dedup - really huge thing!) 4) Screen quaility. I read review sites before I bought this PC and most of them were complaining about the screen quality saying that the colors were 'clinical' and the blacks aren't really black. Hogwash! The screen is bright, clear, easy to read, and the color reproduction is excellent on all the games I have thrown at it (Defiance, Firefall, Planetside2, etc). Very nice screen. 5) Sound quality. I wasn't expecting a laptop to produce sound well but I have to say I am surprised at how much I get from it. There is a noticible amount of bass and it is loud enough to be completely playable to the point that I don't 'have' to have headphones in my bag. 6) It's thin for it's overall size. I travel weekly and stay in hotels almost every week so I need the power but couldn't go for the size of an Alienware 17/18 and will, at times' have to carry it around in the offices I visit. While the device isn't something I would like to carry around, it is light enough for the occasional conference room visit if I need to demonstrate something. The system is very wide and deep but the thickness is just right for me. 7) GPU strength. Wow - this system is easily the equivelent or better than my desktop gaming pc that has a single Radeon 7970 in it. I have been able to run all my games on Ultra settings with nary an issue. As expected of a system like this the fans do kick up and it can get warm but not so bad that I would list it as a con. I also bought a Cooler Master notepad cooler - tried it a few times but decided that I don't really need it. 8) The ability to hook it up to other monitors. I have three 27 inch ASUS displays I used for Eyefinity. I have not tried the Nvidia equivelent yet but am very confient this system will be able to handle 5076x1080 gaming as well as my desktop (I might give the desktop to the kids if it does!)

Cons: A few cons that I see - no show stoppers IMO: 1) Fingerprints are easily left on the skin of the laptop. I drives me crazy and will start carrying wipes around with me. It is pretty noticeable and don't want to have that in a business setting. 2) The touchpad isn't the best. It seems to be pretty low DPI but gets the job done for average tasks. All else - expect to bring a mouse. 3) Ten torx screws to get this thing open !? Really? quite annoying. 4) Battery is under these same annoying screws and am not sure if is 'user replaceable'. It doesn't look easy to take out after examining it and didn't want to chance it for now. If you are like me and have found that sometimes issues with a laptop can be resolved by pulling the battery, well that trick won't work here.

Overall Review: Overall - even though those few cons annoy me.. This system is very good and I strongly recommend it - especially if you need the RAM like I do.

Excellent monitor - worth every $

ASUS VE276Q Black 27" 1920X1080 Full HD HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor w/Display Port & Speakers 300 cd/m2 100,000 :1 (ASCR)

Pros: * Bright * Good color * Easy to read text * very nice upgrade from a 24' * Best monitor I ever owned. Will never go back to anything smaller * No dead pixels at all * Lightweight and easy to move * stable on my desk

Cons: * There is no height adjustment

Overall Review: Highly recommend this monitor - worth every penny!

Perfect monitor for me

ASUS VE276Q Black 27" 1920X1080 Full HD HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor w/Display Port & Speakers 300 cd/m2 100,000 :1 (ASCR)
ASUS VE276Q Black 27" 1920X1080 Full HD HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor w/Display Port & Speakers 300 cd/m2 100,000 :1 (ASCR)

Pros: * Shipped with Zero dead pixels * Clear crisp bright display * Can easily fit two pages worth of Word side by side or two apps side by side using Win 7 hotkeys * Gaming is incredible on this screen; very fast refresh and the 27' display size is amazing compared to my 24' even * Thin and lightweight * Base of monitor holds LCD stable * Power button is under bevel pointing down so light from it does not distract

Cons: * Menu buttons are very hard to see/read from bevel on LCD * No height adjustment only tilt

Overall Review: Very pleased with this screen. Due to the size I am no longer having a hard time with overlapping windows/apps. I could not believe the difference in gaming on it as well. I can now sit farther back from the screen without straining my eyes. Best monitor I have bought to date.

Great portable server/game box

Comments: It was pretty easy to build, it's small which makes it fairly easy to carry it around (get the carrying case for it), I stuck my Ti4600 in it and LOVE to carry it to work and play games and use it to teach my MSCE courses from it using VMWare. Stuck a fast 48x burner in it which is great for unexpected burning needs, and it fits great into my entertainment center. Heat hasn't been a problem. Great all in one solution. My next PC's will be based on this form factor.
