Nice scanner, a litle slow on film

Canon CanoScan 8800F 2168B002 4800 x 9600dpi 48bit USB Interface Flatbed Scanner
Canon CanoScan 8800F 2168B002 4800 x 9600dpi 48bit USB Interface Flatbed Scanner

Pros: Good scans, nice color. No warm-up time is awesome! Software is decent, although I mainly just use the TWAIN driver with IrfanView. Dust and scratch removal is a definite plus.

Cons: Film scanning at higher resolutions is surprisingly slow. Eight color negative frames at 1200 dpi takes about 6 minutes - seems pretty good. But 1600 dpi increases it to 24 minutes, which doesn't make a lot of sense. Strangely, 2400 dpi also takes 24 minutes. Film holder does seem a little flimsy, but OK if you're careful with it. Doesn't have a place inside the lid for storing the film/slide holders like my old Epson did.

Overall Review: First one didn't work - film scanning was broken. Newegg did RMA with no questions asked. Second one works fine. I don't use the one-touch buttons, can't comment on those.

Great monitor for the price

Hanns-G 19" Active Matrix, TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms 1280 x 1024 D-Sub, DVI-D JC-199DPB
Hanns-G 19" Active Matrix, TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms 1280 x 1024 D-Sub, DVI-D JC-199DPB

Pros: Nice color, no dead pixels, bright display, DVI input. Good replacement monitor for my PowerMac G5.

Cons: No vertical adjustment, stand seems a little flimsy and wobbly, 1280x1024 resolution is no more than a typical 17" panel. No USB ports.

Overall Review: Overall, an excellent budget LCD monitor. Lacking a little in the feature department, but still a great deal for the price.
