Great Board

ASUS P5Q3 LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5Q3 LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Finally a mb that will oc a Q9550 to 3.4Ghz. Is not picky on DDR3 memory(as some P45 mb's are) and doesn't break the budget.

Cons: None as of 1 week in use.

Overall Review: I had tried two other P45 based mbs that did not like the Q9550 (E0 stepping) even with the latest BIOS updates. They would boot but not be stable. This mb also does not seem to be as picky on memory as the aforementioned mbs were. I put Patriot PC3-10666 7-7-7-20 in and it read it right where as previous mbs would read it as 1066. I also used Corsair DHX1600C9 (which is very fast on ASUS mb) would not be read or boot on previous P45 mbs. So in closing ASUS P5Q3, Corsair TW3X2G1600C9DHX@1600, Intel [email protected]=3.4Ghz(FSB1600),2 Samsung 750G hdd in RAID1, Windows XP Pro SP3. Very stable.

Just OK

MSI G41M-P23 LGA 775 Intel G41 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
MSI G41M-P23 LGA 775 Intel G41 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: DDR3, 10/100/1000 LAN, IDE & floppy ports if you need them

Cons: No USB 3.0, CPU will not overclock unless you use old time flip swith, could not get any memory to run above 1066Mhz. See other thoughts.

Overall Review: CPU will not overclock unless you use switch on MB. In the BIOS there is no way to use a different multiplier even if it is lower. ie: if you use a E5800 CPU it has a 16 multiplier. (16x200FSB=3.2Ghz)There is no way to use any other multiplier than the 16 not 15,14 etc. (9x333=3.0Ghz is not possible). If the processor has a .5 step there is no way to allow/disallow as on many other G41 MB's. Also tried multiple brands of DDR3 1333 memory( G.Skill Sniper,Patriot Extreme,Corsair Vengeance you get the picture) none would run at 1333Mhz. The board would try to boot mutiple times and then reset the memory to 1066Mhz and boot fine. Yes I messed with the voltage settings all over the place. Same results. The board works OK with the above caveats.

SYBA SD-PEX20139 2 Ports USB 3.0 PCI-e x1 2.0 Card with Internal 19 Pin USB 3.0 Header
SYBA SD-PEX20139 2 Ports USB 3.0 PCI-e x1 2.0 Card with Internal 19 Pin USB 3.0 Header

Pros: Inexpensive way to add USB 3.0 to older system or one that needs 19pin internal header.

Cons: Took one star off for incomplete instructions.

Overall Review: To hackitoff. Some MB have the pci-e x1 slot by the video card slot. If you use it the slot shares IRQ with video card and slow both waaaay down. Move card to another pci-e 1x if you have it and card will work as expected.

Fast and Quiet

Seagate Constellation ES ST3500414SS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SAS 6Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate Constellation ES ST3500414SS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SAS 6Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: 500Gigs of space, quiet, very fast and INEXPENSIVE compared to SSD's

Cons: None as of now. Reliability being the only thing that would change my rating of this drive.

Overall Review: Running 4 of these in RAID 0 (just checking them out) on a LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-4i on Win 7 64, Crystal Disk Mark brings back a 730Mbs/R 535Mbs W. Are you kidding me? These are quiet, do not get overly hot and just work. I have had them running for about 30 days. ASUS P5Q3 8Gigs G.Skill F3-12800CL9D Intel Q9550 @ 3.4Ghz Gigabyte GTX460 1Gig

No so fast

G.SKILL Phoenix Pro Series 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) FM-25S2S-120GBP2
G.SKILL Phoenix Pro Series 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) FM-25S2S-120GBP2

Pros: The drive is faster the standard HDD.

Cons: Would not run at manufacturer's rated speed.

Overall Review: In a Lenovo Y550P I7720QM 8Gigs RAM Win 7 U 64bit this drive would only return a 200.1Mbs read and a 88.4Mbs write using Crystal Disk Mark 3.0. The same computer with an I***l 160G would return a 250.7Mbs read and a 105.3Mbs write. Both drives were tested with the BIOS set to AHCI. The I***l drive was right on published benchmarks while the G.Skill lagged far behind it's published benchmarks. Disappointed that product cannot be returned for not hitting published benchmarks. Thought you would like to know.

Better than most

TP-Link TL-WR1043N 450 Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Router
TP-Link TL-WR1043N 450 Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Router

Pros: 4gigabyte LAN ports, throughput speed, ease of setup, true N speed

Cons: None as of now.

Overall Review: Great router with easy setup. I have set this router up through TP-Link included software with AT&T, Brighthouse/Road Runner and a Hughes Net satellite with NO problems at all. I have probally installed over 50 wireles routers in my time and this is by far the user friendliest setup that WORKS. Non-tech types should not have a problem installing this router in a normal home/small office environment. From other reviews only time will tell if it holds up. I have not had to reboot any(3) of these routers I have bought and installed so far. Wireless range is OK but not outstanding. The speed however is very fast. Obviously right now this is my router of choice unless they start having problems down the line.
