It's a screamer
Pros: Handles 32G of RAM, UEFI bios seems very stable and sophisticated. Lots of features that mostly work, and the auto-tuning feature has the CPU cores running at around 4.5 Ghz and even at that speed, the fan is barely turning (well, I can't hear it, anyway). Temps are good, life is good!
Cons: Neither the Realtek or Intel network adapters will run at 1G speeds; they keep trying to auto-negotiate and disconnect every few seconds. I've got the newest BIOS, but alas, I've got to manually configure them to run at 100M, which isn't a huge deal until I need to do big file transfers between local computers. ASUS suggested an RMA, but all else seems to work well.
Overall Review: My XFX RADEO video (HD7700 I think) card behaves oddly with my two DELL 2418 LCD's- all is fine until the Windows logo disappears and they try to switch into the Windows 7 desktop- randomly one or both will flash and say something about not supporting the resolution. Power them down and back on, and all is fine. Seems it may be a DELL problem, but hard to say.
So far, NO good
Pros: Should have been great.
Cons: Out of the box, is not recognized as being a writable device. I've built and fixed many, many computers, and this one is defective from day one. Reading works, but that's the easy part. By the time I pay shipping back to Newegg, that's half the price of the drive. Knew I should have bought locally for this very reason.
Overall Review: Online shopping is great, but when things don't work, it's a major pain and any savings is quickly wiped out.
Worse than a Y cable
Pros: cheap, sent a replacement unit quickly.
Cons: As other review stated, puts RF noise (swirly patterns) onto the output images. The replacement unit they sent has exactly the same problem. It's the design, not a faulty unit. Their 2 port and any other models they make will have the same problem. I'll try to retun to Newegg, but it's been several months as it got put under a desk where it can be no bother...
Overall Review: For smaller LCD's (17") it *may* be ok, and on a CRT it was ok, but forget a 19" or bigger LCD, much less the video projector I was hoping to use it on.
Pros: Compact, low price.
Cons: One of the internal power wires was broken right out of the box. Easy fix, but this thing puts so much NOISE into the video signal that it's unusable. I've contacted the manufacturer and am awaiting a reply. Also needs a power indicator since the "wall-wart" power supply can easily become detached.
Overall Review: You get what you pay for, I guess.
