Fantastic
Pros: I wrote in an earlier post about board problems, but the second time around this board works great. Folks --- the Bios needs to boot up several times to set up the hardware or ram. Also your ram will need to be set up in the bios, in some cases; you may want to start 1 stick of ram at a time. As a reminder, with patience, it will reboot fine. Give it time to boot, if it doesn’t boot, reboot it again, it will. After all that, my boy and I, unlocked our older Phenom II x2 3.4gz to an Athlon II x4 3.4gz. Runs solid, on 4 cores, also it loves our 730gt NVidia card. My boy loves it! Thanks ASRock!.
Cons: You have to have patience with the bios, and give it time to boot and reset. I had to force reboot it several times, but soon as it sets up, it run great. Wish it ran 1866 ram.
Overall Review: another thought. i had flashed the bios to the latest version. I was able to run my fx8300 with my sniper 2400ghz ddr3 ram down-set to 1866mhz. (yes 1866 not 1600) it ran great but any over-clocking was limited. i also used a phenom ll dual core b59 3.4ghz, unlocked to an Athlon ll quad core b559 3.4ghz for over a year now. any over clocking on unlocked cores was limited. by leaving the cou at a phenom dual core, the cpu over clocked nicely to 3.8 ghz (good cooling is a must) and/or over-clocking the ddr 2 (gaming ram) from 800ghz to 1066ghz was a breeze with a little voltage. issue: unlocking the phenom b59, and ram at once became unstable (forget it with unlocked cores). the unlocked phenom b59 to athlon b559 ran better at 3.4ghz left at ddr2 800 ram. the phenom b59 ran the ram at 1066 well. what a great upgrade for a $18 used 95 watt chip sold all over the web (free shipping). i built two of them. another thought: what a great low power home server board and CPU with dedicated graphics for about $70.
no worky
Pros: should be an exact match for my system... had 8 chips not 16 like the picture.... installed in my system and seemed to work well, at least a thought so...2 to 3 weeks later I started getting blue screens of death, crc errors when installing games software... mass effect 2 ...forget it, did not install without failure every time. . ... Thought my system was failing,( disk drive, HD, what? reinstalled everything with crc issues and blue screens. These problems were intermitting and far in-between, but still there. I did Hours off hardware testing. I did the 4 hour hd test though seagate...ok...up-dated the firmware to both the ssd and Seagate hard drive… including a full factory erase with my ssd and full testing.. Ok … finally after days of thinking my system was failing my wife said what about the ram you put in... hmmm ... couldn’t be. Removed the 2gig chip I put in setting me back to 6 gigs... yep the system is golden but the ram sucked. Later I tried moving the ram around to di
