Smooth, quiet slim keyboard

Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard for Business (5KV-00001 )
Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard for Business (5KV-00001 )

Pros: - The footprint on this keyboard is really small which is what I was looking for - The keys give the appropriate amount of feedback and physical noise - For me the detached keypad was a bonus, although I'm not always sure where to put it to make good use of it

Cons: - I plugged the receiver into the USB hub mounted under my desk (2" think butcher block). I was surprised when I ended up having lag or missing key issues. Once I moved the receiver to a more visible spot coverage was perfect. - The FN key is a slider switch. I can't just hot-key volume-up. They keyboard is either in FN mode or its not. Really short sided I thought

Overall Review: - The arrow keys and home/end/pgup/pgdwn keys took me about a week to get use to. 9/10 I would buy this again. I was looking for a natural keyboard that didn't take up the entire desk that looked nice as well. I thought this delivered

Buy a Seagate

Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10000 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10000 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Fast, easy to setup, cheap

Cons: Cheap: After owning the drive about 18 months it started to fail on me in odd ways and become unrealiable. WD's drives are just too cheap, if you think you need a 10k RPM hardrive then you can justify a few more bones for a Seagate...

AOC E1659FWU 15.6" USB 3.0 USB-Powered Portable Monitor w/ Case, HD 1366 x 768, Built-in Stand, Auto-Pivot, VESA Compatible
AOC E1659FWU 15.6" USB 3.0 USB-Powered Portable Monitor w/ Case, HD 1366 x 768, Built-in Stand, Auto-Pivot, VESA Compatible

Pros: * Very light * 100% USB powered and Driven * Comes with a sleeve * Response time is perfect for development work * Built in stand + VESA Mounts

Cons: * The saturation on the monitor is a little pale in comparison to my MACBook Pro * No secondary input options * The heavy duty USB cable is on the short side, but acceptable

Overall Review: I bought this monitor for the sole purpose of being a second monitor on the go. My home office has 5,080X1920 worth of combined resolution across 3 monitors, so working on just the laptop sometimes just messed with my workflow. I bought this monitor completely expecting it to not work, but I think it's definitely a keeper. If you compare this monitor with a $1k dedicated desktop monitor you are going to be disappointed, but if you treat this for what it is, it's awesome. It fits into my laptop bag in a separate compartment from my laptop just fine, adds a little bulk but not much weight. Some people have complained about the stand, but I think it's just fine. It can be put into a number angles as the stand on the back is basically like a picture frame stand. Portrait mode angles are a little more aggressive, but have been just fine. I haven't done a whole lot with my second screen except development. I usually run my terminal window or debugger on the second monitor allowing me to not have to switch desktops or windows so often. For context, I'm a software engineer (Java, Scala, Node and all things frontend) and team leader (16 years experience).

WOW

SONY 23" Active Matrix, TFT LCD WUXGA LCD Monitor 16 ms D-Sub, DVI-D SDM-P234/B
SONY 23" Active Matrix, TFT LCD WUXGA LCD Monitor 16 ms D-Sub, DVI-D SDM-P234/B

Pros: I'm a developer and bought this to replace my home office CRT. I have a dual monitor setup with a Samsung 204T. I was very happy with the quality of the Samsung, which should help you understand how good this monitor looks since it looks WAY better than the Samsung. Once I hooked it up I spent 30 minutes just trying to get the Samsung to be close to the out of the box look of the Sony....

Cons: The stand only tilts; has no vertical adjustment. I have two hot pixels, but they are far apart and can only be seen if the majority of the screen is black. Fortunetly they are purple and not white dots, but the resolution is so high I only notice it because I'm a bit compulsive.

Overall Review: Props again NewEgg... Free 3 day shipping and I had it next day.

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm Ceramic CPU Cooler
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm Ceramic CPU Cooler

Pros: VERY quite. The fan is rubber mounted, which cuts down on vibration noise, which is really the only kind that bothers me. Very easy and quick to install, smaller profile than expected compared to other "performance" oriented fans.

Cons: None at all.

Overall Review: If I could give this fan a higher score I would. I was a little sceptical at first since I did find some negative reviews on this, but I'm going to order another one for my second box today. My current operating temps for work (Programmer) are 29c, Playing BF2 for a couple hours gets it up to 29c. My box is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo, ASUS A8N-SLI MB, XFX Geforce 7800GTX and 4 gigs of Corsair 3200 Ram.

XFX GeForce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Support Graphics Card PVT70FUDE7

Pros: Makes Battlefield 2 rock!

Cons: Dual screen options are limited past initial setup, but this is a limitation of the software side.

Overall Review: I've come from the darkside of "the other cards" and this is my second NVidia card (first was 6800). My Mark3D score was 4628 out of the box... My box is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo, ASUS A8N-SLI MB, XFX Geforce 7800GTX and 4 gigs of Corsair 3200 Ram.
