Pros: Affordable and very fast. Dual core with 4 logic cores pushes the chip far ahead of any other dual core out there.
The chip stays very cool even with the stock Intel heatsink. The fan is actually silent. Which was a big surprise after reading everyone else reviews.
Runs everything I throw at it with no problems. Perfect for HTPC's and casual gaming PC's
Cons: Can't overclock
Overall Review: Perfect for my HTPC
Antec High Current 400W
Pros: Needs no connections other than the motherboard. Runs all my casual games such as BC2 and Mass Effect maxed out or very close to maxed on 1920x1080 resolution.
Hooked up to my receiver by HDMI and runs HD video and sound flawlessly. Very happy about that!
Drivers are great as of 4/29/2011. No issues whatsoever.
Cons: Won't work if submerged in water
Pros: No issues with install or booting.
Enables 1155 CPUs to use their onchip graphics. Although it leaves much to be desired. The resolution is 1200x1050 on an i3-2100 and the video lags while watching movies. I advise buying a dedicated graphics card unless you just plan to surf and listen to music.
Most likely a great OC'er but I can't say for sure since my i3-2100 is locked. You already know it is though. Its Gigabyte!
Hosts SATA 6GB on two of the SATA headers while the others are standard SATA. Works fine for HDD's and Optic drives on 6GB headers.
Plenty of USB ports on the back. The box says the USB is 3xUSB (whatever that means) I suppose its just optimized USB 2.0 but don't quote me.
Cons: No USB 3.0
Overall Review: If you are looking for a HTPC board this is a great choice.
Pros: Runs well and powers my HTPC with ease. I originally had only one case fan running and the PSU fan going. The case got really warm but no power issues.
Since, I've installed more case fans. PSU is running cool and efficiently.
Cons: Its the loudest thing in my HTPC. Although its not that loud at all. Its about as loud as a constant hum.
There aren't a whole lot of cables but its only 400W anyways.
Overall Review: Specs:
Mushkin Silverline 4GB
Antec High Current 400W
Samsung Spinpoint F4 2TB
Samsung BluRay 12x
3x120mm case fans
Pros: For the price you really can't complain. I've always bought Mushkin RAM for their reliability and affordability.
Cons: I can't see my shiny silver RAM since its in a HTPC
Pros: - Affordable
- GREAT sound
- Easy setup and programing
It took me about 30 minutes to setup and mess around with the receiver's settings. Once you hook it up the sound is perfect for surround music after switching it to Pro Logic II which takes all of 5 seconds.
After reading the manual and learning how to tweak it you can really get some impressive quality. Dynamic Equalizer really brings out the most out of the system. Its perfect for movies but its heavy on the bass for music. It sounds almost what you would hear at cinema center but more clear since the speakers haven't been blown out from constant use.
Cons: No chrome trim
Overall Review: If you're looking for a HT setup you should seriously consider this. Especially at the sale price. I bought mine at $320 and its now sub $300.
Pros: - Affordable
- Low profile
- Low power consumption
- No connections needed
-Runs console ports very well
Mass Effect 2 @ 1920x1080 maxed out, running very smooth, but not silky smooth. Can't complain for $99
Cons: -Drivers Need Improvements
-Freezes and Crashes
-Fans are stuck on max (drivers don't affect them)
Overall Review: If the drivers were optimized this card would be perfect for HTPC's and casual gamers.
As of right now, I have to run my HTPC in Windows 7 Basic theme or I crash/freeze immediately. Another bug is the scroll wheel. If I push down and hold the scroll wheel to surf through a page the screen hangs and then locks up. However just scrolling with the wheel doesn't do any harm. (weird)
If you want a casual gaming card or are looking to get a dedicated card for your HTPC this is a good choice. You just have to wait it out for better drivers.
I might RMA this for a refund if the drivers persist on annoying me. I think I'll be okay on W7 Basic Theme until a driver update but I've only had the card for a few days. Time will tell.
Pros: Fastest, affordable SSD drive I could find. The GB to $ ratio wasn't that bad compared to others I've seen.
This drive is fast. I can't get it running in ACHI but thats due to my motherboard so its not as fast as it could be but still fast. Ran Everest benches with it on average reads and its hit 245MB/s which is pretty fast.
Load times are significantly quicker than HDD. I save twice, sometimes three times the time it takes to load applications and games. OS boot is about 10 seconds on W7.
Cons: No cons really. One of the cheapest SSD's on Newegg and its also one of the fastest in the 120GB range
Overall Review: If you have the money you should consider buying it. I was on the fence for a few days and caved for it. I'm glad I did.
Pros: Combat system is so much better than previous Civ titles. No more stacks of doom!!
Hexes instead of squares for more strategic movement and only one combatant unit per tile.
Graphics are much nicer and have a natural look with the hex grid turned off.
Interface is much easier to understand and still holds depth to the game.
Social Policies are a new addition which depend on how much culture you rake in. Social Policies give your empire perks in a certain field of development like military, currency, expansion, research, etc. Social Policies has a tiny learning curve but it doesn't take more than one game to learn it.
Cons: Diplomacy is almost non existent. The game is very vague in describing how other nations feel towards you. Also there are very limited options for diplomatic relations and even those options aren't very clear.
The AI is overly aggressive and lacks skill. Any nation will declare war on you if your borders come to close for comfort. And when you do go to war and capture enemy cities the AI leader will call for peace and sometimes offer 3 or 4 cities. Which is pretty stupid.
Overall Review: For the most part Civilization V is the best of the series. There is definitely some things that need improvement such as Diplomacy and AI. In the end, Civ V is still just as addictive and fun to play as the ones that came before.
Pros: In short, Arrowhead is ARMA II with a giant mod already installed for you. If you already have ARMA II this is still a nice upgrade and I recommend it.
The cool thing about Arrowhead is if you already have ARMA II installed on your HDD, you can play ARMA II using Arrowhead. You can also run any of the mods you downloaded for ARMA II with Arrowhead.
The campaign is better than ARMA II since you are not stuck in the role of Razor Team. Arrowhead branches out to different roles within the US Army such as mechanized infantry, armored divisions, special forces, etc.
The visuals are much nicer. Bohemia did a really nice job enhancing textures on just about everything. Arrowhead is also less taxing on your hardware than ARMA II so you will be able to squeeze out more FPS. I ran the Arrowhead benchmark with 4km distance and everything on Very High with no AA or Anitstropic and received 23 FPS
Cons: There are very few bugs in Arrowhead. Which is a huge improvement from ARMA II's launch fail. Arrowhead at its current stage is very playable with just some minor bugs. It will probably be taken care of for the most part with the next patch.
If you run mods from ARMA II in MP you will crash a server.
Overall Review: PII X4 955 @ 3.72 GHz
Mushkin Enhanced Redline 1600MHz 4GB
Like playing in a movie
Everything is Maxed out and at 16X AA with a single 5770 with 40+FPS
Cons: Not DX11
Overall Review: Amazing game. Worth every penny. If you have gift cards from X-mas still, use them!
Pros: Arguably the best motherboard for AM3
Overclocked my PII X4 955 to 3.72GHz stable
Northbridge slightly overclocked to 2.2GHz, stable and could go higher.
Full PCIe bandwidth: 16x16x
Plenty of SATA ports
Onboard LED power, reset, clear CMOS
Fully stacked I/O
Great looking board
Cons: Would have liked to pay less but the price is fair
Overall Review: If you want a great motherboard for your AM3 processor look no further.
Pros: Looks great
Keeps my system very cool
Plenty of cable management
LEDs aren't too bright
Cons: A bit expensive compared to the competition
Front panel audio is a joke, plenty of static
Front case fans have to be disconnected to take out HDD cage
Overall Review: Its a little more expensive than the other cases out there but its worth the extra money. Plenty of air flow and my cable management turned out better than I thought.
No visible wires other than the top and rear case fans. Which are only visible if you look above the CPU cooler.
Wasn't sure if I would like the blue LEDs but it looks pretty cool and they are just the right brightness
Pros: Great game
Plenty of ways to approach a situation
Massive armory and plenty of vehicles
For the most part the bugs are non exsistant now
Plenty of mods and a large community
Cons: The occasional bug is annoying but runs pretty well now
The AI could be better but its better than most games
Needs a good system to play well
Takes practice and patience
Overall Review: When you have a quality machine running this game its really stunning. Graphics blow me away and the game feels very real.
A must have for people who enjoy simulation over arcade!
Pros: Beautiful picture
50,000:1 contrast ratio
No dead pixels
Cons: Touch panel takes some getting used to
Overall Review: Adjust the color for best picture
Pros: Works Great
Cons: Can be a little loud at start up
Stutters when you press eject for a second
Overall Review: Works great. These cons are not a big deal.
Pros: Fast & Affordable
Cons: Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium will not install on this drive. I'm currently using my laptop HDD and says everything is functioning properly with the Seagate drive.
I checked the BIOS and it reads the Seagate drive. While in Windows 7 under My Computer the Seagate drive is recognized and formated NTFS.
Ran HD Tune and Seatools and everything checks out properly. The drive will just not get recognized for OS installation.
Overall Review: I'm stumped. Not sure what is wrong with this HDD. I've ran this by plenty of forums with no solutions.
I would love to use this drive as it runs HD Tune with really nice speeds but it just won't install the OS.
Pros: Works great
Bundled with a good mouse
Pros: Easy to install on AM3
Keeps my PII X4 955 running cool
Idles at 46C and full load at 54C
Fits in Antec 902 with about a half inch of space to spare
Cons: Won't fit in smaller cases
Overall Review: Cheaper alternative over the Dark Knight and performs the same.
Pros: Runs my system with no problems.
Will run ATi 5000 series cards in Crossfire.
Cons: Shut off twice while overclocking. Hasn't done it since.
Overall Review: Powers the following without any problems:
PII X4 955
Mushkin Redline 1600MHz 4GB
2x Hard drives
3x 120mm Case fans
1x 200mm Case fan
Pros: Overclocked to 3.6GHz with .025V bump stable.
Overclocked to 3.72GHz with 1.42V stable.
Runs plenty of applications at once with no lag.
Much faster than my Core2Duo
Cons: Wasn't able to get to 3.8GHz
Overall Review: For the price you can't really go wrong with this processor.
AMD is holding onto the AM3 socket until 2011, maybe longer.
Pros: Very comfortable with nice sound. At first I thought it was a bit on the bass side but after getting used to it, its really nice.
I really like the boom for the mic. Makes switching from gaming to music real easy and comfortable
Plug and play. No drivers needed.
Cons: A bit more than I would have liked to pay for but I still bought.
Pretty large. Makes you look like a helicopter pilot lol.
Overall Review: Very nice headset. I would buy again.
I probably thought it was a bit on the bass side because I used earbuds until now.
Pros: Beautiful gloss finish kept me starring at it for about 5 minutes when I opened the box. Sturdy build and runs cooler than its predecessors. Best Blu-Ray player on the market! Uncharted is one of the best games on PS3 making this a great buy with the 160GB.
Free online play
Better exclusives on PS3 imo
Games are slow to be released.
Overall Review: If you have to have the gloss finish get this model. Otherwise save some cash and get the slim.
Epic games are on their way! GoWIII 2010, GT5 2010
Pros: Very well done game. Plenty of ways to play the game as usual with MGS. Boss fights are intense and the characters are amusing. AI is alright not the brightest but good enough.
Cons: Very easy game to play. Even the hardest difficulty is fairly easy.
I was expecting more from MGS4. Didn't live up to the hype.
Little replay value
Overall Review: MGS3 is the BEST of the series.
Pros: Its NY! Really the size is amazing. Plenty of things to do during and after story. Blackhawk helicopter at 6stars gives you a challenge if you aren't prepared.
Cons: Played a GTA since GTAIII, you've played them all.
Overall Review: Worth buying if your a Hardcore Fan!
