Pros: Has a few new features
Cons: Wireless networking doesn't work
Overall Review: For $299, the router should work out of the box. I upgraded to the latest firmware - V18.104.22.168_1.0.44. I could get wireless devices to connect, but they couldn't communicate with the Internet. I am switching back to my reliable R6300.
Pros: Reader reads all types of cards. Compact flash pins cannot be bent
Cons: The cable was not compatible with a ASUS Sabertooth 990FX motherboard. After bending one of the USB 3.0 header pins and breaking it, I cut off the side molding on the cable and got it to fit. However, now the USB 3.0 port on the card reader doesn't work because of the missing pin.
Pros: Faster than previous Corsair USB thumb drives
Overall Review: On sale, this is a great price for such a high capacity drive.
Pros: Running a FX-8350 at 4.4 Ghz with no problems. Windows 8 Fast Boot makes the system restart or boot very quick.
I am running dual EVGA GTX670 FTW cards and games work great. ASUS provides the SLI connector with the motherboard and instructions on how to configure the Nvidia driver. This is my first experience using SLI and it has been good.
Overall Review: Upgraded from a Sabertooth 990FX version 1 to this board. Windows 8 had a problem coming out of hibernate mode. I installed the AMD chipset driver on the CD and it fixed the problem. I haven't had any other problems with the motherboard.
Pros: I've cleaned several screens with this solution and all have come clean without streak marks.
Pros: Very good looking display for the price. Didn't see any dead pixels, banding, or other problems.
Overall Review: I wanted a low cost 27" IPS monitor. This is about as cheap as they get, but it is not cheap quality. LG makes the panels for most IPS monitors, so I trust that they will sell quality products.
Cons: Tried using this with a new ASUS Sabertooth 990FX GEN3 R2.0 motherboard. It would work ok at 1600 Mhz, could not get it to work at the rated speed. I set it to D.O.C.P. and manually adjusted settings - speed 1866, timing to 9-10-9-28, voltage to 1.5v, I also set the CPU-NB voltage to +.1v. Nothing worked.
Overall Review: I am very frustrated. G.Skill support said to set the XMP profile. As far as I know, XMP profiles are only for Intel board, not AMD boards. I am very sorry I made this purchase. I have been using OCZ and Corsair memory and never had a problem. I won't buy Gskill again.
Pros: Most of the new AC routers have cloud support which I feel is a security problem. If you can get into your network from outside of your home, so possibly can a hacker.
Cons: Price. Its not clear if the Parental Controls feature opens up the full router management capability to external users similar to the cloud routers.
Overall Review: I mainly use this for the hardwired connection, so I can't comment on wireless performance.
Pros: Nice user interface. Easy to setup
Cons: After a blackout, the router lost all configuration information. Tried to restore a saved configuration file, but it didn't work. RMAing to NewEgg.
Overall Review: Since I want a reliable router, I'll save money and get one of the older models. New model has too many firmware bugs.
Pros: Reliability and 3 year warranty
Excellent performance for the price, better than AMD 7900 series.
Cons: The cost for some.
Overall Review: I've been using AMD cards for as long as I can remember. I made the switch to VNidia because the 7900 series from all vendors seems to be plagued with reliability problems. 3 weeks ago, I ordered a new AMD 7950 from Newegg which arrived DOA. I wasn't happy. Kudos to Newegg for return shipping and refund.
After reading more reviews, I purchased this card. It has better performance than a HD 7950 and buyers are raving about it in the reviews.
I downloaded the latest drivers from NVidia for Windows 7 64-bit. Games I tested loaded and resumed play without any problems. This includes Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. FPS rates are much higher than a HD 6950. Maybe its my imagination, but the display seems brighter and clearer.
I am very happy with the purchase.
Cons: Computer would not recognize the video card. No video display. This card is cheaper built than the Sapphire HD 6950 it was supposed to replace.
Overall Review: There is no reason why a $400 video card should arrive DOA. I am very upset at Sapphire for not providing adequate testing of their products.
Pros: No problems installing.
Quick startup compared to Paintshop Pro X3. Very quick when switching photos.
Great price with rebate.
Overall Review: This program can do everything that I need. There is no reason to purchase Adobe Photoshop Elements for a premium price.
Pros: Small, well designed, inexpensive
Cons: Slow. Took about 45 minutes to copy 14GB.
Overall Review: As long as you are not concerned about speed, this looks like a nice unit.
Pros: Inexpensive, but not cheaply made.
Power switch allows drive to be powered off.
The manufacturer's web site states this is SATA III compatible. I don't have a SATA III drive so I can't confirm.
Overall Review: I am going to purchase more of these for my other systems.
Make sure you change the BIOS setting for the Sata drive to make it eSata (External sata). That way when you power it off, it won't hang Windows explorer.
Pros: The BIOS overclock setting raised the AMD 1100T clock from 3.3 to 3.84. No problems running at the higher clock rate. Using Corsair 1600 8-8-8-24-2T memory.
Can set any SATA port to eSata to make a drive removable.
Can boot from any device even a USB device.
Cons: BIOS had the memory timings incorrect, but it was easy to fix.
Overall Review: After two DOA CrossHair V motherboards, this motherboard actually works. Save money and headaches and buy this one instead.
Pros: Lots of nice leds and switches. However, they don't do a lot of good if the board doesn't go into BIOS mode.
Cons: My ASUS Crosshair IV motherboard died, so I purchased a new ASUS CrossHair V motherboard from NewEgg. The self-test passed. However, there was no video. The BIOS did not display. I RMAed the motherboard and installed the second CrossHair V. I also purchased a new 1100T CPU and Corsair 850 power supply from NewEgg which I also installed. Still no video. I installed the same model of Corsair DDR3 memory and a different ATI video card from another computer. Still no video.
I found that if I pressed the internal memory check GO button, the memory would test fine and BIOS screen would display. However, after saving BIOS setting and rebooting, no video. It looks like a serious BIOS problem.
Overall Review: My computer hasn't worked for 2 weeks while waiting for parts and I've spent hundreds of dollars on new computer components which weren't bad and had hours of frustration.
After all of this hassle, I will be replacing this with a NON-ASUS motherboard.
Pros: Nice user interface.
Cons: Provides poor directions on both the fastest route and shortest distance settings. It will send you in the opposite direction in order to catch a freeway to go back the other way. It will also send you on local roads when a freeway would provide the fastest route. It does not have the intelligence in making decisions like Yahoo and Google maps. If you want to waste a lot of time while traveling, purchase a Garmin unit.
Overall Review: This is my first GPS and I thought the technology would be fairly mature. How wrong I was.
Pros: Significantly noticable performance improvement over a 7200 RPM drive.
Cons: Unable to format with Windows XP. Vista works fine.
Pros: Low Price. High performance.
Cons: Warranty service is provided by Althon Micro, not Sapphire. The warranty response is slow. It took 2 weeks to obtain an RMA #. Also, they want $15 for return shipping, which they will wave during the first 3 months.
Overall Review: Most other computer manufacturers provide quick warranty repair and no return shipping costs. If your card doesn't fail, all will be fine. But it will cost you extra if it does.
Pros: Low price for features.
HDMI Switching with bypass with receiver turned off
Very light weight. But I doubt it can produce the 90 watts per channel as advertised due to the lack of a hefty power supply.
The receiver does what I need.
Cons: Cheap crimp type speaker terminals. Unable to fit 12 gauge Monster Cable speaker wire into them without a considerable amount of work.
The composite video inputs only have digital audio inputs. How stupid! I have several devices that have composite video with standard analog audio inputs. There are two standard video inputs with audio which I had to use, but of course the picture quality is not as good.
The user manual is missing how to setup the TV code. There is no TV input button. I've tried every combination of buttons without success. Yamaha support has not replied after 7 days of emailing them.
NewEgg will only replace defective units, not poorly designed units.
Overall Review: It would be nice to receive a reply from Yamaha on how to setup the TV code. They haven't even replied that they are researching the issue.
