Worth Every Penny

SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen3. X4, NVMe 1.3 64L V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V7E1T0BW
SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen3. X4, NVMe 1.3 64L V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V7E1T0BW

Pros: Lightning Fast! boot time about 10 seconds. Read 3524, write 2501 (Samsung Magician). Recognized by mobo upon install, just had to install NVMe driver.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Just one of these makes our old RAID arrays seem pathetically slow. Load windows with mobo set to UEFI, not legacy BIOS.

Just the Case I was looking for

Antec Dark League DP502 FLUX, Mid-Tower ATX Gaming Case, FLUX Platform, 5 x 120mm Fans Included, ARGB PWM Fans with Controller, 5.25" ODD Support, Tempered Glass Side Panel, Swing Open Front Panel
Antec Dark League DP502 FLUX, Mid-Tower ATX Gaming Case, FLUX Platform, 5 x 120mm Fans Included, ARGB PWM Fans with Controller, 5.25" ODD Support, Tempered Glass Side Panel, Swing Open Front Panel

Pros: Lots of drive space Easy cable management One 5.25" Drive Bay No sharp edges anywhere

Cons: The motherboard steel standoffs that came with the case leave something to be desired. None of the screws that came in my kit would screw down into them nice and smooth. Its almost as if you'd have to strip them for them to screw down all the way. I replaced them with the brass ones from my old case.

Overall Review: This was a transplant of a new build from my very old Antec Eleven Hundred case to this new Antec DP502 F-LUX case. I loved my old case, but boy would it get dirty inside. I needed something with modern magnetic mesh filters and this fit the bill. Also needed a case with at least one 5.25" bay, which is virtually unheard of these days. Not a fan of RGB, all the fans and controller came out. Each fan has two wires, one for power and one for RGB. What a hot mess that was in terms of cable management. Went with my six Corsair ML120 Pro LED PWM fans, all speed controlled by Asus Q-Fan Control based on CPU temperature. Two fans intake from the front, with one pulling through the radiator, two fans above the PSU pulling air from the right side vent, rear and top fans as exhaust. The two front fans are mounted on the inside, so the mesh filter can be placed on the outside where it should be. Case arrived in perfect condition, is extremely easy to build in, has excellent cable management, classic Antec quality at an excellent price point . Oh yeah, there's plastic covering both sides of the glass, not just the outside.

Awsome CPU!

Intel Core i7 8th Gen - Core i7-8700 Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.2 GHz (4.6 GHz Turbo) LGA 1151 (300 Series) 65W BX80684I78700 Desktop Processor Intel UHD Graphics 630

Pros: Just installed with a Hyper 212 CPU cooler in a new build. All cores idling around 25°C. Couldn't be happier!

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Highly recommend this CPU, would buy again.

Incredible Sound

HT OMEGA eClaro 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card
HT OMEGA eClaro 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card

Pros: -STABLE Drivers -Simple to use software UI -Includes Bass management -Incredibly low noise floor -Equalizer -22 DSP Effects -Did I mention STABLE drivers? Haven't had any audio problems since this card went in. I can finally enjoy my computer instead of troubleshooting audio problems. Using optical out to my Logitech Z906 speaker system. Absolutely loving it! Very immersive sound while playing old EAX games like BF2. I'm really enjoying all my old music again! This card really shines with a good sound system, it deserves nothing less.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I got sooo tired of dealing with cre@tive driver problems. My cre@tive titanium would constantly give me BSOD's on a file called portcls.sys (on two different computers). Or I'd turn on my computer and see a red line through the speaker icon. Oh joy, time to re-install the audio drivers. Or after start up I'd get crackling over all speakers. All those problems are gone with this very stable eClaro from HT Omega.
