Outstanding value
Pros: Good looking, well built board and VRMs, Integrated IO shield and ALC-1220 codec.
Cons: Minimal accessories and documentation.
Overall Review: Shopping for Twelth gen Intel and Raptor lake hit, so I picked up a 13600kf for $30 more than the 12600kf. Wanted a decent mid range board that could handle a13900k and the Gaming X DDR4 checked all my boxes. With 19 total VRM at 60A, 4x4.0 M.2 and PCIE 5.0. Although the Z690 Gaming X DDR4 is priced like a B660, the build quality and connectivity place it right below flagship Z690 boards according to many online reviews. I don't need DDR5, WiFi, thunderbolt and numerous PCIE 5.0 at a price premium! The VRMs, Southbridge and M.2s have beefy heatsinks which give the board weight and newer audio codec with quality caps. The board is layed out well with all the M.2 in the same line under heatsinks and the majority of the internal connections along the bottom. Yes, the system fan headers are along the bottom which could be a con for some. The RGB software is basic like most motherboard manufacturers but, allows control over tho RGB zones on the motherboards trailing edge on the backside, Memory and RGB strip headers. there are also headers for the system fans but would nee to be daisy chained. Really, alot of people would stick with IQue or another 3rd party software to integrate all their RGB. I personally have less on this build because pretty lights = more $ but, is < performance!!! Now for the negative reviews of the Q-Flash Plus??? Raptor Lake is not supported nativly on ANY Z690 board requiring a BIOS flashback function OR buy a 12th gen and upgrade to 13th gen. I HAD NO PROBLEMS! I flashed my blank motherboard to prepare fore a 13600kf !!! And after the system went thru a short three boot process, I was in the BIOS and setting XMP. This is how to use it... 1. Download the latest BIOS from Gigabyte. 2. After unzipping files to folder, Rename the BIOS file to GIGABYTE.BIN( in my case it was the .F20 extension and version). 3. Copy folder to blank USB drive formatted with FAT32. 4. Connect 24 pin and both CPU headers on bare motherboard to power supply. 5. Insert USB into specific rear USB header (found in manual). 6. Power on and press QFlash button. I used a USB drive with an activity light. Once powered on the CPU LED illuminated and the QFlash LED flashed quickly while connecting and loading drive. Once loaded, the Qflash LED flashed slowly and my activity light flashed on the USB drive. This took about 5 minutes to complete. When done all lights go out and power supply fan stops. I think most people complaining don't realize the Qflash only works in one specific USB slot, not any. Which now brings me to the cons... The manual is very basic compared to other manufacturers and not much information on the website. You only get the thin manual, 4 m.2 screws and a two pack of SATA cables. In the manual there are QR codes for drivers and online info. Just go to the website and download the APP center it will install all the drivers and you can select Gigabyte utilities you want to install. The Gaming X DDR4 may not be friendly to a new builder or require a little patience but, if you want to use your existing hardware and get up to date for less $$$, it is an outstanding deal! *** If you have to have DDR5 then go with Z790 but, you will be spending more to upgrade to Meteor Lake when it arrives. If you have good DDR4, why waste money on a platform that is at the end of life come next year? I usually get flagship motherboards but, the prices are out of control... boards that were $400 four years ago now cost $1500-$2000. Do you need all the bells and whistles??? I used to think I did. I have 2 ROG setups from 6th gen and 8th gen Intel and don't use them to their fullist potential! Why? I don't use LN2 to overclock! Bottom line, I know I got a steal! Up to date in less than two hours, went from an 8700k to a 13600kf with the Gigabyte Gaming X DDR4. A stable and upgadable platform without spending over $490! I Will recommend Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 to everyone and will hapily be returning.
Disappointed!
Pros: Good performance and nice RGB
Cons: Software and controllers
Overall Review: Fot this in May 2022 to replace an older h100 that was showing its age. Software sucks... never showed the Comander pro or the cooler pump. Got it to workby using the older controller from the h100. Constantly get audio of conections and disconnections of USB, device not recognized or device failure. Also, check the community pages and looked in bluetooth connections... unknown device. Liked Corsair keyboards and mice but after having 2 cooler controllers and a fan fail, i'm moving to another option. Too expensive, too inreliable.
Nice Board
Pros: Lots of USB and drive support Quality manufacturing
Cons: Personally, WiFi Antenna Asus Software suite BIOS can be hard to navigate for some
Overall Review: The motherboard is well built. This is my second ROG Hero. The other is an Intel VIII series. Love the USB since I have many devices. ASUS is a reliable manufacturer and always produces quality components. they are at the top end of the price scale, but you get what you pay for. Comes with many bells and whistles! Some things I will not use. The worst thing is the bundled utilities and software. Many just clutter the desktop or use valuable resources. I did have many issues installing the drivers... Many gave a message that they were not compatible with Windows 10 64. I found a way after a little fiddling. I was unable to use the disk because everything is moving to digital. The BIOS can be hard to navigate but is very extensive and tailored to overclockers. If you have used Asus before, it can be easier for some. I really hate the WiFi antenna but this is a personal gripe. I would prefer ears like other manufacturers but it was not an option. Many competitors are using the same style antenna and at least this one is over the USB instead of in the middle. All Together... Asus is a quality brand and worth the effort. I have used Asus for years and plan to continue. Yes! I recommend them to friends and would buy it again!
FAST
Pros: PCI 4.0 High read and write speeds Reasonably priced
Cons: none
Overall Review: I have purchased 3 Rocket drives since they showed up and am very happy with the price to performance. Time will tell on reliability since they are fairly new. This drive is very fast... Including the required input from the time I started the Windows installation tool, Widows 10 was at the splash screen in 7 minutes 36 seconds! WOW. Unfortunately, I had to RMA the motherboard I paired it with, but I purchased a better quality ASUS ROG MB. I am expecting that it will work out great. I have a PCI 3.0 as a boot drive on my main computer, which is a Gaming system and it performs very well. I have also built two PCs for my friend and brother with these drives. I guess since my last NVME before finding out about Sabrent was a Samsung 950 pro... You can say I am a fanboy! They are priced about 25 to 30% less and to me have outperformed the mainstream competition. With their pricing and performance, I was able to move from a 250Gb NVME up to a 1Tb without too much strain on my pocketbook.
Solid power supply
Pros: Fully modular Sleeved cables Price
Cons: None at all
Overall Review: EVGA is my go-to for power supplies and GPUs. They have unmatched product support and customer service. I own three power supplies. A 1200, a 750, and 550 watts. They have been super reliable. All are superNOVA and come with outstanding warranties. I have been purchasing them for years and are priced in the mid-range with high-quality standards. I recommend them to all my friends and EVGA never disappoints.
Compact performance
Pros: Nice looking. Longer and smaller diameter tubing for more placement options.
Cons: Noise level is higher in comparison but not intolerable.
Overall Review: Was in a panic after upgrading my motherboard and processor to 8700K. Temps were reaching 99c while only watching videos online or gaming and causing thermal throttling with my old 280mm AIO installed. This AIO solved most of my problems or at least let me sleep better until I could take the steps needed to resolve the dreaded 8700K temperature issue. Instructions sucked but Install was a breeze. Comes with all hardware for any newer CPU and the tubes were longer than my old AIO. I installed it in the top of my micro ATX case in a stock push configuration and was able to rout the tubes straight up and behind the radiator to give it a cleaner look. After deliding my CPU and replacing the TIM with liquid metal, Temps are at 35-38c idle and never go above 73c under extreme load with an overclock of 5.1GHz. It is a little audible but much quieter than other AIOs. Comes with software to adjust pump flow and fan curves that looks like EVGA OCX software. You could adjust the fan curve to quiet things up, but, I have high ambient temps in my location in the summer and prefer to run higher speeds to stay ahead of the overclocked temps. Overall, it is a little pricey but performs extremely well for the compact size with longer tubing for routing options or placement. Highly recommended.
What a joke
Ordered corsair fan kit as part of complete build. all components arived within 4 days. The fans however showed shipping lable created and awaiting carrier pickup. Both Newegg and I reached out and got the run around. They stated the fans would arrive soon. After 12 days got a message that they were on back order and purchase would be refunded. The issue was actually that the company never told me the shipping origin and never gave me a projected delivery. Obviously by the name... this is a company in China but information on item shows ships from US.
Does what it is supposed to
Have an older B370 motherboard with a 12v RGB header. Had to connect an AIO with 5v RGB. Delivery took longer than projected due to the current situation. Works as it should. Basic instructions but easy to connect if you are computer literate. Just bummed I had to add this component to make the lighting work.
Fast!!!
I now have purchased 3 of these drives in the past year. Sabrent does not disappoint and I am a fanboy. This drive is very fast. Installed as a boot drive. From the time I inserted the USB drive and rebooted to the windows screen, Installation with required input took 7:36! I now purchase these with all my builds and highly recommend them. 1Tb NVME drives are now affordable.
