Great enough for almost everyone - for a long time.
Pros: I went from the GTX 970 (2014) to the RTX 2080 Super (2019) so the Pro's are fairly extreme. My GTX 970 worked fine for everything I needed - the RTX 2080 Super just made everything a lot easier, and probably for a long time to come. Almost everything worked fine with the GTX 970 but everything works (and a lot better) with the RTX 2080 Super. A Ryzen 9 3950X, 2560x1440x75Hz monitor and this RTX 2080 Super work with everything and with absolutely no problems.
Cons: This is not like the Titan RTX or the RTX 2080 Ti, or the new RTX 30 Series. You are settling a little bit with this card (because every time you buy a computer part at a good price, there is always something that will beat it now or very soon). Sometimes I wish I spent more for the Titan or Ti, or waited for the RTX 30 series, but after this card has served it's purpose (2025+?), there will certainly be better cards to choose from.
Overall Review: If you can justify the price, this card is the way to go. You won't need a better card for quite some time.
Quality appears to be good on the surface.
Pros: 90 degree angle at my device is great, the length is great and the price is great.
Cons: No connection to my device was possible until I bent over the end at the power supply to a 90 degree angle also. I have just accepted this since I haven't had to move the cable around and I just don't touch that end so it hopefully keeps working for a decent amount of time.
Overall Review: The apparent electrical short in the cable is probably a fluke. This may be a good cable - as long as you don't need it quickly. My December 2020 order took over 3 weeks to deliver from China and the way things look that might not change any time soon.
Purchase #2 for Surround Display
Pros: Great for a single display (2560 x 1440, 75 Hz). I find it completely acceptable for a surround display (2 monitors at 5120 x 1440, 75 Hz). Plug and play (2 monitors) resulted in a total of less than 5/8" blind area between the 2 monitors (bezel corrected to 5177 x 1440). That's about 5/16" of non-usable space at the top, left and right of each monitor. With 2 monitors, I switch between 2560 x 1440 and 5120 x 1440 depending on what I like best for the current program (and depending on what the program supports).
Overall Review: "Bezel" isn't necessarily related to the viewable size: the frame around this monitor is less than 3/32", but the actual dead display space for me is a little less than 5/16" (on the top, left & right). I got used to the blind area between dual monitors very quickly, especially on Microsoft Flight Simulator. Both of my monitors have been 100% reliable to this date.
512GB and Fast.
Pros: Compact, USB 3.0 and 512GB. This is a small and fast USB that stores a lot of information.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Very convenient package for 512GB of fast storage and retrieval.
Latest Windows Professional for Windows Fans
Pros: Easy to download and install. If you encounter any problem, Microsoft customer service will solve it. (Some patience may be required - but any problem will be solved).
Cons: No cons - this is a very good operating system with very good support.
Overall Review: I recommend Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional - research the differences and choose the one that best satisfies your needs. Windows 10 Home is the better choice unless you are focused on business, security or the need to control every aspect of your computer.
Keeps overclocked AMD 3950X at reasonable temperatures.
Pros: Relatively quiet and keeps my AMD 3950X below 65°C no matter what I've thrown at it.
Cons: There are no lights (but I like the dark and black look). Make sure your case has enough space for this cooler - my case is the "Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Airflow CC-9011078-WW Black Brushed Aluminum and Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case" so there was plenty of space at the top back for the cooler - great exhaust location. This cooler is thick (about 2-5/8" overall) so you have to think about where it will fit and where the exhaust should go.
Overall Review: This is absolutely great if you like the black look. My AMD 3950X never hits 65°C. The installation is much easier than most people will lead you to believe. Apply the thermal compound, bolt it on, and run with it!
