Pros: I got the debut version and liked it so much that I then went and bought the pro version.
Cons: Takes time getting use to
Overall Review: I am running a system with a i7 8gb ram with windows 7 64bit and I have not had any issues with the program.
I bought the program through smithmicro almost a year ago.
Pros: fast start up.
Cons: the cart that comes with it is good for 1,000 pages.
its not color for the same price.
Pros: Fast drive large cache.
Cons: Because it runs at 7200rpm instead of 5400 or 5200, it does generate more heat.
Overall Review: My laptop came with a 5200rpm 500Gb HD. It improved my Windows index some what. For the HD my index went from 5.0 to 5.4. Seems like it should had increased more then that. It could just be a driver setting or just need to be updated.
Regardless of the Windows index this is a great upgrade drive.
Pros: been looking for a replacement drive for my laptop. so far so good i haven't had any issues with it.
Overall Review: it says right in the description that its 12.5mm even if it did not you can go and check on other sites like i have. i am going to try and get at lease 2 more for my self for christmas or with my income tax.
Pros: Small light weight
Does not use as much electricity
Works great for what it was designed for
Overall Review: Anyone reading Phil's Review he put "No bundled HD player software". There is no DVD or Bluray player so why would they include HD player software? HDMI and VGA Cables come with your monitor not the computer.
I have a 22" monitor and I attached this to the back of it so zero desk space is used because I have the monitor hooked to the wall. The keyboard and mouse are very cheap but it was not a problem I bought a Microsoft Natural Wireless Ergonomic keyboard and mouse. I am going to get a second one to use as a file server and proxy server.
I can stream Netflix movies on this there were a few hickups but that was just my net being stupid. I would recommended this system to anyone that has a camper, kids in a college dorm room, pre-teens, or a computer in the kitchen. I got a usb tv tuner for it and it works great. If you want to watch DVD's buy a external DVD player, this will let you install software as well.
Pros: 18.4" display.
Cons: No backlit keyboard
No i7 for this price
Overall Review: Those on here wining about how big and heavy this system is needs to get over it.
I do allot of lanparty gaming and this is way better then caring around a tower, monitor, keyboard and mouse.
This is not a system you want to carry around with you all the time. If you want a portable system that does not weigh much then chose something else. If you want a true desktop replacement then this is it.
Pros: Big screen
Cons: Drivers and customer support
Overall Review: I got my system then did a Microsoft Windows 7 in place upgrade (forget the exact wording) but all it is, is a new Windows key. I rebooted my system and lost my video drivers. My restore partition was messed up so unable to restore it back to the original windows. I called Toshibas tech support and that was a waste of time. Their tech support has no clue. The hardware is good but the support sucks. I talked to 6 techs was told twice I would be called back, one time 30 to 45 minutes no call. Called back and was told a senior tech would call me back in 15 to 20 minutes and its been 3 days later. The issue is just trying to get the Geforce GTS 360M drivers. The one on Toshibas site when I try to install say there not valid for my video card. So i have this great video card and i am stuck at 800x600. Toshiba said we will sell you a restore cd and they are out of stock of them. So mmmmmm I have a great system that is crippled because of no drivers. I can't even get them from Nvida.
Pros: I got 2 of these wish I would had bought more at this price.
I got them for some of my desktops that are just to far away for cable.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I got all the parts shown not sure why others didn't get the cable, in mine the cable was in a sort of hidden area.
Pros: Great size for the price.
Cons: Bought to use as a drive for my VM but found that the read/write was just way to slow to be useful for this.
Overall Review: Large size but slow.
Pros: light weight
Cons: because i am so use to back ground noise and this kills all but a little of it, and i cant hear my self talk.
Overall Review: These are good just take some getting use to the con is not really one just seems like it will take time to get use to.
Pros: Better then Vista
Works on my netbook where as Vista did not.
Cons: Not as fast as XP
Quick launch bar gone you can pin stuff to the taskbar but not the same as quicklaunch. I use to have some text files I liked to have setting in my ql, but you can't do that in the new taskbar.
In control panel you can not switch to classic view that I have found so far.
Overall Review: This is a review of the real released version and not the RTM. I did not get from NewEgg I got from a MS event a week ago.
On my netbook I have Win7 32-bit but on my desktop I have Win7 64-bit.
This is what Vista should had been. I have see reports that its slower then XP on some things but over time like with Vista they will fix this. The system requirements are more accurate on Win7 over Vista. Vista says it will work with 1Gb of RAM but found that in reality 2Gb is the sweet spot. My netbook has 1Gb and it runs perfect. This is worth the upgrade so if you have XP and been holding off now is the time.
Pros: Great price I got 2 of these.
Lots of inputs
Cons: only con's that i can think of is they are 720p
1080's are still to expencive
the remote could use some more work but use my cable box remote.
Overall Review: later on i will upgrade to 1080 when they come down in price
Pros: Small package
Cons: Short Cable
Slow at times I think this is a 4200RPM drive I haven't tested it yet.
Overall Review: Good for what its suppose to do, the main compliant by me and others seem to be the very short USB cable included with it. I recommend if you get this buy a longer cable.
Pros: Big, great sound from built in speakers(but don't use much got 1,000 watt external) colors are bright and vivid. Pulled it out of the box and it worked.
Cons: My mom came over saw me watching Tv on it and she took it, so I will be getting another one soon.
Overall Review: Even with out the mom incident I was planning on getting 2 of them, I work from home and need the screen space.
Pros: Upgraded the T2390 in my Toshiba laptop with this. It might just be a psychological but it seems like it is working faster. My rating in Vista went from 3.1 to 3.9. The processor score went from 4.3 to 5.1.
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: If you plan on upgrading your Toshiba laptop like me plan on spending time.
Pros: Nice speed 1.6GHz dual core Intel Atom processor. The colors are bright and the screen pops. The battery life is excellent, I get 5 to 6 hours with the system. Installing Vista is not a good idea with this system even after upgrading the memory to 1.5Gb. If you have smaller hands like me you can touch type on it but if you have larger hands you will have to hunt and peck. Comes with 2 SD slots, I use one for extra storage.
Cons: No express card slot, no HDMI/DVI or S-Video slot. RAM Max 1.5Gb. Hard drive and RAM is hard to upgrade because you have to take the system apart to do it. I would had also like to had seen a e-SATA drive so I could get a external HD or DVD drive to hook up to it. The only other problem with the system is because of its screen size some programs you install the buttons extend below the bottom of the screen.
Overall Review: I would had like to had seen an express card slot so I could up grade it. With an express card slot I could put a TV tuner in it or get a IEEE 1394 adapter. I would had also love to had seen something like a HDMI/DVI so I could hook it up to a HDTV TV. I have Netflix and this would make a nice little media PC. Another plus would be a e-SATA port so I could hook up a DVD or BluRay drive to it. Windows 7 which should be coming out some time mid to late 2009 will at this point work on NetBooks, with as little as 512Mb of RAM. I recommend keeping XP or Linux on the system until Windows 7 comes out. I would also like to see Acer make a high capacity battery for the system.
Pros: nice bright screen, keyboard not to bad to touch type on (if you have big hands or fingers you will have to do hunt and peck). the battery life is good get a little better battery life from my laptop.
Cons: max ram 1.5 gb, to upgrade the ram and hd you have to pretty much take the system apart which voids your warranty. no 802.11n and not sure if it can be upgraded. no expresscard slot.
Overall Review: i personally would love to see the max ram go as high as 2gb or 4 gb would be perfect. it would be nice to have a door on the bottom to up grade the ram and hd. i would had loved to had seen an express card slot for expandability like a tv tuner. i drive allot and being able to put a tv tuner in the system to watch while i am not driving would be great.
Pros: lots of options for reading media.
Cons: i have several of these and its sort of a hit or miss. for example i have 3 8 GB SD cards and 2 will read it but 1 will not. if you have high capacity flash memory check it out.
Pros: does what its suppost to do and does it well. there are better options but for pirce not much better. its quiet.
Cons: this thing is big the mobo i had intended to use it on it wouldn't work because it would block a ram slot. the fins bend easily and can interfere with the fan so be careful.
Pros: cant really think of any.
oh wait is pretty.
Cons: look i hate to sound like a Microsoft/vista basher. i beta tested vista(longhorn). Microsoft has totally missed the boat on this. they have forgotten what a OS is. this is more of a application then a OS. allot of the stuff that Microsoft has put in vista like Aero glass and gadgets you could had gotten from 3rd party companies for free or nearly free.
Overall Review: not everyone needs or wants a dual or quad core CPU. i would say that 80% of most users do not use there computers for more then simple things like checking emails, surfing the net, etc........ you do not need a 3ghz quad to read your email and thats were Microsoft has lost their way. they should keep selling and upgrading XP for these people. i only bought it because i needed it for work. if i didn't need it, i wouldn't had gotten it
Pros: looks great runs fast very solid.
Cons: why is this board getting a 4 instead of a 5 two reasons:
1) had to update the bios and was unable to get it to with there utility i contacted asus tech support about it but have yet to hear anything from them. the problem i was getting is that it would say the bios update i was trying to use was not for my board.
2) i had to go in and manualy set my rams settings the auto setting would not work right.
Overall Review: my ram is g-skill 1066 and is rated at 5-5-5-15 but the board in auto detect settings set it at 8-8-8-25. would even claim it was 64bit ram and not 128bit. these few issues are what keeps this and asus a 5. the ram settings is not a biggie but the lack of tech support is the major issue. just wonder what i would get if i had a real issue with this board? does not matter how great your product is if your tech support is lacking that will chase people away.
Pros: 4 Gb for under $100
Cons: For some reason my system see's them as single channel. I am using them on a ASUS M3N-HT with a AMD Quad. The problem is maybe that it needs a DDR2 1066.
Overall Review: I always get and recomend G.Skill
Pros: Heat Pipe. It keeps my system very cool I am using a AMD 9850 with stock fan right now and it runs around 64c and gets up to 68c full load. I had it on another board and was getting 75c to 80c.
Cons: Upgrading the BIOS I am unable to do. I used the ASUS update program and it will not upgrade, I also went to the site downloaded the update and used the update program with the file. It said this update was not for my system. I don't know if its because I am using Windows XP 64bit or not.
Overall Review: Never used ASUS I normaly get Gigabyte, ECS or Tyan motherboards. The box came with lots of extras and the manual was big and compleate. I hate mother boards that come with little 10 page manuals.
Pros: Its a Quad
Cons: None really would like to see a larger cache that might help it compeate with Intel better. It runs hot using right now the stock fan and it runs about 64c and gets up to about 68 with a full load.
Overall Review: If you plan on over clocking this I would recomend getting a better fan or a watter coller for this.
Pros: Does what it's suppost to. I was able to boot my system from it with a few little bios changes.
Cons: The case is plasic and seems cheap but what do you expect for under $20?
Overall Review: It's light weight great for use with a laptop that does not have a floppy drive(which is almost all now days). Also great for that new system that does not have a floppy diskdrive.
